+ 2 Have you pushed you?

ad

Lets be real, have you pushed yourself too the limit this quarter? This month?, This week?? Today???

Makwa's picture

I like to go by the 90/10 rule. I try to push myself all the time but I know it is not realistic to able to go 100% all of the time so even though I try I know it is going to happen and as long as a I get a good workout in or stay on my diet 90% of the time then I will be going in the right direction and not feel bad about getting the deep fried fish and missing a friday workout when going out with the family for a Friday night fish fry.

Got a bum shoulder but still hit chest and tris for 1.5 hrs. Was able to get a sick pump too. Anything your mind can conceive you can achieve if you believe.

Does being sick on leg day count? Lol

Ask your Mom. She knows..........

Thumbs down for a classic "your mom" joke? Did not realize this was the "no fun" section while we were all "taking it to the limit", yeah.

My mom used to say..
"If you've got nothing nice to say, shut the fuck up!"

I have good days & bad days, but I give all I have to give on those specific days. Improvise, adapt & overcome

I’m pretty consistent. I try 100 percent every day but some days that might only be 70 percent of the previous day. Imo those are the days you get ahead. Most people woulnt do it. Most people woulnt carry food around or keep there gear ahead. Many of us on here do. It’s a sickness really. You almost have to have a screw loose to be a bodybuilder but I love it.

I’ve been pushing my legs to the breaking point. Muscle spasms and cramping for 1-3 days post workout. Finally seeing some real definition and a big change in the teardrop. This community pushes me harder

Been pushing myself hard on nutrition, in terms of learning/research, tweaking, and eating well every 3 hours, as well as separating my macros accordingly, i.e. protein/carbs and protein/fat, but not carbs/fats, and only eating high glycemic carbs post workout.

Workout is linear progression, so constantly pushing to lift a little heavier every session without injury. Also moved to AM and PM sessions, though have dropped from 5 days a week down to 4.

All of the above is recent changes, so been alot of pushing for me lately though I'm sure this is just the norm for most of you, and my hats off to you for it, it's not easy and takes a level of discipline I think most people wouldn't even consider mustering.

I hear you it just takes too damn long to heal once you get injured when you're over 30

I would say 33 was probably my peak athletic year. Forty’s were good but mostly brought more responsibilities. I’m stronger in my 50s than I was in my 30s. I’m also smarter so when I feel an injury comeing on I switch it up. If you don’t quit and let yourself go it’s not as bad as people say. Google Dave Draper he’s 75 and still big lean and strong.

Hell no. That would be idiotic. No injuries yet and I never plan on having any. The only time I would ever push myself to my absolute limit is in a meet with a trophy and a cash prize on the line. I’m over trying to stroke my ego with weights.

Sam I Am's picture

That’s wise . I think age makes most guys smarter. Sometimes just takeing 5 and thinking things through is the best option. I was way to spontaneous when I was in my 20s.

I think training exclusively at home is the best decision I ever made for my longevity. If I had yoga pants wearing hotties around me at all times when I lift I’d be typing this from a hospital bed.

Sam I Am's picture

My home training was a necessity. The local gym closed. I bought a good amount of the equipment. Then I was injured at work and started buying old Nautilus machines. Next thing you know I have a basement full of free weight and plateloaded machines. The garage had ten Nautilus machines and a few others. I love training at home. No worries about the flu or merca infections. When I die I feel sorry for whoever has to clear out my stuff.

I did, but not nearly as hard as I should have and could have.
