anemia blood test and testosterone

ad

What's up guys my doc has asked me to go for a blood test for anemia ..I'm currently 5 weeks in to a test only cycle ..will the test screw up my blood results for my anemia test? I'm not too sure how they test but I'm sure it has something to do with hemoglobin and redblood cell count which test can affect if I'm not wrong

Testosterone (external sources) will not effect your iron levels in a significant way. This I know because I got anemia while on a cycle and I still have it due to blood donations.

It's hard to get the levels back up

is hemoglobin an accurate tool to measure iron, or can you have high hemoglobin and low iron?

carl3553's picture

No hemoglobin is not a accurate tool that's for a fact! Because my doc just checked hemoglobin because he didn't know I was on cycle he put me down for A ok bit after having a direct iron and vitamin b12 test it shows both are way below normal levels...he's got me on vitamin b12 cycobolan or something I don't have the package here with me right now and oral iron supplements...

carl3553's picture

How do iron ivs work? Are they for the rest of your life or just a one time set then move on to oral and healthy eating?

carl3553's picture

Anyone know if there is a way of my doc testing without coming off cycle

CBBurrr's picture

unless he is checking hormones he wont see that you are on cycle. He might think you are cured.

What has caused your anemia?

carl3553's picture

Got my blood results my vit b12 and iron are way below normal..and the oddest thing my doctor tells me I'm in a flare and don't even know about it...I have mild colitis I go to the bathroom once a day and I have solid stools even in flares...doc says because I have such a small infection only in my rectum and large intestine my body should have no problem absorbing the vitamins oral as soon as the flares under control

carl3553's picture

Told my doctor I'm on cycle but swear he didn't understand me because I'm English and he's finish. ..I got bloods done for thyroid ,vitamin b12 ,blood augers, protein, iron, hemocrat, hrmoglobin

carl3553's picture

I'm on cycle I'm not gaining weight I feel tired all the time I'm going stupid..my memory is so bad and I don't even want to leave the house I just want to stay in bed all day....I've checked test levels and e2 levels all in check

carl3553's picture

Colitis...I was checked for it before but I was also then on cycle but all he checked was hemoglobin levels? And because they was ok he was happy..I'm going to tell him tomorrow I'm on a test cycle I think he will undrstand with my condition but I want to ask if there's another way of testing for anemia other than coming off cycle and waiting a huge number of weeks

do you live in the US? Are you sure you want to tell your doc your are on steroids?
Read this before you tell your doc. http://patientprivacyrights.org/basic-health-privacy-faqs/
If you feel like shit you should probably come off your cycle anyway.

Why dont you post up your mid cycle bloods for us to look at.
Has your colitis been flaring up on cycle, probably hard to absorb nutrients when your guts are all inflamed.

carl3553's picture

Nah I live in Scandinavia and I have private health care ...no problems as of yet with bowels I don't think we'll no blood in stool or excess of going to the toilet

CBBurrr's picture

what do you mean when you sat test and e2 are in check? what were your numbers? you shouldn't feel crappy on cycle you should feel like fricken superman.

carl3553's picture

I know that's what I don't understand...I'll post bloods up when I get home ..my test level was 137nmol ..can't remember what e2 was ..a little high but nothing crazy.il put bloods in a few hours

CBBurrr's picture

Anemia is low red count and your cycle will boost red count.
You are going to get blood results that are probably improved over your base line.
Deca was originally used to treat anemia.
Unless your anemia test includes a hormone panel your doc won't know you are on steroids. It will give you a false report on your anemia condition though.

Might want to think it through before you tell doc you are taking steroids.
Privacy policies are not what the used to be, your doc can easily share that kind of info with your insurer and many others

Yes you are correct your count is going to be high, along with your white cells. Best thing to do is let Doc know what's going on. If not you will get Scrips for stuff you do t need !! Also when the Doc sees your bloods they should already know just be honest.

Thanks ....pmob if I have a defiancy in vitamin b22 because of my colitis won't absorb it will a test cycle effect my results? He took bloods to measure vitamin b12 direct this time not by looking at hemoglobin

carl3553's picture

Thought so dude...I know there's a few ways of testing for anemia so hopefully I don't have to drop the cycle
