arms falling asleep

ad

I've been having a problem for a few years with my arms falling asleep, going numb, and slight shoulder pain while I sleep. It usually starts off with my shoulders aching and going numb and eventually moving down my arms. It really doesn't matter how I lay, on my side, on my stomach, on my back, and arms in various positions and they still go numb. I toss and turn most of the night and have a lot of trouble sleeping. It doesn't matter if im on cycle or off cycle, it still happens. My question is what in the world do you guys think could be causing this ? Does anyone else have this problem? Is this a sign of poor circulation? If I were to go to a doctor what tyoe of doctor should I see?

I went through something similar tell your doctor to skip all the test and tell him to do a nerve conductive study.

Naproxen and wrist splints solved my problem. Trust me I feel your pain.

Hi Jansen!
Just by reading and kinda remote diagnosis it soundsmost likely that ur radius and / or ulnaris nerve (nervs running through well actually over the elbow) might be compressed.
Do u have pins and needles i ur hand / fingers when u lay in bet and read or resting ur elbows on hard surfaces?
The pain in the shoulders could refer to some impengement syndrom...
just a through. go get it checked

Oh, no changes in range of motion. Actually ran into my gp in the gym last night and he said that he has the same issues and just figures its from growth.

Not sure the situation but I have blood work done periodically and when my estrogen levels are on the high side I get tingling in my hands arms and feet and they also fall asleep easily while sitting or while in bed. I sometimes cannot even ride my Harley because I have ape hangers and my arms are extended and up and within 10 miles i cannot feel my hands and fingers. Once i realized it was from my trt low dose test and the high estrogen it produces, I took matters in my own hands and keep my estrogen almost crashed, I now have no water weight, no swelling and I never tingle and fall asleep in my limbs. That is just my situation, not sure it pertains to yours but getting your estrogen levels checked could be insightful.

Edit: To add, I also had a pint of blood drained to thin my blood out some, and trust me this all helps in the situation you described. Stay away from blood thinners just donate a pint of blood or have your doc drain a pint. In my situation because I take finasteride I cannot give blood so I have it drained a couple times a year.

Yeah I've got a slight discomfort in them no matter which way I lay.this may be a stupid question but what does ROM changes mean?

Range of Motion

From what my GP has told me, tingling and "falling asleep" issues are nerve related, not circulatory involved. Hope that helps some. He also said it was quite common

Any pain? ROM changes?

when I wake up it takes a good 30 seconds to get my hands to work, I cant even turn off the alarm cause my fingers are so numb and often I wake with needle like pricks going through my arms and hands. Hate that shit, does it to me more on cycle then off. shoulder pains when I sleep with my areas above my head like when grabbing the pillow to make it so its not flat. and yes when I hit shoulders hard, they will develope way to fast, I have actually had this same numbing shit going on in the gym, lately I havent been going heavy at all on my shoulders.

Thanks for all the great info guys! Also thanks for the link, it was a good read. Im kinda thinking its from new mass and growth. Im very vascular in my shoulders and within the last 6 months I cant even get a 25g pin to go in. Im cutting right now and have made some significant changes in the last few months so that is probably part of the problem. I still want to talk to my dr and get his opinion. If anyone else has something to add or any suggestions on how to get some relief then please do.

I have noticed a connection over the last 2 years to my aas use and my limbs going numb, so for me i know it has something to do with it but i still dont understand why. i was browsing old posts and came across a old post from popeboy who was having this same issue a few years ago

I'm not quite sure what is causing it, I would think it's a lack of blood flow to your arms maybe from all the mass? I'm not sure if you've drastically changed your frame within the past couple of years but that COULD be a small factor. I'm no dr, and like @Makwa said it's best to go see your dr and either get his opinion or a referral to get that checked out.

Go see your GP. They will refer you to a specialist if needed.
