Anyone believe or use pre workouts?

ad

Been looking a lot at pre workouts vs making my own, they are expensive and rather focus my money on real food. I can buy another tub of protein the same as a pre workout...so do you find them useful or what?

I like c4 , you get pinz and needles but good amount of energy

Im on GH so I have no need for powders to give me a pump. If I get too pumped I cramp up and can't train. I do like JYM pre and post powders though. the pre workout isn't overpowering or too strong. it has just the right amount of kick. I workout later at night so I dont want to be wired until 3 AM.

Make your own it's cheaper.

I personally love to use them. Super pump 250 is my favorite its hard to find but it can be done. This is by far is the best for me the pump is unreal.

ashop's picture

The original Gaspari Super Pump 250? I know they have recently re-released it again.

Liftheavy's picture

Yeah I'm not sure if it's exactly the same formula as the original but I have used both now and I believe that it's just as good. Super pump max didn't do anything for me. I have found one downfall of the re released sp250 is that the powder clumps and becomes gummy great pumps with it still.

I've had great success with ON amino energy. No crazy stim overflow, just caffeine and BCAA's which I like

bringtherain's picture

The best preworkout I've ever used is mixing bcaas with an 8oz redbull. Tons of energy without feeling like I'm on meth. Ymmv though.

ashop's picture

There are some solid ones. I like APS MESOMORPH...strong stuff(DMAA). I also like the pre workouts that contain AMP CITRATE.

Ladyluck89's picture

Id prefer to use coffee and 100% fruit juice and a lot of motivation Smile
I tried pw but imo its a waist of money

No never.

srx5000's picture

Best off taking Caffeine tabs there cheap and effective.

I have been using Pre-Jym since it came out and I will never switch to any other pre. Atleast Jim is honest about his products, dose not underdose and no proprietary blends.

Mr hyde prosupps that's my favorite but I don't use pre workout when on cycle. Blood pressure can be a nasty bitch sometimes while running a bunch of stims only add to that

APS Mesomorph..... SERIOUS energy for hours and nice pumps.

ashop's picture

I like pre-workouts but found they leave me over stimulated sometimes for too long. Lately Ive just been drinking my regular 16 oz STRONG coffee on my way to the gym.

maximusuk's picture

i have used my pre(my protein) and im currently using once called decibel, i believe in them and i do feel the benefits but its like anything your body gets used to it so sometimes u need to take a break from them, but the benefits when its working are great, good pumps, proper focus even on days when u want to not be anywhere near a gym, reduced soreness in the muscles and energy

Macamax's picture

No-xplode is good.

SexWeightsProteinShakes's picture

i use pre jym and like it
good energy, focus and pump
but ya they're spendy

Panzer1488's picture

looking into Ronnie Colemans "Yeah Buddy" and "No stacked." if money spent id like it to someone who helped me get into this game of building muscle.
Expensive, but may try it out.

vhman's picture

I use them, but I never go over the recomended dose. They're still effective for me. I switch up brands every few months as well. I work out at night, so it helps.

Amino lift gives a nice kick and is dirt cheap. If I'm out I just usually use a scoop of monohydrate and a scoop of beta alanine (enough to make your face feel like it's falling off from the tingling) and some crystal light

I do like some ALCAR with a touch of arginine akg and citrulline, BCAA's. But my best preworkout was 200mg caffeine 12.5mg ephedrine and a baby aspirin. YEAH BUDDY!

Panzer1488's picture

This aspirin things seems to be pretty popular?
What dose should be used?
Also i heard aspirin gets in the way of protein synthesis and is dangerous for exercise?

Makwa's picture

Aspirin does affect protein synthesis. Check out these studies for further detail

The only time I take aspirin is when I am cutting and using it in an ECA stack. I am more concerned about fat loss than building new muscle during that time so it really doesn't matter to me then. No aspirin or NSAID's for me when bulking and trying to build muscle.

Panzer1488's picture

Good to know! Maybe ill just stick to coffee, beta alanine and creatine!

konig's picture

There it is, +1 and good to see you! And yes, I only use baby aspirin if I am using bronkaid(ephedrine) in my stack or pre bed to help me rest, but this is very low doses.

Makwa's picture

Baby aspirin for me too.

You can buy a pack of 10+ samples of different brands of pre work out on eBay and try them yourself.

They're fun but let's be honest gluging down some coffee and watching 5 minutes of lesbian porn would fire you up just the same ready for the weights.

Faz's picture

I use 5gs of creatine pre workout, then bcaa's intraworkout.
I agree with what people have said, they are a waste of money, just marketed very well. A strong coffee will do the same.

gqelite's picture

there are some amino acid drinks that have caffeine in them. I go for those.

tonytulo's picture

I use pre workouts I don't depend on them tho. With my type of work its a much needed pick me up before the gym.

Makwa's picture

Off cycle I use them all the time. Not so much when on cycle. On cycle if I need a little boost I'll usually down a can of sugar free red bull or something like that. Don't need all the creatine, NO boosters etc when on cycle.

Panzer1488's picture

Yeah i figured while on, you have all the "boost" you need!

Pericu's picture

What do you define as preworkout?
Seems like you're more talking about protein

Panzer1488's picture

Or even thought about for pre is this:
-1 scoop whey with 5g creatine, 2g beta alanine
-8oz black coffee

then after workout, 5g creatine and grape juice and another whey shake.

Once im home a nice big meal

Pericu's picture

Ok! Got it.

I mix my own blend as well. Pretty cheap;

  • 3-5 gr. Creatine
  • 5gr. Beta alanine
  • bcaa (because I train really early in the morning)
  • 200mg caffein

More is not needed. Pre mixed are a waste in my opinion. Just lots of caffein with beta alanine to give you "the feel"...its just the excess beta alanine which causes a tingling Smile

Panzer1488's picture

Not, pre-designed pre workouts like no-xplode, etc..
I was saying are they really worth it? because the cost of 1 pre workout I can use that $ for another tub of protein, and have extra protein and oats vs spending on a energy pump product.

or looking just going old school, using only whey, casien and creatine only. Rest with whole foods.
maybe some beta alanine with coffee befoe gym but other than that....

flacidego's picture

Coffee is king!
