+ 1 Feel like giving up on gym and diet

ad

Anybody get this way? Definitely been burnt out with work and gym schedule, not sleeping well, eating like crap lately, feel like nothing is working. What do you guys do when you reach your breaking point?

Pandateston's picture

Yeah bro, been there more times than I can count. Burnout is real … especially when work stress + hard training + shit sleep + diet slipping all stack up at once. That combo will crush motivation fast.

One thing a lot of guys overlook: hormone imbalance and certain compounds can trigger serious anhedonia. You literally stop feeling pleasure, drive, purpose. It can get to the point where you feel like giving up on everything. I’ve been there myself, so I’m not just talking theory.

If that’s happening, the move isn’t to push harder … it’s to pull back and assess.

What I’d do in your spot:

Deload for 5–10 days. Train light or take a full break.

Fix sleep first. Without sleep, nothing works.

Clean the diet back up slowly, not perfectly.

Check what compounds you’re running and your dosages. Some stuff absolutely wrecks mood, dopamine, and CNS.

You gotta find the pressure point … what’s actually triggering this … and start fixing that. Once that’s handled, motivation and drive usually come back naturally.

Burnout doesn’t mean you’re weak. It usually means you’ve been pushing too hard for too long without enough recovery.

Deload, reset, breathe, then come back smarter and stronger, Big Bro ! “Gam zeh ya'avor, This too shall pass”

Take a 2-3 month break but don’t stop training just ease it down, actually I would stop training for a month your body and mind need a break and reset.

Definetly agree with getting bloodwork and dropping the aro. On another note I fully understand the feeling from a purely mental aspect, I have bipolar disorder and that was always a struggle, make sure your taking time for you to rest and recover. Do things that are good for your mentality other than working out otherwise you will burn yourself out.

Appreciate the advice everybody, just needed to vent. Going to get back on the horse tomorrow with gym, get diet back in check today. Don't want to be a guy that doesn't lift and take care of himself.

Got a question for ya? What compounds/gear are you running?
Is it possible you’ve crashed your e2? That would explain why your having trouble sleeping and feeling not motivated.

Test p and mast p 40 mg a day, aromasin 12.5 3x a week. Definitely going to drop the aromasin now that you mentioned it. Can't get blood work till the 21st but I'm suspecting your right. Symptoms I've been having are depression/lack of motivation, trouble managing hunger, waking up constantly through the night

Oh, I’m guessing you’ve figured this out, but 12.5 3x week is a lot of AI. It’s usually once or maybe twice a week.

And generally with something like mast or primo it shouldn’t even be needed.

Never liked clomid or aromasin letrozole was the worst I don’t run any of that shit any more if u keep the doses low u don’t need it anyway just my imo, all the best hope u feel better soon.

Aggieguy's picture

Holy shit dude there is your issue!! I would drop the aromasin right away. I guarantee your estrogen is smoked. You have mast which suppresses E2 then you took way too much Ai. I would take an extra dose of Test P to try and help the E2 climb back up and even skip mast a couple days. No wonder why you are depressed and feeling like you do not want to hit the gym anymore.

I have a bunch of tne also, haven't ran bloods since November this is my mistake.

Yeah man use that if you need to get that estrogen up. I would bet money that your E2 is crashed. This explains exactly how you are feeling and it also hinders muscle building.

Wow, I’m glad I asked. I would be amazed if your e2 isn’t crashed. The TNE is a good idea or more Test P. @Aggieguy idea of dropping the mast is a good idea too.
Some also use dbol to recover from crashed e2

Good luck, you should feel much better once it’s recovered!

Like a lot have said, there isn’t one person that never feels like this. Not one. We all get this no matter the level. Get on some Reta, clean up diet, even if that means committing to one meal a day. Like just eggs and oatmeal every morning, start there. Whatever your split is, don’t worry about getting it done in a week. Take your time. I train less days a week than most, I need the rest mentally and physically. Get a nice little pre too doesn’t have to be crazy, and take it one workout out a time man. Do not overwhelm yourself, no reason to. Make sure you have your workouts structured, I feel like people who go into the gym and just do whatever tend to lose motivation quicker because there is no measurement of progress. Track your top sets, improve on them. You’ll be just fine

X2 great advice.

