I've been noticing a trend where I live... Hot in shape girls with scrawny dudes. Usually the girl is hot and in yoga pants, and the guy is skinny, skinny jeans, beard, and flat billed hat.
Last night at the grocery store, I see a girl I've seen before at the gym. Low and behold, a dude comes around the corner in his little outfit...tiny tshirt, flip flops, beard, flat billed hat. He looks at me, gives me dirty look, and pulls her close. Then she rubs his back and they walk away all giddy.
Is this world wide? Or just where I live? I just think its odd a woman would put time and effort into the gym, then date a guy that cannot do a pull up.

Lol, all women aren't in to skinny dudes with beards. Nor are they all in to meat heads, or dad bod guys, or tall or short guys. Variety is the spice of life.

A few things to bring up. Chicks dig artsy guys. If youre fit and artsy you have a leg up on most the "scene." Let's be real "we" gym rats have a bad rap. Some say we are one trick ponies.. All we know is how to train and take steroids. They don't know the research and the dedication it takes to grow chiseled physiques. They don't realize we have a better understanding of the way bodies operate, quite possibly more so than drs.
I fall into a category of a fit artist type but at no means am I a "hipster." I'm covered in tattoos but you wouldn't know it if I'm in a suit or business attire. It's funny how I go into a "not approachable" stigma once I'm in shorts and a tee.
That being said, when we are all pumped up and such we are often intimidating. It radiates off us. You all know when your gear is flowing and you look good and feel good you give off that air of confidence.
Without going completely "in" on this subject, we also should look at the psychology of most woman. They want to be the center of attention. They want eyes on them. Not you or me. This has been a subject brought up by girls I've dated. They see how other women AND men look at us. Let's keep it real here. They feel threatened by that.
To fix this is easy. Be more approachable. Don't be a dick. And try not to be too arrogant. Humble wins the pie men! All day every day!

There is a hot fitness instructor at my gym. The boyfriend is probably 140lbs, chin strap beard, and snow hat hanging off the back of his head when it is 90 degrees outside. How?
I met my wife who is on a who other level than I am not just body wise. When I met her she was a bikini competitor and a damn good one, a ton of guys up her ass gawking over her etc etc. A college graduate , prominent family , good job , nice smile everything going for her. Dated a few skinny scrawny guys , chumps , some assholes, guys who strolled her around like she was a fucking pony or a pet.
I have nothing going for me. No family , a record where if I didn't change my life my next charge will put me away for a minimum of 20 years, look like a felon and a murder , no great job, no great back ground , yea I'm in decent shape , but I've been better. I treated her with respect, stood up and said enough to guys treating her like an item instead of an individual. Cared about what she wanted to do, what she wanted to be, let her talk and be herself.
Fast forward. We own our own home, 3 cars , 2 dogs one who's got one foot in the grave and the other on a banana Peel and an ankle biter, bunch of shit in the house. I don't care about much of it , or if I had it or not, but I do care if she's happy and would fight to the death to keep her safe. That's why she's with me. Not because of how I look.

I think it's somewhat similar to the "dad body" trend, where insecure girls purposefully choose guys that are run of the mill, and not much to look at. That leaves them to get all the attention, which makes them feel better about themselves.
