A while back i wrote the two articles above> They are very relevant in our profession, so you might want to read them if you havent already.

In these article i discussed anntibiotics and using them att he onset of an infection.

Nitti; one of our moderators liked the articles but pointed out a few very valid points. So, i thought I'd address them here.

We get lots of lumps and bumps in this, but most are simply painful swelling from the damage caused by the needle, tissue aggravation by the carrier oil used, and the preservatives and solvents needed to keep them in solution.

However, i have seen horror stories on here from contaminated vials. And believe me as thorough as you may be it is very easy to contaminate a syringe or vial. If you are careful, and buy from good sources and do all you can to keep the enviornment sterile; these problems are rare at best.

Howver, when it does happen you should know the signs. When a bump gets bigger andf bigger every day, and is either red,and/or hot it could be an abcess. If you have a fever get to an ER! Don't be heroic!

I do keep antibiotics on hand and if a bump starts to get suspicious UI might use them, but I don't use them randomly or often. It's got to be pretty scary before I comitt.

Nitti did point out that there are so many dangers of use and overuse of antibiotics. Here are few from a reliable souce:
Arm Yourself Against Too Many Antibiotics
The cost of antibiotic resistance is high, both literally and from a health perspective. Literally, while it costs only $12,000 to treat a patient who has tuberculosis that responds to antibiotics, the cost soars to $180,000 for a patient with a multidrug-resistant strain.

From a health perspective, the cost of antibiotic resistance is an increase in the seriousness of disease. For example, treating a person with tuberculosis caused by a strain that is killed by antibiotics is highly effective. In contrast, between 40 and 60% of people who get antibiotic-resistant tuberculosis die.

The cost of misuse of antibiotics can be a weakened immune system. Researchers found that certain patients taking antibiotics had reduced levels of cytokines, the hormone messengers of the immune system. When your immune system is suppressed, you're more likely to develop resistant bacteria or to become sick in the future.
Here are steps to take to use antibiotics properly:

Take antibiotics only for bacterial infections.
Take antibiotics the right way. If you are prescribed an antibiotic, it's crucial that you take the entire course.
Don't use antibiotics to try to prevent infection.
Don't save or share antibiotics.
Avoid antibacterial hand soaps and lotions.

Not mentoned here are the possibilities or fungal skin infections from the overkilling of skin bacteria. If you do use an antibiotic you need strong doses of a good probiotic to combat the damge it will do the good bacteria in your intestines and the flora linings.

There are amny good and powerful antibiotcs that have broad spectrum effects. I will not make a specific recommendation. However....the following is a link that will give you specifics on any antibiotic you may consider.

It includes uses, dosages, and side effects! If you are going to keep and occassionally us an antibiotic....
DO YOUR RESEARCH! And bewaqre the benefits and consequences;

Look these drugs up here http://www.drugs.com

It is a very helpful site for al drugs as well.

Excellent read, I am an antibiotic whore in the sense. I tend to take them when I get respiratory infections, since I work construction and am outdoors alot it may be a few times a year. I should attempt to limit them unless completely necessary. Really makes you think...

If you think humans are given too many antibiotics, it's nothing compared to the amount of antibiotics given to livestock and poultry. And unsurprisingly, alot of the nasty strains that are resistant to multiple antibiotics have originated from livestock and poultry. It's laughable when we talk about humans being given too many antibiotics when farm animals are given antibiotics every single day of their lives.

I'm very aware of what they feed and administer to Livestock...scary!

why avoid anti bacterial soap ?

johnmarshall12's picture

Bacterial soaps can cause a resistant strain then if u det sick an bacteria that should be cured with a specific antibiotic won't! Also you run a higher risk of fungal infections on your skin.

A good read.

But posting it in a dozen or so SI pages is a little bit Karma Whoring obvious, don't you think?

johnmarshall12's picture

I'm not here for Karma lol I'm here to help as many people as i can in whatever ways i can. If posting it drives more people to the article and helps them then that's my reward.

I'm a med researcher, and help people whenever I can. I charge nothing and there is no Karma. But if I show a type 1 diabetic that getting an insulin pump can change their lives then I'm happy. you'd be surprised at how many diabetics don't know it exiists.

It acts like an artificial Pancreas, and is as close to a cure as anything in decades.

As AAS users we too have an obligation to inform people who are sick of the benefits of these drugs outside of bodybuilding.

Good steroids are immunostimulative and can save lives. HGH reverses Congestive Heart Failure and heals injuries very quickly. Spread the word whenever you can, When you see lives change that will be the real Karma!

I understand what you're saying, Mate.

But once you've made your posting on the board, you don't need to spread your posting in each and every SI page on the board either.

Helping others, I FULLY agree with.

The difference in price when someone is resistant to antibiotics is crazy. Cant believe that. This is why I hate that dermatalogists give out antibiotics like candy for acne when they dont cure anything. If they do work at some point you will become resistant and the acne will come back, or when you've been on them for to long and have to come off the acne comes back. Ive dealt with it first hand. They had me on them for over a year, and one of them is the only antibiotic that will treat MRSA. This over prescribing of antibiotics is gonna cause or already is causing these super strains of drug resistant bacteria. +2

Beautiful write up. I've posted about antibiotics as well in the past. When I turned 18(11 yrs ago) the first thing I did was go to the dermatologist. He prescribed me minocycline. Bro I took these for years because I was absolutely obsessed with having clear skin. Well about the 3rd year in my stomach just stopped working. I had killed all the good bacteria and the bad bacteria in my belly and I had ulcers and still have a hiatal hernia. What my dermatologist failed to tell me was that I was supposed to take probiotics too to replenish my good bacteria. Now I can't eat red meat or salad or anything that is gastric or citric. My body just won't digest it. So yes it is good to keep antibodies on hand but be careful. If it's bad enough to take antibiotics then you should be at the doc.

I'm so familiar. When i was a kis they had me on Tetrracycline for years for acne. Same exact problems as you had. So unessecary!

Have you tried a really good probiotic? It may really help over time.

cmo25cent's picture

I tried many of them. The best thing that helps me the most is a digestive aid called konsyl. It's been my best friend since I figured out how to control my damaged system.
