contest prep

ad

just curious, for all the stage experienced bros here, how long is your typical contest prep? and typically what is your starting bf% and your contest bf%?

manbearpig's picture

ive done it as fast as 8 weeks. from 185 to 160. and i was about 12%BF at the start.
12 weeks is very common. i think a lot of experienced bbers will go 16 weeks. but keep in mind that their cycles contain "harder" compounds to prevent the muscle wasting. they are also more familiar with the effects their diet has on their body.
some people are different. when you are getting there look for key details such as clear separation where your obliques and lats meet at the obliques' lowest point. at that point you would be ready imo. i have learned that i can diet until i can see the striations on my ass. but some people are not very striated.
some guys have a lot more experience to share here. this is just my experiance.

it really all depends on what your bf% is to start with, most ppl start at 16 weeks, i know a few people who start at 20 weeks out and adjust accordingly from there. As for body fat for being on stage 5% or lower, this is just the lightest overview I can help you with, there is a lot lot lot that goes into contest prep
