What's the biggest challenge facing Americans today?

Between rising costs, housing affordability, healthcare expenses, public safety concerns, and political division, many people feel the country is headed in the wrong direction. Which issue concerns you most, and what changes would you like to see?

Seeing the real picture.

Our freedoms are slowly getting taken away. They always go it under the guise as safety.
Also prices of EVERYTHING!!! They will have complete control over us once they go door to door and take all guns away. They went door to door already and took them a few times so far. They are testing it out to see what happens. Yeah the masses won in court to get their guns back but only a few got them. Once they do this we’re fucked
We all see how the government is a machine to have control over us. All the programs to help people are getting cut. I oaid 26,000$ a year in taxes give or take and when I need help for my autistic son they say those programs were cut. But the politicians have millions for taking kickbacks and scams. They have money to Bomb a country that has never one time invaded the US. They are going to eventually enslave us. Not like back when there were slaves In America when we were just starting out but they will tax us so much to steal our money that we will be working just to survive. Then if we complain they will jail us and starve our families out. The program in NYS for Autostic children was taken over by the state with new laws. Then they hired a bunch of no show people some are relatives if NY politicians. The one guy they call laps because he gets paid 8,000$ a month to walk around the office the case loads use to be 15 a person but now that they fired a bunch of people to steal more money they have 70 on a case load. They can’t help people that way I know this because my gf works at one of those places. The government is stealing out tax money from all these scams and they never get in trouble. They get caught every few weeks and nothing happens. America has a lot of problems with the government being ran by crooks.

-There is a shit cultural that has invaded our youth. Public schools are the breeding grounds
- An absolutely alarming number of people lack pretty basic reasoning abilities
- our public education system has failed
- as a society we continually just lower standards instead of lifting people up to meet them
- and my controversial hot take…most “mental health issues” are bullshit. Not that they don’t exist for some. But it’s way overblown. People lack the ability to reason, don’t have a consciously defined value system rooted in some kind of logical system that they understand, and don’t have purpose. Most people’s mental issues are really philosophical issues. They aren’t aligned with anything and therefore drift through life feeling unfulfilled and purposeless

HAHAHAHAAA

Tbh I'm all for people getting Arrested if they are saying Offensive and Bullying things online to other people, or stirring up shit that isn't true. Not on anonymous sites like this - But things like Facebook where kids are being bullied by others at school and so on. If someone recorded a phone call and is being threatened by another person - then they would be arrested for it. Doing it online is as bad and its also recorded/written down so there is no way of getting out of it. Free speech about life in General or the Government no problem - but against others if its bad enough then no. Should be ZERO tolerance for it.

Greg's picture

On line threats are illegal. Which is what you're talking about.

In the United States, the First Amendment provides near-absolute protection for speech. The government cannot criminalize expression based on content or viewpoint, no matter how offensive, hateful, or distressing it may be. Under U.S. law, speech can only be restricted or prosecuted if it meets exceptionally high legal thresholds, such as a "true threat" or direct "incitement to imminent lawless action."
In the United Kingdom and much of Europe, there is no equivalent to the First Amendment. While the UK recognizes freedom of expression, it treats speech as a qualified right that must be balanced against public safety, order, and the prevention of disorder or crime. Consequently, British law explicitly criminalizes certain types of speech that are fully protected in the U.S.
Key legal mechanisms driving this difference include:
Communications and Public Order Laws: UK statutes—such as Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003, the Malicious Communications Act 1988, and the Public Order Act 1986—make it a criminal offense to send or post messages that are deemed "grossly offensive," "indecent," "obscene," or of a "menacing character," or to send false messages with the intent to cause "annoyance, inconvenience, or needless anxiety."
Arrests for Online Activity: Under these laws, British police actively arrest individuals for social media posts, comments, or shared memes that cause distress or anxiety to others. Thousands of arrests are made annually in the UK for online speech crimes that would be considered legally protected speech under the U.S. Constitution.
The Online Safety Act: Recently enacted UK legislation further tightens regulations on digital platforms, adding criminal penalties for spreading false information or sending "threatening communications" online.

