For me its anyone who doesn't practice the art of self reliance. Example: theres a guy at the gym we call him "ken" (ken doll) he is as pretty as they come and is actually in phenomenal shape. A couple weeks ago he walked out the gym about 15mins before me. When I walk out to leave he's standing by his car with a flat, so I walk over and ask if he needs a hand. He replies nope my dad is on the way! So I said man call him back ill help you, I dont wanna get dirty he said...lol......stuff like this merits an instant yank of a man card and should be banned from ever having one again or like noid said "should have never recieved one" ps. Ken is around my age late 20's to early 30's

as far as my own gal. she noticed the other day i seem to block her off from anything or anyone that may cause her harm. i wasnt sure what she meant so she started pointing it out to me. someone getting to close waving something in the air, i put myself between her and the possible harm. some shady looking mofo, i make it known i will protect my women.

forgive me if this was thrown out there, only went back a page. two guys at my gym come to mind rather quickly. first one is the guy wearing skin tight nylon yoga pants. I mean c'mon his junk is outlined for the whole world to see. the other is his twin the older bb guy wearing the 80's spandex shorts. I can't speak for the lady's, on behalf of us uber men we all would like to pull your man card, slap some common sense across your face and let it be known how ridicules you look. I guess they think why should all the ladies get the ass looks.
I'm old school IMHO men should open doors, order drinks, keep me warm and safe all that should just be automatic. Hold my hand to cross the street, put your hand on my lower back in a crowded place, plan things. Can I do it myself, yes but I don't wanna. And for most of it, its for all women not just your own. If you don't hold the door for a lady, fat, young, hot, or old your man card should spontaneously combust.

I think if you read through this whole thread you'll see that some of us are old school in that sense. I habitually open car doors, take her hand as she goes to sit, grab her when crossing the street. The other stuff comes naturally. Holding a door for a woman and some really soft dudes. I think that my generation is the last of the mohichans. These young guys are rude as hell. And "pussy", I have been called a pussy, bitch, girly man etc. It don't get much softer than me. AnonHmm I always treat women like that but I make eye contact with every guy in the room usually never have problems not with a shitty look just letting them know I see them…. but I'm aware of my surroundings always even if I'm alone I do the same thing. With a smile on my face that is. Some who look problematic I look at for a while before moving on I think the smile scares them or something.
I think chivalry is about dead in my generation, I always get the same "I don't know why you're with me" or "I'm scared you'll leave me for someone prettier" etc etc like my behavior is just so outlandish they don't understand how to react to it because I don't treat them like shit & actually have goals + don't do drugs smoke or drink ( rarely drink ). Plus I actually know a few things about the world which seems to always blow peoples minds…. Current girlfriend is getting more and more insecure since I'm on cycle & improving I don't know how the fk to prevent that, this ALWAYS happens if they last a few months. This one in particular has a lot going on for her + might be the most attractive girl I've ever been with so I don't understand why I'm still getting the same shit didn't think I would. Apparently doing something with your life besides drinking and smoking weed all day is just unbelievable in your low 20's now a days??? Come to think of it I don't know of a single one of my male childhood friends who does anything else so it must be.

AnonIt may be the age of the chicks as well. As I've gotten older, I've become so much more comfortable with myself and self-assured. Hell, I even LIKE who I am- If you are able to find a woman who likes who they are and knows their own value, they won't be relying on you and your presence to constantly build them up ("I don't know why you're with me" type bullshit) And will realize that if you don't want to be with them, there are other men out there that will value them more. And grrlll is right, you need to seek out different women. Break from the "type" you've been going after lately. Try something different.
Sadly there's nothing you can do to help someone's insecurity. It's all on them, I wish there was a magic pill for it. I think its something that runs deep,you have confidence or you don't I've always been sure of myself. Don't get me wrong I know I'm flawed, but my flaws do not bother me. I think most people's insecurities come from being unable to accept their flaws/issues. If a person doesn't totally love themselves it's hard to believe anyone could love them. KWIM?

I was kidding about being called a pussy. I guess you don't get the joke because you don't know what I look like. I have a very "threatening,..mad at the world, unapproachable" look. So I've been told my whole life. I've heard it referred to as "Serious or intense eyes" when I'm not even thinking in those terms. I don't know why my body language or facial expressions give that impression. I'm quiet , reserved ,..like water. I seek the path of least resistance. But I was being sarcastic in a joking way. Nobody calls me a pussy. When I started getting big I noticed an even sharper contrast in ppls demeanor around me. I mean blatant fear. I walk into a room in the summer with barely any clothes on and every guy in the room puts his head down avoiding eye contact while their women are batting their eyes at me. It's an empowering feeling but I got sick of it quick. It's just not me no matter how I look. So I try to lighten the mood. I'll give one of them the nod. Or smile and say "what's up my man" in a goofy tone. Just stop them from wetting their pants.

And yes, I know what you mean about just knowing w/o explanation. It's an aura or essence. You can't teach or learn it. It's what triggers some to run and others to stand and face the fire when fight or flight kicks in.
Knowing when to fight and when to walk away is a big part of it. I can't imagine being a guy I worry more about my boys than my daughter. My five year old got suspended for fighting a few weeks ago. He's got a short fuse. I put him in martial arts, we'll see if that lines him out.
Channeling it is the key. Discipline, control and confidence,..key elements to keeping a fuse long.The confidence may be the biggest factor. If you are sure of yourself and know what you are capable of, then nobody will strike fear or doubt in your heart. Most times aggression is due to fear. Sounds backward but its true. Martial arts is agreat idea. I used to be a live wire. A nightmare of a kid with a notoriously short fuse. Now a days i have a very long fuse, but there is a very BIG bomb at the other end..
Martial arts is a great way to channel it ... I quit training about two years ago and am really feeling the effects of not going .. ;-(
