Suggestions for cheaper carb sources
ad
Hey guys so I’m trying to make a diet and for breakfast I’m trying find a cheaper carb than bagels and trying to avoid rice cause I already eat that like 4 or 5 times a day. Just wondering what I can eat to get in 100g of carbs without having to eat like 20oz of potatoes or 300g of rice. Any suggestions would be appropriated.
Also if you have any cheap food options for anything just post it up, always happy to hear new ideas

What about pineapple post workout
Google complex carb sources. It's not about the quantity of carbs it's the quality. Fast carbs like dextrose based are in and out, gummy bears as an example. Oatmeal is a complex carb, granola, e.t.c. you need minimal processed carbs for better absorption.
That’s what I aim to do with all my food tbh. The only sugar I really get in is only from fruit
Be careful about sugar from fruit too. Mangos grapes and cherries are loaded with sugar 23+ grams per serving.
Molinin302+2, wife ran into trouble with this when she was with her first husband. Thought she was doing the right thing with a diet of mostly fruit and veggies, she got close to diabetic levels. Had to eat peanut butter before Dr visits so the tests would come back within range. I don't recommend this.
My wife loves fruit too, she had to slowly wean herself off of it, was gaining weight rapidly and shes a vegetarian.
This is why I cap it relative to my total carb intake, but what do you think about doing that?
Molinin302I'm not knowledgeable enough to give diet advice at that level Zal, I'm sorry. My education helps in reading bloods and recognizing issues with organ function and lipid values. I'm the wrong guy to get diet advice from. I stay in my lane lol. Had my step daughter last week and she wanted McDonald's, we obliged. I ate 4 big macs. I am not the diet advice guy.
Noooo!!! Did you eat the fries lol
Molinin302Lol, maybe...
AnonHell yeah you did!
Well I appreciate your honesty of knowledge
2 bananas a day, one for breakfast and one preworkout
Bananas have 14 grams of sugar (118 grams) so a medium sized one. Be careful if you're doing macros.
It depends on the time of year. If I’m cutting the most likely not, but bulking I see it as fine. The enzyme that breaks down fructose is limited so I try to avoid going over a total of 40 grams of carbohydrates in it for a given day. When I’m bulking I tend to range from 500g of carbs on the low end to as high as 700g of carbs on high end, so 40g isn’t the major concern. That being said I utilize Berberine and chromium picolate for meals to help with blood sugar control. I also utilized some Metformin this past offseason when I was really pushing it and I honestly had great results in terms of controlling blood sugars
Did you try oatmeal?? 130 grams of it, microwave it with water, add 2 spoon of peanut butter and enjoy... That's my breakfast + the eggs...
Walmart cereal bars. With the fruit in them. 22 grams a bar and easy to eat.
AnonHow much is sugar?
12 grams
72 grams carbs at 37 sugar for poptarts smores flavor
Hey bill how much fat in 1bar
It says 3 grams. I buy these in bulk it helps me eat.
They sound great i will check them out also. Thanks
Hey zalewski with all these carbs do you use a product like upsorb from nutra bio
I use Berberine typically or matador by project AD. I use to use Metformin while bulking but I’m not needing that man carbs atm. Tbh it depends on my fasting blood sugars in the morning
AnonNever underestimate the power of a donut.
Whether it be pre carb or post recovery, better to be sloppy here and there than miss numbers or 'waste work.'
Easy, available and cheap...in a pinch.
Always have an out pitch in all parts of your life.
;)
Ah the cocaine of the donuts
Anon8 choc covered donut holes and one whole milk is my out pitch. Not a dozen, not a bag...8. The guy has them waiting for me when he sees me. LOL

Maybe mix honey with oatmeal and you can get enough carbs? The oatmeal might slow the honey down enough and you might still be able to get enough in your stomach. I like to add pb2 to my oatmeal but it might taste weird with honey or maybe good. I’ll try it like that.
Molinin302I'll get the flavored packs and mix it in with yogurt, have to let it sit for a few minutes to soften up though.
I’ve stirred my Greek flavored yogurt in with my cooked oatmeal. It’s not bad at all. At my 10 am break I’ll cook oatmeal and put in 4tablespoons of pbfit making the oatmeal runny because the powder will dry it up. Then I throw in frozen blueberries in to cool it down so I can hurry up and eat it before break is over. I throw a lot in, so I usually have to heat it up a little bit more. It tastes pretty good for no additional sugar except what the blueberries have. Probably at least 18 grams of protein too. I’ll have a glass of 1% high protein organic milk, about 18 more grams. And then I’ll slam a 35 gram protein shake when I’m done so it doesn’t ruin my appetite for the oatmeal.
Bud peanut butter with Honey is one of my favourites on toast! I buy it premixed in a jar - Crunchy Peanut butter and honey.
My dad and I like it crunchy too. I like to drench it in honey. It runs all over the plate and then I just keep swirling around the muffin in it like you do with the yoke of a fried egg.
Oh fuck yeah. I like it even better on an English muffin. You sure I’m not your dad? Just fucking with you lol:). I didn’t think about that. He could try that. I’m pretty sure English muffins have like 45 grams of carbs by themselves and at least 5 grams protein.
Yeah English Muffins rock with a tonne of butter on them - Crumpets with Marmite and Butter also.
Hot Cross buns, Cinnamon buns Lmao
AnonEnglish muffins with butter are a favorite of mine. Hard to beat a couple of those with some bacon or sausage on the side.. Fuck. Glass of milk too, cold because that's how it's supposed to be..
Ive been eating the anabolic french toast WITH EGG whites for almost 3 month straight so EASY
It not cheap but still favorite pre workout meal is cream of rice for me
is anabolic french toast a recipe, or is it something you can buy?
The recipe
1 cup egg whites, teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 packet splenda
And add cinnamon whisk it up then And dip whatever bread of your choice. You can add blueberries or dark chocolate is what i use on mine.. then weldon farms syrup 0 calorie syrup
Ok I looked it up and a lot showed added protein powder. I kind of do it like you with a carton of egg whites but I’ll add about 5 whole eggs and make 8 pieces for me and my kid and turn the rest into scrambled eggs with onion and green peppers and a little cheese and mushrooms in my half
That’s what I eat currently for pre workout actually. Around 80g pre workout atm
What about cereal post workout with almond milk and scoop of protein powder
I will try that sometime
For me its quick and easy after workout
Then on to a real meal afteward. But you know you have to look for one with rice as first ingredient
Keep me posted id love to hear what you try and like. Cause im always wanting to be my best and listening and learning from others have helped me tremendously thankyou
Homemade mashed white potatoes - Best carbs for lifting there is.
Let me know if I'm off.. Wldnt glucose and fructose be best pre and intra workout, then just a whole food starch glucose for post to aid muscle glycogen... I seem to always add fruit or syrups to my post, but have been told to let my body spike its own natural sensitivity of receptors.. what's ur thoughts?
Heloooo44Sweet potatoes. Their not the cheapest one but you can do alot of different things with them, my favorite is sweet potatoe fries.
Yeah but I’d have to eat 17oz of them, which is a fair amount
AnonStraight up maple syrup bro. Two shots, 100g carbs. Maybe half a coke? 73 marshmallows?
2 cups of hot chocolate.. With the marshmallows.. Fuck yes.
Lol a bit more filling carbs is the aim
