THERE IS HOPE

ad

I thought about posting this in "The recovery Lounge," but figured it might have a better chance of being read here. Awareness that AAS & alcohol abuse, drug abuse & depression can be deadly. I have a few good friends here at eroids & one who's even a pro (I like to remind him I've never known a PRO before Smile , ) but I don't most of you who are active here. I do know that there's a high percentage of us above 40 years old that have had some troubled times in our past! I'm sure many can look back & remember those times of alcoholism, drug abuse or depression & remember how hopeless it seemed, but we've made it & found THERE IS HOPE! I want whoever may read this today, this week or even years from now to know that no matter the hard times you're facing that THERE IS HOPE! Unfortunately, I've hit bottom more than once. I have been an alcoholic, severe drug addict & I've suffered times of deep dark depression & almost lost everything even my wife & kids. My sons are 23 & 18 & I've been very transparent with them about my past because I want them to know that no matter how far down you may fall & how hopeless it may seem, if you're breathing THERE IS HOPE! The mind is powerful enough to control our actions & reactions. That's how the Good Lord made us Smile The same power of our mind that influenced us to fall into negative patterns, is the very same power that can help us to fully recover. Surround yourself with positive people. You are the company that you keep. If you read this & find yourself in what seems like a helpless situation, reach out to someone for help!! I'm always here if someone needs me & I'm sure that others can chime in & say that they'd be more than willing to help. I have reiterated to my sons their entire lives that a man/woman is not measured by how many times they fall, but rather how many times they get back up. If you're still breathing, THERE IS HOPE!!!

Accepted.... anytime brother that’s what we are here for!!

I preach this constantly because I’ve been to the bottom & picked myself back up. I have been talking to several this week who were drinking too much and/or trapped in opioid addiction & they all say, “There’s no hope!” There is hope for every circumstance my friends!!!

I am very greatful for this and the recovery related forums you have posted. You have no idea how much it helps to know they are on here. I too am a severe drug addict and alcoholic who has also lost his family because of this disease. Two little girls (one @16 months and the other still in the womb at 2nd trimester) and the sweetest woman a man could ever wish for. Thankfully through hard work with other alcoholics, addicts, and my higher power, I was able to regain some sort of sanity and get my family back. So in response to your topic, there is most definitely hope. Thank you brother.

Man you’re 100% right Bro Rusty!! You’re one of them! I’ve fallen down more times than I’d like to talk about during my life, but I’ve resolved to always get back up. There’s encouragers like yourself that helps make that possible!!

Hey Jarhead, THANK YOU for writing this post. Your words mean a lot to me, and I'm certain it'll resonate with a lot of men (and even women) who are feeling lost. As they stumble upon this thread, it's my dream that this post will spark the internal hope for something better inside of the person reading who might be feeling hopeless.

Sometimes that's all it takes. A spark.

JARHEAD2's picture

Thank you my friend!! You’re encouragement is very much appreciate!! I’ve learned that for those of us that have been there & overcome can indeed reach others who feel helpless & without hope. It’s worth to help save even one!!
Thank you for your contributions as well & keep encouraging!!

Great reminder of the power of positive thinking.

Every day is a new day and the only way to live is one foot forward.
In the game where masculinity and macho-ness can rule the day , the hardest thing to do sometimes is to say " Please Help me ".
We are all here for each other. That is why communities exist.

Good Luck

Family is a great blessing not to be taken for granted!! I have no doubt that you will pass those values on & I commend you for that commitment

I dont know about anywhere else but in my neck of the woods this is recovery month. Because of my past and the good I feel it does I go in and speak to the new clients at our local methadone clinic and I pass along this same message. At times shit looks very bleak. No hope, no way to a better life. But there is. It is not easy . Like anything good in life it must be worked for. But it is so worth it. And your right. A post like this may reach that one person who just needs someone to talk to. Sometimes thats all a person struggling needs. I know it helped me. To know you're not alone and others have battled the same shit. Anyway, I can rattle on but wont. Tharnks for the post brother.

That's so true my friend!!! I felt I had went to far to be helped, once I took that step I found there's almost as many in or seeking recovery as there are on the steets. Thanks for giving back man!! It's well worth it! I do the same thing & volunteer at a recovering home. I'm currently in the process of finding a building to open another clinic that will house addicts.
Again, thanks for the selfless contribution back to the community!!!

Jayzgainz's picture

Thats awesome! We need more homes here for people to actually recover once they detox. Were a small city with a massive problem that our city government doesnt seem to want to address. So people like you and I have to give back for everyone still struggling because I know they feel alone. So many people wont ask for help because of the stigma.
And what you say is so true about feeling like you're beyond help. I had resigned myself to think that was how my life had to be. That I had to take my shit like a medication to make it thru the day and that was just how I had to live life.

We spend so much time and money on strengthening and refining our outer shell yet we neglect to strengthen the mind. We all have the power to change the life we live we just have to realize it and make it happen. Irishmack said it in so many words. Don't underestimate yourself it won't be easy it doesn't happen with a flip of a switch but stick with it and you can accomplish anything with hard work and a positive mind!

Life is either Heaven or Hell; its whatever you make it.

Right on. Misery is optional. Whenever possible, I chose happiness.

There is hope. For sure. Although when i dont stay in the day or even the moment sometimes i dont feel like it. I relapsed after 9 yrs clean and put myself back on the streets to the point of losing everything. The last 4 yrs have been trying to get and stay clean again. I just went through a tc program with 95 dudes for 90 days and it was hell and at points thought i would leave or get into a fight but i made it. Now im at home with my girl trying to look for work, make meetings, walk off probation, and hit the gym. She just lost her job and its been rough. Using anything to alter my mind will not help. Im not a good dude when i roll like that. Very selfish and dont care who i hurt but most of all killing myself. There is hope when we stop blaming others. Take a look at ourselves and make changes.

Greener pastures are not far ahead my man. Keep keeping on!

Masscheese638's picture

Hang in there house. U have glorious times ahead of u. I've got 7 years clean myself and 7 locked up. Hit those meetings bro. Stay positive and the world is yours. Before u know it you'll have another 9 years clean and all the crap will be a distant memory. Not forgotten though

JARHEAD2's picture

I'm glad to see you've found yourself man & accepted responsibility.... just keep holding yourself accountable! Sorry to hear about such a hard time, but this to will pass my friend if you just keep pushing! Take all that frustration out in the gym or find a ring or mat to hit & roll on... Keep your mind & body healthy & you will thank yourself later.
Thanks for sharing & I wish you the best of luck my friend!!

Truth!

DragonDog's picture

True, many of the regulars are older and possess some rather unique and potentially destructive demons. I wouldn't want it any other way. Trust in the instincts. They will guide the way to strength and happiness.

Why would you even write this? No shit its a steroid review site but there is so much else here too. If you dont like a post, dont read it or comment. Its not a mandate you read everything here.

What we have here is a steroid review site, but it's also a place to help one another out. You have an ample opportunity to help & guide others to make decisions to better their future whither it's aas, cycles, or whatever questions they might have. I'd rather spend my time trying to help others than putting down the efforts of those who are trying to make a difference. AAS & alcohol abuse, drug abuse & depression is a serous matter & I know of a few who have lost their life over the past year due to these circumstances & if I can help save a life even on a steroid review site, I believe it's worth the efforts.
