Help - Total Cholesterol Way Down, but so is HDL

ad

I posted a couple weeks ago asking about cholesterol. I had been eating pretty terribly and consequently, my total cholesterol was high at 277, trig. 205, LDL 189 and HDL 47.

Well, I drastically cleaned up my diet, upped my EFA's and added Red Yeast Rice with CoQ10. Two weeks has past and decided to have my cholesterol checked again, because I'm eager to start my next cycle. Today total chol. is 192 (huge improvement!), trig. 135 (another huge improvement), LDL 143 (borderline, but much better) and HDL 29 (not good).

So why the heck did my HDL plummet? The only thing I have really eaten the last two weeks is chicken, fish, veggies, no wheat products, oats, quinoa, sweet potatoes, and some whey isolate. My supplements haven't changed aside from the RYR since last cholesterol screening. Shouldn't the oats, quinoa, and RYR help with HDL, not crash it?

Another great tool for HDL is garlic, avocado, and mushrooms. I eat 4 cloves garlic a day, two in the morning, two in the evening and will slam an avocado somewhere during the day. I will typically marinate the garlic in balsamic or a left over green olive solution. However, if you cannot stomach that, Kyolic is a decent supplement for garlic.

I eat lots of avocado, garlic and mushrooms. The Kyolic someone else mentioned, I thought in this thread, but I must be blind and don't see where. I'll check that out. Thanks!

Will do. I am not supplementing that. Thanks!

it is under rated, it actually works, i always take my vitamins daily and i add extra vitamin e, to me it is the best vitamin available, it makes me feel really good when im running toxic compounds, its a radicall free scavenger with anti oxidant properties and definatley helps your cholesterol, among other things, i get really black eyes when im exhausted or tired or sffering from lethargy, vitamin e fixes that too.

Good stuff. I really appreciate the tip. I have mostly not supplemented much over the last 8-9 years of lifting natty. I never really believed I needed to, but I don't want to mess with high cholesterol or high bp!

Thanks! I'm really happy with the results, minus my HDL. I'm baffled!
