+ 1 Full time job

ad

Just wanted to ask what is a good full time job for someone that is trying to be a pro bodybuilder where the job would let you eat when you need to every 2 hours?

I'm in sales and on the road all day so it works out pretty good. If you don't mind eating cold chicken breast and fish in the car!

To be within the industry, you can work at a gym. Either a Personal Trainer or Membership Consultant, etc Fire Dept is a really good one. Great pay, a lot of down time. Workout at the fire house, sleep there. One of my friends is an IFBB Pro and he works for the fire dept and goes great with his schedule to compete, etc. You have to take into consideration the cost it takes to turn pro. You may find the perfect job that allows you to eat when you want, but if its minimum wage or slightly above, it will definitely not support you to live plus to turn pro. When I was younger I had the same dream of becoming pro. After talking to a few of them, to sum it up, they pretty much told me to get a great paying job and be huge. to compete for fun. was also told, there barely make any money unless you are at the top which is a VERY small number. there is no retirement plan, most of those guys that compete at the Mr O that are not in the top 5, not only do they not make any money at the show, they pay everything all the way down to the plane ticket and hotel room. Bodybuilding is nothing like other sports, where even if you sit on the bench you make a few 100k a year. You can be at the Mr O, the best of the best, and LOSE money to compete there. Its not the best route to go unless you compete locally, and then on the national level, able to get picked up by some sponsors that can pay your way, then that is different.

Your focus should be on work. Bodybuilding is expensive at all levels, especially at higher levels. I would be more concerned having a good paying, full time career. Without the funds your bodybuilding career will likely come to a halt. You find a way to make the meal timing and training work with the work schedule.

The possibility of turning pro is slim and a lot of guys go for broke trying to get there. Compete because you enjoy it, if success comes, then it was meant to be. I definitely wouldn't suggest prioritizing your life around the hopes to turn pro, in a sport where so very few can actually make a decent living off of it. Not discouraging competing, just saying prioritize things in the right order

That's a good question. My last job I worked construction and my boss always complained I ate to much and drank to much water. A personal trainer would be good or server at a restaurant. Servers only work 4 to 5 hour shifts. And personal trainers can make their own hours once cliental is built up. Its a tough one.