Bottom line, guns protect our constitutional rights.

Our constitution defines what a government CAN'T do. European constitution(s) outline what the government will ALLOW you to do. A Big Difference. As you're finding out now.

I would still much rather live under a UK Government and laws than the US version - I feel MUCH safer here than over there. Look at what happened to that Woman/Dyke who tried to drive off from ICE some months back now and she was blasted to death in her vehicle. Look at that demonstrator who posed no threat and had his hands behind his back yet was still shot and basically executed.

NOTHING good comes from Guns being everywhere - EVER.

Is there even really a UK left or is that holding on by a shoestring as invaders stab cut and drive over the native citizens ok? 3 years tops and every native citizen is replaced with the govt there bringing em in by the boatload via Frances help. You may not need a 2a backup but rest assured they already are armed and will win in one swift maneuver. You can't guard your family by hiding or a cricket bat with savages posting up the old ak..... Your people being arrested and sent to learning re-education jails while durkas decimate your land. Rape is OK because the cops and law won't help citizens. What in reality is your form of protection? Literally...because the times on its last tick. My roots stem from England. Guess there's always and end to everything.

I would suggest you visit the US before Judgeing the US on that you see on TV.

We have national parks bigger than Great Britain. The EU can fit into the US twice with room to spare. The entire global Population, each given 1 square meter to stand in would fit in Brewster County Texas.

While the EU population is only 32% larger, its total raw crime volume is roughly 105% larger (about 21.5 million offenses in the EU versus 10.5 million in the US).

We removed God out of everything and look where our nation is today. Those who dont believe in God or a god still cant deny the nation has been down spiraling since its been removed from schools, theater, books and government. We still need a moral standard no matter what you believe in. You cant totally remove law, order, ethics and morals, nuclear family and stable role models and not have a replacement but push anarchy.

Crazy to read that Liberals/Democrats are ruining the country when Republicans are in control of all three branches of the government. The president sued his own government and his DOJ made a settlement so those who donated to his campaign are getting paid back. Settlement also included that he, his family and their businesses cannot be audited! Wake tf up people. Biggest one?!?! The Epstein files! Release the whole thing(unredacted) and get all them pedos punished. Democrat or Republican! Fuck em all! I’d imagine if the files were released, it would be a coming together moment for America and her citizens! Kind of like after 9/11.

Idk if you’ve ever seen the Disney movie called “The Road to El Dorado” but there’s a scene where the main characters, two thieves, get into a “fight” in which they slyly rob from the spectators whilst they push and throw each other about.

That’s exactly what the democrats/liberals and republicans/conservatives are doing. They both work for the same side and they put on a theatric spectacle of noble and valiant efforts to fight “the other side” as they line their pockets and make shady backdoor deals akin to mafia bosses divvying up the ill gotten profits.

That’s why inflation continues to rise as the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and literally nothing changes. We lost our rebellious spirit as a country. George Washington would likely have their heads on a pike by now.

I’m by no means saying that what Luigi Mangione did was right but it was the most American thing I’ve heard of since 1776…

We have to stop people from abusing the welfare system. We have to provide food and shelter for the homeless and oppose racial discrimination and promote civil rights while also promoting equal rights for women but change the abortion laws to protect the right to life yet still somehow maintain women’s freedom of choice. We also have to control the influx of illegal immigrants. We have to encourage a return to traditional moral values and curb graphic sex and violence on TV, in movies, in popular music, everywhere. Most importantly we have to promote general social concern and less materialism in young people - American Psycho - Ellis, Bret Easton 1991

The biggest issue I see is the American dream being shattered. Housing is unaffordable and they keep flooding our country with immigrants that do not love the Constitution or Country and do not have our values and way of living. Slowly our laws will change and we will no longer be that Free Country but be ruled by immigrants and their way of thinking.
Our highways are overcrowded, our hospitals are full and crowded, our schools are full and crowded, all because they flooded us with internationals.

