+ 6 Building an Appetite

ad

I figure it's about time I post something helpful around here. Hopefully this can help someone.

I've struggled with a weak appetite my whole life. I feel like I have learned a few things over the years that really help. Maybe we can put together a thread that will have some solid info about learning to eat big.

The first thing I've noticed is that my appetite follows my mood. The better my mood the better my appetite. They say that men eat when they are happy and women when they are unhappy. So the single most important factor involved in eating big is to stay happy and stress free. Sometimes this is no small endeavor. This is what I've found helps the most.

KEEP ESTROGEN IN CHECK. I used to go by my nipples to determine whether I needed an anti estrogen or not, but that's too late. Aromasin is great stuff, and very available. I take 6.25 mg daily or 12.5 mg EOD, I cannot believe the difference it makes. My mood is so much better when I keep estrogen low. Looking better and having excellent blood pressure are an added bonus.

Vitamin D - find a high bioavailable vitamin D3. There are some great drops out there - one or two drops a day is plenty. I go for 2-4000 IUs daily. Vitamin D is fat soluable and you can over do it. Ever notice you are happier in the summer - vit d is probably why.

Vitamin B12. I do 1000 mcg twice a week. This helps with energy and appetite. Almost any doctor will write a script for it - or order online. If you are low you will notice a big difference almost immediately. There are some good sublingual pills and drops but they aren't nearly as bioavailable.

Phosphatylserene this is a phospho lipid that will do wonders in lowering cortisol. If you don't know cortisol is the stress hormone released from the adrenal glands. Usually when testosterone is high, cortisol is low but not always. Overtraining, over reliance on stimulants, stress and genetics can create very high levels of cortisol. My appetite is weak when my adrenals are burnt.

Ginseng. I know studies vary on the health benefits of ginseng, but it does help with my appetite. Get the good aged root from an Asian market or those little bottles of liquid. It must lower blood sugar because an hour after infesting I'm starving.

Digestive enzymes. If you feel stuffed and bloated after a meal try a decent enzyme. I like a multi enzyme that will break down fats, carbs and proteins. A good enzyme should make it possible to eat a large pizza and feel fine within an hour or so. DigestGold is what I use, great stuff.

Apple cider vinegar. Withdrawl got me on this stuff for blood pressure - which helps a ton by the way. I use 1/4 cup every morning of the raw stuff with mother. Bragg is a good company. I'm not sure if this is balancing my pH and a healthy pH is accommodating a better appetite or what but it's helping. I actually look forward to the taste now. I just feel all around healthier taking the stuff.

GHRP's. Someone else should probably chime in about this because the growth hormone releasing peptides don't make me hungry like they do some people. When I first read about GHRP-6 I thought all my problems had been solved, so I instantly ordered. I tried both 2 and 6 without much luck. I did order from a top source here and I got the face flush so I know it was decent stuff. But for anyone with a weak appetite this stuff could make all the difference in the world. It's like $25 for 5 mg, try 100 - 250 mcg a couple times a day on empty stomach. Peptides are great for bulking without putting on too much body fat. If you haven't messed around with them do it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Another thing I've noticed is that my face doesn't bloat like it did on previous bulks without the peptides.

Don't drink too much near your meals. Water dilutes stomach acid and digestive enzymes. I drink no water with meals and I try to leave a gap before and after meals. So many people get in the habit of washing meals down with water or other beverage - hopefully your food isn't that bad you need to wash it down. This small adjustment can make a huge difference. Think about the precious stomach volume you are taking up with all that calorie free liquid.

Make tasty food choices. Getting sick of eating two lbs of chicken and rice everyday? Who wouldn't be? Make some decent food there is so much great food out there why eat boring stuff all the time. Go to the library and grab a bunch of cookbooks. Or hit up one of those huge grocery stores and pick up some new food choices. If your house is full of amazing food you'd be surprised how much this helps stimulate appetite.

The previous meal sets the tone for the next meal. Eat a big breakfast! Don't have time use a weight gain shake or make one. My appetite is notoriously weak in the morning, but ever since I started forcing down a 1000 cal shake it's been a total different story. I work at 5 am so I don't have lots of time, so I get everything set and it takes 2 minutes to get down 1000 cals and 60 grams protein. I've also noticed that eating a heavy meal just before bed really helps with morning appetite. Ice cream and a casein shake is my new favorite.

Don't eat too clean. I've noticed that if I try to eat too clean I cannot get my calories in. If my appetite is a little off ill grab a bag of small snickers candy bars and add three or four to every meal. If your body fat is high obviously avoid this at all costs. But I'm lean and I can get away with it. Some days I'm just not as hungry - this used to piss me off, now it makes me happy. It's junk food day. I can eat anything I fucking want. Ill get my 400 grams of protein (thanks to Vike) and the rest is eat whatever I want. Today I'm going to Chipotle to grab a couple burritos, then the bakey for these amazing brownies, then ice cream, I already had 4 donuts this morning. As long as I hit my protein I'm not going to worry about the rest.

I'd finish this but I'm literally starving right this minute thinking about all that food. I can't wait.

I typed this on a smart phone so forgive the grammar and spelling.

Hope some of these suggestions help and I'm sure other people have more. Have a great day everyone.

Appreciate the write up bro. I'm getting the food down but it's a battle. Summer time is tough for me. I'm definitely interested in checking out the enzymes.

Very good write up brother! +1 it took me about a year to get where I could consume more than 4000 cal per day but once I got there I'm hungry ALL the time!
