laid off after 14 years
Well....shit...we lift and engage in a strength based passion...we become invincible to the demands of everyday stress, we suck it up and never faulter! Our dedication and drive to better our bodies is relentless which trickles down to our work ethic! We end up becoming natures beast of relentless pursuit! Our reliability is our granite surface! Our commitment and loyalty second to none! Then....
It all happens so fast...yet in slow motion. Just like Kobe explained...you try and pin point wtf is going on as it happens. You are no longer the rock!...that the household depends on. You are disposed of...loved ones view of you hasn't changed but you feel downright castrated! Yes my brothers....
Laid the fk off! I am venting to you as I have a stature to uphold within my home! But Jesus...I literally have never felt this naked!....I typed naked so yea, Im in a wierd place! Collecting unemployment is a slap in the testes that are already hung out to dry...I am fkn panicking on the inside. Why do I disclose this info on an AAS website? Fk I don't know...because you are solid guys that share the same passion and hardcore mentality.
This is a bitch, my routine is that of 14 fkn years, waking up at a specific time, eating at specific times, lifting at specific times etc....now I have no fkn structure...I lifted today at 11:30am...which is un-natural for me. Needless to say the worst session in recent memory.......I paused then added more dots...fk it...thanks for letting me vent...knuckles my brothers and sisters

Divorces ect ect! You might be amazed... This is a time your at the crossroads my friend! Something will come along better keep your head up and strive on! Don't beat yourself up neither! I will pray for you buddy!
BERNIE 2016!
I got laid off last year and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Wasnt workin out there and I was unemployed 3 months and it was misery and its alot to deal with inside your head but now I make more money and love my job at a better firm and I have never been more happy and satisfied with the work I do, its so fulfilling. Good luck time is all it takes.
If you decide to join another company, I am sure most will be happy to have you knowing you're willing to serve them for so many years, you can pick and choose the ones which suit you best!
I know you got stuck in a comfort zone after such a long time, but what's best now is to forget what happened and focus on what you can do at this point onwards.
Otherwise, you could take your learned expertise and set-up your own business! Then, only you have the authority to lay yourself off, no one else!
Stay strong brother, I'm sure you'll be fine.
I think most of have been where you have ...well, I don't exactly have the castrated feeling but, I have been laid off.... (damn Goth for firing me from kq) .... if you are a fighter (and you are) you'll find your path .. this one is done and now it is time to move on to better things ... character isn't what you display when things are going well, true character is what you show when you are down and out .... I m no psychic, Mr. Bolt but I do believe you will be fine .... and if you still need ice cream I ve got plenty on the si page ;-)
Best of luck mate, may not mean much but my thoughts are with you.
Don't sweat it big dog. Other guys I might be worried about but you seem like the type of guy to bounce back better than ever.
Keep your head up bro. The real loser in this situation is your former employer. They lost a dedicated worker. Look in the same industry for your the competition. Stick it to your former employer. Knucles big guy
Been there. Always be prepared for the worst. Not to the point of building a bomb shelter in the back yard. I know I can't take anything in life for granted and that includes steady income. That why I have my trusty "break glass in case of emergency" PCT kit so I'm prepared to go natty if it means saving my family.
As for routines? Learn to be flexible and try to debunk what "experts" tell you what you need to do eg. Drink your shake as soon as you wake up and before you go to bed, eat every 2 hours - on the hour. Less anal bullcrap we have in our lives, the better prepared we are for stuff that matters, such as a real family emergency!
I got kicked in the nuts by my employer in sept. 2014. They replaced me with someone for far less. Not to be discouraging, but I never did bounce back and get a job in my field. The job situation still blows for most industries. I finally looked outside the box and took a job working maintenance. It is what it is, and at least I got some money coming in until I land on my feet again. Good luck bro, don't be ashamed to do a job beneath you in the meantime.
Sorry to hear bro ....im sure youll find something better
keep your head up
Bummer man. Something bigger and better will come along I'm sure. Try to stay positive. I'm glad there is unemployment for people like yourself. I know that it was hard on you to swallow your pride and have to walk in that office. There are some people out there that feel it's owed to them, and take advantage of the system. You are a strong minded individual so I'm sure you'll make it through this.
Sorry to hear that bolt, but your employer just lost one hell of a valuable employee. Job loyalty is no longer something that exists, from both sides of the field. Employers will dump your ass to add a few points to their margins, and employees will jump ship faster than an arachnophobe seeing a tarantula.
Only one thing is true brother, if you have dedication to what you do, if you love it and excel at it, you will ABSOLUTELY find someone who will appreciate your capabilities. Make your new routine follow your old one, only instead of working at your job, work on expanding your network!
Don't know if its the sort of thing your into but you should easily be able to get door / security work in the meantime of finding your usual type of work.
I'm sure you're last employer didn't pay you for the last 14 if you wasn't a solid member of staff. And I'm sure before you know it someone else will be more than happy to pay you for the next whatever amount of years too.
Continue doing what you have always done exept instead of going to work try to fill that missing part with more work..need it be employment or errands or helping someone or fixing jobs around the house in them hours..thats if you want to continue on in that routine..regardless all the best bolt!
It is a kick in the balls, but after you have had time to process the situation you need to stand back up and face your new challenges.
bigmurphDamn brother im going through something close my girl just got told that they are closing her office to consolidate. Its some bs so that some asshole somewhere can get a bigger bonus at the end of the year. So now we have to pack up and move north which sucks but luckily for me my company also has an office in that region so I can transfer. I feel for you brother its some bs you put in 14 yrs that alot of time thats almost retirement for some jobs. Did they close up shop like my wife's job or did they let you go after putting in a huge portion of your life was given to them either way. I hope you can find something fast and hopefully at the same rate maybe better i have always believed in things happen for a reason.
Good luck to you brother Keep your head up.
Sorry mate, but don't let it get to you. There's no such thing as a "job for life" anymore. No loyalty from employers, they'll bin anyone they have to to save a few £s/$s when tubes get tricky. Don't label yourself, this hasn't changed who you are or your worth to an employer, it's purely situational. Look at it as an opportunity to find something better rather than a set back. Those guys paid you a salary for 14 years for being a valuable asset. You'll be a valuable asset to another firm.
Big Brother Bolt, I am truly sorry for your misfortunes in life. I sympathize with you, truly, I do. I was laid off on Feb 29th off all days. Even though you feel "naked" and I use that term sparingly, you are not without, you have all of us here to listen to your rants of somewhat meaningless disgust and releef. I am sure that you are more than qualified for many positions to be able to once again retain that "Man Status" in your household. So my brother, in closing, keep your head up, eyes forward, and know that you will survive.
