Anyone familiar with Rhabdomyolysis

ad

I went to the hospital the other night because I got in a fight with my girlfriend and she cut my neck. But when I arrived at the hospital that wasn't there biggest concern. They said I had something worse which was Rhabdomyolysis. It has to do with the breakdown of muscle in some way. I really have no clue about this and don't really have any knowledge on this. So if anyone can shed some light or has experienced this. Please let me know.

I have had it a few times.. ankles swelled up like grapefruits because kidneys were so stressed. Instantly admitted to hospital for iv banana bags and electrolites ect.....
Stayed 5 days until my creatinine ct when down to acceptable levels.....it can kill u if its severe and not treated. But as one guy previously said if u train heavy constantlt u may have elevated creatinine ( not creatine) levels and that could be read as such. Rest and stay hydrated.

According to my blood work I have clinical Rhabdomyolysis. But wait I don’t actually. Very common for Ck to be significantly enough raised in heavy lifters especially those of us who train heavy on consecutive days of the week and then happen to have a blood test to be hit with a Rhabdomyolysis diagnosis. If you are worried take a week off lifting and hydrate normally then go for another blood test. Then lift again as normal for a week staying week hydrated and blood test again and wham I bet you have another case of “Rhabdo”.

Makwa has a post on this. I had serotonin syndrome from a medication interaction last month and was diagnosed in the hospital through blood work. I’ve had it several other times from seizures. Not fun. They hook u up to fluids for a day to flush ur system then tell u to keep drinking a ton of water. Make sure u get in enough electrolytes as well

That's exactly what they did. I was hooked up to iv's. They loaded me up with fluids.the first three bags of fluids didn't even make me urinate which they they should have. I was so damn dehydrated supposedly. I stayed for 24 hours then they said to drink 2 to 3 litres of water a day.

Rhabdo is a very a serious condition. Also know as cross fit disease. Can be fatal if you continue to push your body past its threshold. Eat more protein and stay hydrated! Good Luck

I was admitted for 24 hours. They said when I go home to make sure that drink 3 to 4 liters of water a day. I went in for a laceration but then they did blood and found that out.

Usually they put you on fluids and wait for your body to stop falling apart and hope you aren’t permanently damaged. Did they admit you? What was your CK? If you were truly in a state of rhabdomyolysis then you would have been in an exceptional amount of pain.

I believe Makwa had experience with it. Might wanna reach out to him/ read his forums.

I think that's the biggest lesson here.

As far as rhabdo goes, I didn't think anyone outside of crossfit got that, but I'd hope if you had it they woulda told you what to do at the hospital. Your kidney's could shut down if you have it. They need to pump you full of electrolytes and shit I think.

Lol, some solid advice there, but easier said than done. 99.9% of them are crazy, so the odds of sticking your dick in a sane one are probably worse than your odds of winning the lottery.....

It’s true that ALL women are crazy. You just need to find ones that are on the lower end of crazy. A crazy you can live with.

Amen brother

Agreed 100%. I'm pretty much good with not try to cut my head off because i forgot to take out the trash crazy as a general rule.

The Impastable's picture

If 99.9% of the women you’re meeting are crazy, you need to look elsewhere and stop trying to get laid at the psych ward.

Lol, yeah, and you don't want to limit the field of play, keep all options open.

That's debatable but what I can say is, they are not all "cut your neck crazy"

If you were truly rhabdo, they would have wanted to admit you because that can lead to kidney failure, coma, death.... how was it diagnosed? What was their intervention?