I like to look at motivational shit, pretty much every goes through cycles. Sometimes I wake up and I don't want to get out of bed. Too bad, you planned you're going so you do it. I often begrudgingly workout even if my soul screams don't do it. It's better to get the 20-50% benefit of the workout even if you're dead inside, instead of getting 0% because you don't feel like it. That's discipline. Once I got older I definitely listen to my body more, feeling sharp pain or something like that...stop do something else. But yeah, I wave up and down on motivation, but it doesn't mean I don't go. You don't ride your laurels on motivation, you do it on grit and discipline. Anyone that's ever achieved anything knows this. It's good way to apply to other aspects of your life. Did you see that most very successful people are not huge chunkers?

Lastly with your specific issues? Why are you eating like crap? You control what goes into your mouth. Change it. Bad sleeping? Do you scroll your phone or practice good sleep hygiene. Nothing will work if sleep and diet are off. It's understandable to FEEL helpless, but you're not, you control a lot of these things. Force yourself to do it and its a funny thing your mind will catch up to your body, that's why you need to push sometimes.

Everyone gets this way but then look at yourself in the mirror and ask what do i want to achieve. Do you want to look Jacked or are you okay looking like any other average person out there. The easy way is just giving up and eating whatever the hell you want, but then in the future you will be depressed because you will look like shit and realize that you had such good potential to look above average. Life is busy with work and all so that is where organization comes in. Set time periods for things, I personally give myself 2 hours of gym time each day. Nothing stops me from going in that time slot. This will go for sleep as well, set a time to be in bed and relax. I can tell it's the lack of sleep making you feel this way, you need to get some rest.

Set a goal and work towards that goal. Do not look at the gym as work or as something you just have to do, look at the gym as a place to get away, a place for (me time). I look around and I see guys that have a physique that I want and that is what keeps me going. When someone compliments you and says you look good or you have a nice chest, then that just motivates me even more.

Take a step back. Take a week off lifting, Clean the diet up and focus on sleep. If you aren’t itching to hit the weights after one week off then you don’t want the smoke!

Get a new girlfriend, preferably one with a big round booty, that always gets the man juices flowing. Motivation goes through the roof.

Divorce with a 100ct of viagra in hand and pt141 daily or eod, proceed with caution if papers are not finalized, that can really complicate things. That's an option.

Lastly, switch gyms. New faces, new routines, new equipment, new competition.

Personally tried all of these and they all have their perks.

I’ve been there. When I feel like quitting, it’s usually life stress and lack of sleep, not training. I pull back instead of bailing, keep things simple, chase a few favorite lifts, and focus on recovery until my head clears.

We all get there brother. It usually has more to do with lifestyle factors. I personally don't like to workout when I'm stressed and miserable. I like to workout when I'm Happy and sad/angry (it's a combo effect). I try to get myself in the mindset that fits best before going. Remember, everything we feel is a choice, even happiness.

hard_gains's picture

I've let me diet go several times over the years. But the gym has always been there. I might skip a week here and there when my mind can't get into the workout because of stress or personal shit that's consumes me.

I think sometime everyone wants to quit. I usually just keep showing up when I can. Even a shitty workout is better then nothing. Then after a while something happens that lights a fire under my ass to get back to eating right and working hard.

Step back. Drop the gear down to trt. And just coast for a little while. Probably going to think this is a weird comment but I have some fat friends that are pretty happy with their lives. And they think I'm the retarded who enjoys eating chicken and vegetables 7 days a week.

Try just doing a lighter workout. Don't worry about killing it, just keep the routine.

What's your goal? When did you last change up your training split? Having a deload or complete rest can help, going in to train bodyparts you like for a week or so too could be beneficial for your mind.
Alternatively book a 2 week holiday to Thailand and have a blast!

I've been working out since I was 15. I'll be 60 this year. All the years of chkn and veggies and sweet potatoes as well as brown rice has mentally made me almost sick of eating. Then you add the surgeries for the physical part and it sometimes can be too much. Take some time off when your burnt!
