Creatine and/or whey protein + nausea and diarrhea
ad
Has anyone ever experienced nausea and diarrhea associated with their supplements. I had nausea and diarrhea for about 3 weeks even for about a week after I stopped the supps and it would last and sometimes not even start for several hours after I used the supps. I went to the doctor and she said it was stress in my life but I never had the problems until AFTER I started using the supps. However, the supps were body fortress brand (wal mart brand) and sometimes I would drink them with somewhat of a powder still in them because my shaker is very small so I don't know. Just wondering if anyone else ever had the similar issues.

Poor quality protein can do this. I only use whey isolate personally.
Some pre workouts mess me up, if I drink a bunch of shakes in a day it will give me the craps as well. If it is the whey that's doing it to you then you might be slightly lactose intolerant. Maybe its just the processed nature of the powder as well. Have you tried many different brands? Maybe looking for a whey that comes with a digestive enzyme in it would benefit you.
Creating monohydrate will cause you to be nauseated sometimes especially when front loading
JasonC84Honestly, I don't think its the whey or the creatine. I believe it could be just like the doc said, stress in my life. Perhaps an ulcer. I really don't know for sure. I just don't see how creatine and/or whey protein could still cause the symptoms several days after I've quit taking it. I am fine now after over a week without it. I think I'm going to start back with it on monday and then I will know for sure. I just thought i'd see if anyone else had experienced anything similar. I will keep everyone posted as to what happens monday. Thank you for all of your help. I really appreciate it.
Maybe you are lactose intolerant.. remember whey is a milk derivative.. creatine can cause an upset stomach as well but I myself have never had a problem..
JasonC84I drink milk quite often and it never bothers me. Do you think I could still be lactose intolerant?
Not sure on that one.. my assistant at work is lactose intolerant and we gave him whey protein a few times and he was sick as a dog for about a day so it might be something to look into but if you drink milk often then it may be a bad batch of whey or maybe the creatine.. it really is an odd case lol
Creatine will give alot of people upset stomachs especially if taking to much
JasonC84Thanks bro, I have been taking about 5 grams pre workour and 5 grams post workout and most of the time i am swallowing a good bit of undissolved powder as well because my shaker is so small
Buy you a new one lol they are only a few bucks. Maybe try bumping the creatine down some? If your taking a preworkout as well most of them already have creatine in them
JasonC84I think i will get a new shaker. that could be the problem right there. I have been just mixing the body fortress creating with the body fortress whey for pre and post workout shakes. Someone recommended micronized creatine. I may try that as well. I'm just wondering how it could cause nausea and upset stomach for so long after I take it. I means days after I stopped I was still feeling awful at times.
JasonC84I put on 26 pounds of muscle in two years eating absolutely nothing but egg yolks and peanut butter. Veggies twice a week. Tons of water. I just started using supps on april 8th and I never had any of these issues before so I'm thinking it has to be the supps. However, I stopped using them and symptoms continued for a full week.
JasonC84I would eat a few slices of white bread post workout as well
JasonC84Thanks bro. Sometimes I will wake up nauseated the next morning and still have diarrhea. Do you know of anywhere in particular that has good deals on the protein?
Lots of places bro. Just do a search for bodybuilding supplements and explore there prices. Many have very comparable prices. I wont specify a specific in open forum but feel free to send a friend request and a PM.
Body fortress brand protein is torture to my digestive system and anyone around me suffers. I get horrible gas issues bro from it. Get online you can find just as inexpensive whey isolate blends that are more easily digestible.
Wife and I go through 2 tubs of the Body Fortress a week. No issues. It's all a matter if finding what works for you. For example, she loves this one type of Pure Protein bar and so do I but when I eat it, it gives me such a wicked insulin response that I practically go into a diabetic coma and I am not a diabetic.
