Raw liquid egg whites…a waste??
So I’ve read many places that your body only absorbs 50% of the protein of raw egg whites compared to cooked. It seems to be agreed upon by everyone and not really disputed (I don’t think). So if that true then a whole carton of egg whites is 100g so youd only get 50 grams of protein if you drank the whole thing. It hardly seems worth it. At MOST youd drink half of it in one sitting, even that’s pushing it, so that’s only 25g. So here’s my question, is there any other benefit to drinking these besides connivence? If it would cost 3$ to get 50 grams of protein from chicken, is there any reason to pay 7$ for these egg whites? I guess they are a “high quality” and easily digested protein source, but is there any real world benefit there? Are they magically anabolic like that douche bag says quail eggs are?lol Any input would be appreciated or if anyone can dispute that absorption rate, I’d be interested to hear it, thanks fellas!

My breakfast:
Smoothie with whey protein, fruits (such as bananas or berries), oatmeal, and almond milk.
Egg whites (raw or cooked) in the form of an omelet with vegetables (spinach, tomatoes, bell peppers).
I eat egg whites every morning. I cook em though. Egg whites, waffles, oatmeal, and sometimes lamb or chicken.
The key is you cook them. Good eating
I drink them every morning. 200g egg whites, 240ml unsweetened almond milk, 1 whole egg & 1 scoop of whey protein.
KonstantViktoryI never really cared to go out of the way to use egg whites. A great amino acid profile, no doubt, but the whole egg better suits my purposes.
When considering spending the extra money for a protein spectrum of events, I often look for multi source options. Typically the better protein includes egg whites.
Overall I think I'd rather just stick to plain old over easy and some buttered sourdough.
I know Jay Cutler, Rich Piana, and many other popular and successful bodybuilders have successful implemented egg whites into their diet plans. As a power and strength priority, I tend to stick with other options.
I’m not looking to eat crazy clean so I’d rather eat whole eggs but just out of convenience I can chug the cartons of egg whites or pour them in other drinks and stuff
KonstantViktoryThere's so many different theories on this topic.
A common one is that raw egg whites will not be absorbed and used completely if there isn't enough biotin in the stomach. For that reason it's recommended to supplement biotin with egg whites when eaten raw.
Also, this raises the question of quality in pasteurized and preserved egg whites, like "muscle egg" ; versus egg whites that are to remain refrigerated from the grocery store.
I honestly have no idea what to think, I've never used egg whites in that depth. I know lots of people who have had dramatic success and swear by the product "muscle egg"
It's great fun but without disrupting the avidin, the bioavailability is minimal. So you gotta cook em.
Been drinking whole raw eggs since I was a teenager.
I have to admit - I did actually do this when I first ever played with weights about 16 years old. Had no idea what I was doing but thought it was cool as the guys did it in films lol I would put 6 eggs with yolks, 1 banana and some milk all in a blender and then put it in a pint glass. Tasted absolutely bloody disgusting, have me horrific spots all over my face and greasy skin - I guess thats why you remove the yolks! Didn't notice anything from doing it at all, it was when Salmonella was fairly rife over here too
I bought the Egg white protein powder a while back but had one serving and binned it as it was pretty awful.
People still drinking raw eggs for protein? I thought that was the 1970s shit before they came out with all these protein drinks and they had no choice for source of protein?
Not worth in my opinion. But yea that's what they did back then. Lol raw eggs and milk
The cartons of liquid egg whites have zero taste and are pasteurized so they are safe. They’re good for adding protein to shakes and stuff, that’s actually real good protein instead of powder. Like if you mix it with chocolate milk, it’s as easy a protein shake and as much protein but it’s real food.
I drank a carton a day for about three weeks a couple months ago. Drinking egg whites are for the men that want this shit. Drink those fucking eggs!!!
I’ll do whatever it takes. BUT I don’t wanna be drinking 10$ bottles of raw eggs for nothing. But I just see it as an easy way to drink real food instead of more powders.
I know you saw Rocky movie man!
Ok, 80s
Nah, you were right, the first Rocky was released in 1976
Sounds messed up but sometimes I wish I could of grew up in that era...simpler times man. Golden era bodybuilding too. Those guys were legends Jake KO.
I was six years old, and my parents took us to see Rocky in the theater. Been hooked ever since
Also if anyone has an idea of how to meal prep using sweet potatoes, I’d appreciate it. If I make them with dinner I’ll either cut them into fries or eat like a baked potato but Thise aren’t very good ways for meal prepping. I can’t really think of a good way to make ‘em so they’d still be good when reheated and easy.
I rinse mine, scrub them. Superficially cut the skin from end to end (4-6 times around it) and bake them @450 for an hour. Pull them, let them cool for a little bit. Skin peels right off, then I mash them and portion them.
I buy frozen sweet potato disk from my store. Labeled as yams I think but correct me if I'm wrong, it's the same thing. No sugar added either.
Yes there the same thing. And what do you do just like microwave em?
Yea they're already cooked, they come out soft once thawed and heated
Im gonna still drink them.... And count them
I like the way you think buddy
On my french toast i mix 1 scoop protein and 2 tables spoons water and mix into an icing and put it ontop of my french toast
Sorry meant to reply to seeohshow comment
Disclaimer I’m not affiliated with these folks at all but https://www.muscleegg.com/ sells flavored egg whites. I’ll use that to make French toast using that 45 “low carb” bread. Can make a big ass plate of French toast that’s got 60-70g of protein and barely any cals for the volume. I always use sugar free syrup, so that flavor doesn’t bother me. Only downside is all that fiber in that bread and total protein amount gives me some gnarly gas lol. I’m not gangsta enough to drink egg whites raw, so I can’t contribute to that part.
Lol I'm not gangsta enough to drink egg whites either. I aint Rocky Balboa lol. But I just wish egg protein powder was more available at a more economical price.
It’s fuckin nasty
Yep. I remember trying to drink once as a kid.
How foolish was I
I tried it again last year. The consistency is just not for me.
Same here.
Damn, that sounds good
Convenient is key. I used to drink my egg whites but add a scoop of protein powder in it
So even if i get 50% the other 50 would be the protein oowder. I don’t usually use eggs whites anymore unless i use it for french toast on weekends with the family
Ya I haven’t used them in awhile but I just bought some today without thinking about this absorption crap but I used to/will put them in shakes with protein, milk, peanut butter, whatver else. I’m having some digestion issues so I’m changing up my diet and started making shakes with kale and apples and blueberries and stuff to get tons of fiber, I was thinking of maybe adding the eggs whites too
Keep me posted on what uou find works for your digestion. What really works
Goodluck man
I try the glutamine, apple cider vinegar, santa cruz organic lemonade, digestive enzyme pills And pineapple with my meat meals wich really helps with my bloating,
