Test to help anxiety as levels are low.

ad

Any input on this would be great.

I suffer with really bad anxiety, sometimes even have troubles leaving my own home. The Dr has me on Klonopin, Valium and Celexa yet still no relief. I had my bloods checked for Testosterone about a year ago and they came back at 221. Another 6 months went by and I asked for them to be checked again, this time they were 227 and Estradiol was 54. Being in the UK they are not willing to help me with TRT.

Has anyone found Test actually helps anxiety as in confidence, more 'get up and go' or have people found Test has actually made their anxiety worse rather than better?

My only experience of AAS is back in the 90's when I used to do Dbol only for 8 weeks, before the internet etc so had no knowledge of PCT or running Test with Dbol, I would do 80mg Thai Anabol ED for 8 weeks then stop then wait a few weeks then do the same thing again......Maybe I have messed my natty levels up due to this?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

I used to suffer from very bad anxiety the week or two of pct when my test levels were extremely low- the time between the gear clearing my system and my natural test picking back up. I'm on trt now so I don't pct, but the correlation was there for me.

The most important sentence of the above paragraph is the last one though- the word correlation. Correlation does not equate to causation and considering that the anxiety would occur for the first week or two after I came off cycle means that there were many other variables that could have been causing or contributing to it. So don't take this as me saying that I definitely think your low test levels are causing 100% of your anxiety.

I just wanted to chime in and say that the only time I have ever had issues with anxiety happened to be when I had low test as well, so there may be something to that.

Edit: Also, if you do add or remove any meds or hormones, do it one at a time. Don't drop to meds at the same time or add test and drop a med at the same time. If you do and things get better/worse, you won't be able to pin point what caused the change

Good luck bro

i feel for you mate, i would advice trying running clomid cycle to put t levels back to normal. that should be long term solution. I know 2 people that used this therapy including my self and it does work. i find that levels stays higher then it was even after therapy

I would stop taking Valium if i was you i don't think its a good long term solution

Sounds like you have alot going on there that probably isn't going to fixed by taking additional test. I was diagnosed with low test and my symptoms were low libido, brain fog, and lack of energy. No anxiety issues. Those symptoms cleared up within about a month after trt therapy. I reallly think you need to see a specialist to deal with your issues and not a GP doc.

My Dr prescribed me 20mg Valium ED 8 years ago and then added 1mg Klonopin ED 5 years ago. He said taking 2 benzo's together would help me but it seems to be having the opposite effect. I have tried reducing the dose of Klon and it is just horrific. I was talking to a Man about a year ago who was on 2mg of Klon ED and he started taking Test E at 200mg a week, he said when he started taking Test he found it a lot easier to reduce Klon.

I assume this is your GP rather than a specialist? Personally I think that is an irresponsible treatment path he/she has followed and would largely be frowned upon by medics unless you were considerably more ill, (bipolar etc). I would discuss this, maybe even ask to see someone else. What's happening here is trying to neutralise the symptoms rather than looking at the real underlying problem. Two benzos should certainly keep you "quiet" from a GP perspective.

Indeed bud, this is my GP and can you believe he now wants to add a drug called Risperidone, meant to be stupidly strong and to be used with caution. What gets me is he has me on 2 benzo's and an SSRI......When I mentioned that Test may help my confidence he said how incredibly dangerous Test is and how it gives prostate cancer. I said how it could help with confidence as my natty levels are low, he said it would not help confidence and make me depressed and more anxious but I cant see this myself?

I did get this Pep' called Selank and did a shot earlier as read about it and it is meant to be great for anxiety..... From Wiki.....

Selank is a synthetic analogue of the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin; as such, it mimics many of its effects. It has been shown to modulate the expression of Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and affect the balance of T helper cell cytokines.[1] It has been shown to influence the concentration of monoamine neurotransmitters[2] and induce metabolism of serotonin.[3][4] Selank has also been found to rapidly elevate the expression of brain-derived neurotropic factor (BDNF) in the hippocampus of rats.[5]

In clinical trials, the drug has shown to provide a sustained nootropic and anxiolytic effect, which is useful for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).[1] Selank has an advantage over traditional anxiety treatments, such as benzodiazepines, as it has no sedating or cognitive side effects and no associated addiction or withdrawal syndrome. Selank also has very low toxicity with an overdose proving harmless even up to 500 times the effective dose.[citation needed]

As of 2010, the drug has completed stage III clinical trials in Russia and is currently waiting to be authorized for general use in that region.[citation needed] It is unknown if the drug will be marketed in the West or other world regions at this stage.

