Fail to plan...plan to fail
Just finished my first cycle. Was reasonably pleased with the cycle I set up and was consistent with the quality and frequency of my workouts. However, though my strength levels were high, my gains were modest at best.
The aspect that I failed to plan and structure was my diet. I was convinced that my protein intake was more than adequate and stumbled along stupidly assuming I was on track. My results suggested otherwise.
My one source of pride was not immediately blaming the gear for my lack of results and did a thorough overhaul of my diet and calculated exactly my protein intake.
Turns out, though my calorie intake was ok, my protein was a miserable 180grams a day (if I was lucky) and weekends it was even worse. At close to 225 pounds to start with, it would have been a miracle to see results. In fact, I'm probably lucky to have maintained and not lost. I have radically changed my diet and now consume 240-260 grams of protein daily in preparation for next cycle.
Basically, the moral of the story is you have to plan everything for your whole cycle, from gear, training and DIET. All aspects are important or you have wasted time and money.
I will consider my next cycle my first now.

hey bro, its valid point and the best thing is that you figured out what went wrong.. i keep telling all the bros "its a carbs game" generally to put on the mass its 1g protein per lbs and 3g of carbs per lbs.. so 225g of protein, 675g of carbs = big mofo for sure
Looks like I will be eating a lot more! :-)
Its more than just protien bro if your trying to put on size carbs are just as important so if you are eating around 250grams of protien than you should eat around 500 grams of carbs and maybe around 80 grams of fat, i am by no means a expert and diet is my weak point but i am just experimenting with diff macro ratios and trying to do as much research as well
Carbs weren't actually too much of a problem really but protein was well down. Working on a few things to get a good ratio like you recommend. Hoping to have reasonably well dialled in by next cycle
I feel ya bro. I broke down my diet several weeks ago. Read food labels, measured and weighed everything. Like you, I was well short. Working out and aas may be the spark plug but without gas (protein), you're not going to go very far.
Too right. My scale is getting good use now. :-)
