just spent week in hospital....thought I was done

ad

A week and a half ago (Thursday) I felt crappy after lunch. Thought it was something I ate. Like a dumbass I went to gym after work to hit legs. By midnight a fever started. I thought I was getting flu. I kept battling fever with the usuals but could keep it down, also developed gut pain.

By Sunday I was burning up and in severe pain. Went to urgent care who then sent me to ER. Turns out I got diverticulitis. Never had it before, didn't know much about it. I can't describe the pain in my abdomen, I literally prayed to die.

They battled it with IV antibiotics, but wasn't making much progress. Thursday they decided to cut me open. Had surgery to drain abscess on colon and installed drain tube in belly. I had no food for five days prior, just ice chips.

Just go released today, and I'm on antibiotics two more weeks. Sick as a dog and dropped 20lbs. Dr said "it just happens."

Thanks for all the positive replies. Final damage...weighed in at 220, weighed me before second surgery and I was 186. I don't even recognize myself in the mirror. They cut out about 8" of my colon and my appendix.

Three weeks in hospital sucking on ice. Worst part is you can't just get out and start eating like a pig and lifting. Can't lift until my abdomen wall heals, and full and sick feeling after a few bites of food.

Yikes! Best of luck in your recovery.
Please be patient with your recovery. It's not ever worth it to rush things.

Thanks for all the replies. It obviously messed me up physically, but really messed me up mentally. Only one Dr out of several asked about steroids...he was a dick about it, and I'm not on regardless,so I asked "like what?" And he changed the subject....

Nothing more valuable than your health and your freedom. One is no good without the other.

Bro I had my spleen removed a while ago was cut open and was there for 5 days as well dropped 30 pounds cause of only ice chips lol. I know your healing pain worst part was peeing in that jug and trying to squeeze a fart out after abs being cut open they wanted me to stay longer but I made sure I got up farted walked around and went pee so they could release me they also only gave me enough pain killers for 2 days after I went home so I took half the dose to get 4 days out of it anyways good luck on recovery brother I was only out for 8 weeks not sure how long your out for

Honestly don't know much about those either, but certainly tough way to make gains.