Mate - Your GP is a twat. I work in drug design for a large pharmaceutical firm, I have a PhD in molecular biology from Cambridge university and I'm utterly appalled to see a guy like you being treated this way. If you had psychosis, severe bipolar disorder it COULD be deemed acceptable. That's why I asked the nosey question earlier, I was expecting to hear you had a history of manic episodes etc. Risperidone is a bipolar / schizophrenia treatment FYI. It's an antipsychotic in its simplest terms. Unless a specialist tells you that you have severe bipolar or psychosis, tell your GP to shove it.

I'll have a look at the MRC data on Selank for you when I'm back in the office early next week. If I find anything of interest, I'll let you know ok?

Thank you greatly mate.

Indeed I am just a very anxious chap, 40 years of age with a girlfriend and a 16yr old daughter. Anxiety is limiting my life and I really want to be able to do things before my daughter leaves home then I would have missed out on so many years.
I suppose I am clutching at all straws here in trying to find some kind of treatment that will help me get better, and from what I remember of the 90's when on Dbol I felt like a King thus me thinking along the routes of maybe Test would help with confidence and in turn reduce anxiety?

Most kind of you for looking in to Selank for me. From what I have read there does not seem to be that much info on it. I know a bit about AAS but pretty much nothing on Peptides so Selank being a Pep' is all new to me. From what I understand Peptides seem to be safe to use.

That's exactly what I was worried about.

Amazing and helpful replies, so glad I joined here.

I have had anxiety for about 20 years, started at school where I used to feel dizzy and was scared I would faint and make myself look stupid or loose control and end up in hospital. To this day I have never fainted! My confidence is low, maybe because I avoid situations as am so scared of having a panic attack. I have not been to the gym for nearly a year as I cant travel there as it is out of my comfort zone. The Benzo's when first prescribed worked wonders but then the effects of them soon wore off. I read the other week that Klonopin can have a fantastic effect at first to which it did but then it can turn on you making you more anxious than you were in the first place. I suppose to be very honest I am looking to use Testosterone to boost my confidence so I can try and get on and do things like go to the gym. I have just started today using a Peptide called 'Selank' as that is meant to help anxiety, did my first shot a few hours ago......I feel really stuck guys as I panic if say I drive more than 10 miles from home, I cant go in to shops, cant walk my dog very far as need to be close to home.....Really is a horrid situation. The Dr wants to try me on a drug called Rispirdone, in low doses it is meant to calm anxious people down but the sides effects are huge.....Massive weight gain, tiredness, slurred speech etc etc.

i know exactly how you are feeling, i have been there, are you in fear of being harmed? is that the problem? you feel as if you will be attacked or killed if you go out in public?

Interesting question.

You're taking a lot of medication that can have drastic mood altering side effects. Add fluctuating hormones to the mix and that may not go so well. This is something I would tread VERY carefully with and definitely make sure it is monitored professionally.

mate, i feel for you, i have had a really bad friendship with mental illness in the past, first off, stop taking valium, that isnt going to boost your confidence, rather it will mellow you out and help you sleep, the symptoms you describe are like gearhead stated below- agoraphobia, the only medications i know that will fix that are -zyprexa olonzapine and zoloft, it stops the paranoia, panic attacks and anxiety aswell as delusions and psychosis, let me ask you, do you have people who want to hurt you? people after you? because thats a huge factor, there is a big difference as to wether your actually mentally ill or you actually have a reason to fear for your safety? do you smoke weed? any other illicit drugs?.
testosterone will help with your confidence yes.

That's a pretty potent mix of benzodiazepines and SSRI's. The problem with a lot of these drugs is they can cause there same symptoms that they are prescribed to treat. For example, Klonopin was actually designed as anti seizure medication and like a lot of those types of drugs they have a huge potential side effect list, including things like anxiety.

Can I ask if there's a more complex health issue you've not mentioned? Understand it may not be something you wish to discuss here but I would deem it to be overkill for a doctor to prescribe you these three medications at the same time for anxiety. You probably feel like a zombie.

Trt would be your best route. Your t levels are making your existing anxiety worse. Trt would improve the quality of life. It's not going to make your anxiety go away but it would improve. I've been diagnosed with anxiety since 18 it sucks but i find taking meds make me worse. They had me on several cocktails and it's a bitch to come off when you realize it's making you a different person.

Bro, Testosterone is not a treatment for agoraphobia, unfortunately not is it used today as a psychiatric med to treat depression either.

Regardless of who caused it and how, you suffer from low T. I don't have any understanding of the UK medical system, but we have a member that does Catalyst and I would send a friend request (FR) to him and reach out to him in private mail (PM) once he accepts your FR and see what your options are for low T that is not low enough for the doctors to treat.

In the States here, we have rejuvenation clinics that will dispense Test and HGH like it is water if you pay the price. Don't know what options exist in the UK but Cat does.

Are you actually training now or just want to use test for your anxiety?
