+ 3 Infections and ways to overcome them.
OK, guys and girls. I'm gonna suck up my pride and just admit it I fffed up. I'm 30 and been using off and on since I was 25 or 26 . Never had a problem w any infections before. Recently, I injected 200mgs of test into my right quad.
But, did it w a 5/8 needle. I know I'm stupid what was I thinking. Well, my legs r very lean and I thought I'd b good WRONG !!!
I started to get concerned. So I sucked up my pride and went to ER. The infection had set n to where I was literally couldn't walk and was throwing up. Doctor walks n. Asks what's going on. I lifted up my shorts and he knew immediately in his head what I did.
I was nervous and said something bit me Lol.
He knew. Said ur a big guy. U sure do have a lot of muscle. There was no hiding it. I asked the nurse to leave. And told him exactly what I did. OK... no big deal he says. I'm gonna give u iv , drawn some blood and do an ultrasound on ur leg to check for abscess.
I'm on keflex and bactrim now and the swelling is slowly go n down today. Doctor said there was a little fluid between muscle and skin and should absorb. Thank God.
There is a couple of guys on here that really help me out. U know who u r. THANK YOU
Point being, we all r human. Yes I made a mistake and fffed up. But, dayumm don't be scared to suck up ur pride and ask for help when needed.
Lesson learned. I'm never gonna use 5/8 again. And Sterilization is really important !

So was it the short needle that was the problem, or would you have seen the same reaction using a longer needle? If bacteria is getting in, does it matter how deep it goes in?
Hmm, well. The 5/8 was to short and my legs r lean. Go look at my pics. Fluid got trapped in between skin and the muscle and got infected. It took bout 72 hours for it to set n. Now, I've never had an infection and that was the first and last time I will ever use a 5/8. I'll never really know. But, if I would of used a one inch or one and a half. I'm 99.9% sure this would of never happened !
Anonthis guy should take the advice.
after, that looks like necrotic tissue :(

Umm , yeah Lol.
With this statement "Doctor said there was a little fluid between muscle and skin and should absorb" i am confused. just cause its fluid does not mean its an infection, but u were feeling sick so good call.
heres my issue with telling a doc youre on. it goes on your perm record. this puts u in a position for your medical insurance to hassle you paying for bills down the road. now lets NOT confuse this with the hospital needing to treat u, they need to but your insurance may not need to pay if they can blame the aas.
i know someone that pers went through this.
my suggestion and im not a lawyer, dont admit to it. simply say u were in yard, etc moving some old wood and u felt something prick ya. some blood did come out but u thought u were ok. over a week ago a nail or something pinning u could heal up.
point being pers id not admit to it, but thats just my 2 cents.
glad u r getting better bro!
Also, ur family doctor. U should trust and b able to tell him anything. I go to him and get bloods and a full lipid panel and such for my ten dollar co pay. He doesn't put blood work for roid use on that.
There's safe ways to go bout it, just use your head and trust ur doctor. U will b fine.
I appreciate ur concerns. But, c Mon. I didn't walk up n there n b like, yo doc I shot up sum roids, now I b trip n n shit. Lol
I kindly asked nurse to exit. Which, she did and I told him exactly what I did. And I don't regret it at all. When it comes to my health I'm not play n. Medical records r confidential. On my paper work . It doesn't say anything bout roids and injections. It says, CELLULITIS of the thigh. Google it.
I had to think this through really good BC I work for a fortune 500 company. I have to take their doctor my papers and get checked before I can return. So I'm good.
Thanks I am finally getting better. I ate like a horse today.
Dam sure does suck man ....put +1 for going to get checked ...
I always shower before I pin and I scrub the shit out of the injection site to get it ready.. then I scrub the shit out of it again with alcohol then finally pin lol its a lil over kill but it has worked for me....
I totally agree. Scrub the shit out of it Lol.... never b to safe. Thanks man.
Agreed. The time it takes to use a little precaution and routine is much better than the alternative.
Thank you man. Appreciate, ur help w everything !
Oldhead
More then welcome brother ! Again glad you are ok!
I reiterate oldhead's sentiments glad you are doing better. I don't think the 5/8 is the cause. I use them and have for couple of years now. Also I have very lean legs, we would here of a lot more of this if it was the 5/8 issue. Another guy just got an abscess in his shoulder using a 1.5 inch needle. I believe this has more to do with sterility and oil pooling on oil than anything. Site rotation and sterility is paramount.
Thank you P.I understand sir. But, what I don't understand is. That was first time I pinned quads in long time. The only thing I changed in technique is using the 5/8 ? So, granted I never will really know. But, I'm still not EVER gonna use a 5/8 pin again. That was my first and last time Lol.
Yeah if that happen to me that way I wouldn't ever use them again either! You were wise to get to the hospital when you did though.
Glad you are doing better !
