+ 1 Lifting saved my life! Serious!

ad

Hey! Well, I can honestly say, this... I missed training for 13yrs near on.. Stopped! ??

Then, I changed, I changed into a huge fat man, and my health suffered, a lot. my state of mind suffered, I saw bad in every juncture.. For years..

Then, I had a moment of what alcoholics call, a moment of clarity, and went to a gym, it's in my bio.. I was going to die, I know that, my body was packing in, mentally, I didn't care, my marriage was on the back burner, non consequence..

Training, lifting iron, and the brotherhood of that saved me. So, have you been saved in this way?

I had issues, a lot in here too have seen action, that may of been a part, may not, but that is to the excuse..

So?

I for sure can relate to this. Truthfully I wouldn't wanna go into the details of what lifting saved me from but lets just say it gave me a purpose, a goal. Without it I'd be miserable. A good day at gym means a good day at work in the morning.
can't go into much details im afraid, not yet ready for it I suppose, but It for sure saved my life.
I know exactly what you feel and say

Thank you for commenting, and whatever it was that galvanised you to iron, I hope it is now handled, and your life goes on from strength to strength as your physicality grows too..

Congrats' Brother

I can definitely relate brother. My Father passing away lit the fire under me almost 5 years ago. I had never trained previously, but I knew I did not like where I was and knew there was only one way to get to where I wanted to be. The commitment to this lifestyle was born. Onward and upward brother..

The transition in your pics says it all bro....great job!

I guess I can say training saved me too...started training 15 yrs ago after a separation from my wife, decided I needed something to occupy my mind and I always wanted to lift weights in some capacity. Best thing that ever happened to me, feel great, look great and have a girl now that trains with me, marrying her this October!

I was a little over weight back in the day too, gotta look through some albums and find a pic to post.

YEAH!!! You are marrying the girl you lift with? GREAT ending, or great beginning to a cool story mate! Get some image up of the change, people have asked me "why you letting people see pictures like that?" Well, I like to remind myself, and I know I am not the biggest fella on the planet, BUT, I am proud of my place now :-)

Well done fella, get your future wife on here too..

Happened to me to bro except mine was drugs and booze. I went down a bad path till a few times in jail I decided something had to change. I wouldn't have made them thru the hard times without something to put my passion in and iv been hooked every since been almost seven years don't do drugs and only drink maybe once a month like a six pack. Don't know how my life would of turned out without lifting it helped me thru dark times

Wow man! Congrats on sharing :-) Sometimes we need to hit rock bottom, to see how high we can bounce.

Well done, keep it up my man :-)

Went thru a long time of not caring bro and hating myself and once I started lifting seening a change in me mentally and physical I was hooked. I was bad I'd drive a 100 miles a night sometime totally wasted and I didn't care if I made it or wrecked and died. Once u hit bottom there's no way but up not proud of my life choices during those years but I can say lifting weights helped save me it Became my life and stopped all the partying choose not to hang with certain friends. Thanks for the encouraging words brother and If anyone reads this and says to themselves I can change for the better its all worth it

Powerful stuff brother. Powerful indeed. Making life choices is the difference them us that want, and them of us that don't care. Oddly enough, it's absolutely amazing the amount of us that were saved by our desire to train. Certain people gravitate towards one another, and the gym, has them certain type.... Congrat again mate.. God speed. And keep it up ;-)

Congratulations, this lifestyle we live has many benefits that are overshadowed by bad press. While I have not had an experience that pronounced, I can relate to the state of mind improvement when coming back to lifting after any significant off time. Glad to have you with us.

Thank you.. "lifestyle" is a good word.. Glad to be here, this has played a part ;-)