It is worth taking some time to understand the stages of ideological subversion as deployed by Soviet Russia and is a well proven Marxist methodology:

1) DEMORALIZATION
2) DESTABILIZATION
3) CRISIS
4) “NORMALIZATION”

With that context, notice information operations, social media amplification, and subversive messaging to exploit societal divisions.

The rest is (related) noise.

Damn... reading through these comments, it's clear that a lot of people are seeing and feeling the same things.

I agree with much of what's been said, and it's disappointing to see how far America and much of the world has drifted from the principles of individual liberty, personal responsibility, and freedom that we were founded upon.

I could dive into a lot of theories and observations about what's happening behind the scenes, but at this point I don't think I'd be adding much that hasn't already been discussed.

What frustrates the hell out of me is how divided we've become. Whether that division happened naturally or was encouraged by those in positions of power, the result is the same, ordinary people spend more time fighting each other than working together on the issues that affect all of us.

The reality is that we have far more in common than we're led to believe. If Americans could focus on shared values instead of constant division, we could create meaningful change. There are far more of us than there are people in positions of power.

United, we're powerful. Divided, we're easy to manage.

That's something worth thinking about.

Notmelgibson's picture

Groupthink. Unfortunately people, all of us, can be manipulated with varying levels of ease. Also, there’s an epidemic of moral cowardice. People don’t have the backbone to stand up for that which is righteous and good. Instead they let that which is malevolent and evil have its way with society. Their lack of action makes them complicit. They’re espousing of certain ideals only facilitates its widespread adoption. Those ideals are dressed up as political and ethical ideologies which if you do not accept you are ostracized and considered a bad person. You’re given a label completely out of touch with reality. The firestorm these ideas create are seen in situations like when a young innocent women gets violently stabbed to death on a bus. An NOT A SINGLE PERSON LIFTS A FINGER. This is not an isolated incident. It’s an outgrowth caused by cancerous ideas that have metastasized and spread throughout American society. Moral cowardice is a calamity worse than death.

Very insightful and well written sentiment, which hits the nail on the head. Unfortunately, this thread proves it 100%. We in fact, have way more in common than we do differences. The MAN has us just where they want us “United we stand, divided we fall”. Propaganda and social media has sped the process never thought imaginable before. The hooks are deep.

I may be in the minority here but I believe a big issue that is growing rapidly is the increase of science denial and the platforming of conmen. It seems like COVID did irreparable damage to the trust in any scientific research and now everyone’s uncle is a flat earth, vaccine denying, 5G crazed lunatic lmao.
I think the issue will only continue to get worse for a long time, especially due to the current political climate.

obviously pricing is a big concern, but the FOOD/water is probably #1. yes i know there is somewhat real food out there. but almost all the food at stores is p0is0n and most dont even know it. they need to fix our food. everything is gm0 or bi0engineered plus all the preservatives and fake stuff they use now. we are paying to be p0isoned everyday and people are either uninformed or too ignorant to accept it because they live in a bubble and everything they beleive is right and everybody else is wrong. and theres not much way around and if you try its very expensive.

it truly is a joke. people just want to eat garbage so they market things as healthy trying to make the fat people feel better about themselves. but its sadly working because people are so dumb and ignorant, they are right about everything. you can tell them grass is green and the sky is blue and they will tell you that you are wrong if they think otherwise. they have succeeded in their br@inwashing of most people. they watch f@ke news and beleive everything they see. its so sad

Not doing a goddamn thing about known pedophiles in office or high ranking positions. They need to be burned at the stake. Then we can focus on other things like politicians taking bribes and doing insider trading. How does someone making $140,000 a year all of a sudden become worth $10+M after just one term.
