+ 7 Summer 2013 EBC winners & PRIZE LIST
This was an all out war by so many!
I want to thank all of you that participated and finished and special thanks to those of you who gave enough to battle in the top 10!
You all made this one fun, there was a 4 way tie in the lower slots of the top 5 bouncing back and forth as each judges scores were added.
This was a very difficult contest given the different goals but at the end of the day each contestant was judged on his or her own achievment.
One very difficult component is trying not to punish a contestant who begins in great shape considering another contestant in poor shape has so much more room to change. Having said so I can assure a contestant such as Geno, they all get a very fair shot with the system we use. The system is somewhat complex in its ability to remove bias in a judge but still quite simple to use.
I want many of you to know, if you didn't make the top 5 so many were in it to the bitter end. Some of you literally 1point off and some bounced in and out of those slots as cards were counted...too the bitter end!
Lets do the dayum thang....

Congrats to all of the winners! All the hard work pays off.
tread-mCongrats to you as well. I told my pinkie I saw some of her in your work here, truly impressive keep it rockin too this is just the beginning!
this just made my day,,,,,,,,,,
tread-mBrother the real work shows up in you, you spend some time around the kitchen and you leave the house with tupperware and come back with a lot of empty tupperware at night. Very proud of everyone but you sorta did it for me here in a big way. In fact, the whole top 10 just inspired the hell out of me.
Thanks to all of you my diet got a lil bigger this week and my workouts intensified...true story very inspiring this group.
Speaking of which, is it possible to see the whole top 10?
tread-mI kinda like leabing f he mystery of it. 4 others were in the top 5 at one point or another which means we have some ties in the 6-10 slots as well and the next 5 as well were so close to making the top 5 that means the 11-15 slots were very close to the top 10 etc.....I like the mystery of it in parf because everyone knows how hard it is to make top 5 . I wanf people to recognize that list and whwn they compete I want them to compete to win not to make top 10. I don't even like people shooting top 10, I want everyone going for Gold....meaning top 5 is all we need to know.
AnonLmao so in short "No"? Ahahahaha
tread-mLol...yeah pretty much
thanks alot tread, means a lot coming from u, and yes a shit ton of tupperware a cabinet full, all sizes, most of times when im around i always carry a back pack with in at least 2-4 meals ready to go, sometimes ill be walking and eating with my bowl of jazminerice and cicken and people look at me like an alien, but hey i dont give a shit u got to do what u got a do, thanks also to bfg, carlos, and all competiotors in my eyes u are all balzy mofo..............
Darron614This mofo doesn't need anymore gear! Haha congrats bro!
thanks man, i need all the gear i can get
nice job everybody! this was a fun contest!
Congratulations to everyone who entered. Sticking it out takes true grit!
Hahhaha blood and guts thats whays it all about.....
To all the competitors a huge congratulations! Looking through the photos it is clear that everyone won towards improving their bodies. The discipline and confidence to enter the EBC is nothing short of impressive.
RustyhookerWinnah winnah chicken dinnah! Folks busted ass out there and got a whole new body. Gotta enjoy that!
Congrats to the winners! Blasted that extra mile!
Congrats to all. A lot of dedication and hard work.
AnonI didn't even place!? WTF TREAD and CARLOS BOOOOOO!!!
Congrats guys who completed it.. and the fact is, if you ever compete in a real bodybuilding show this EBC is about as close to fair as you're gonna get.. because in the real sport of bodybuilding its about who ya know, and who ya blow
angusCongratulations gentlemen, you fought a very hard battle against your worst critic......Yourself! For some of you the process has taught you more about yourselves than you have learned in a lifetime and that information is priceless. We look forward to seeing more of your accomplishments in the future.
Oh and don't forget the lady....Mrs. Don'tQuit, you showed up on the scene and took control. You are an inspiration to all, and the changes that you made were nothing short of spectacular. You must be very proud.
The rest of the finishers, I admire and respect your tenacity and perseverance. Some of you look like different people compared to when you started. Continue to take that passion to the gym and kitchen every day and you will be unstoppable. I had a 22 way tie for first place on my scorecard.
Never mind!
angusLMAO!
I'm with Noviceaas. It takes big brass balls to do this thing! Everyone who entered, competed and gave it their all should be proud of themselves. No matter where you placed it should be looked at as an accomplishment and a launching pad for the next phase of your fitness goals! I know the judges have a hell of a time trying to decide on placement. I don't envy them. Good job everyone! And congratulations! Tread man, you're a beast bro! I don't know how you handle all this shit.
tread-mI'm not good enough person to not surround myself with great people, true statement. I have you and many great friends here and in my real world...makes it easy for me to smell like a rose often rather than dog shit.
Love your thoughts on EBC though, these folks inspire the hell out of me and something about the color pink that brings out the best in me too!
AnonWhether you agree with the winners or not doesnt matter, the hard work to participate and hard work to run the show gets the majority of my thanks. Sure Id like to see my "horse" come in 1st and get additional recognition, but this is judging and not a race with a defined winner. Judging by human eye almost always leaves many people arguing over the outcome.
Congratulations to every participant, youve got guts ! Thanks to the guys that run the show, another great comp for the books !!
Give them a vote if you find it helpful.
PermalinkI 'm with waltr
tread-mSounds like a wonderful eveing. Can you tell us where you are or is it need to know basis full on bromance stuff?
our relationship is for facebook friends only.:)
and I know damn well you knew I was in agreement with him when he said he didnt agree with the judging.
appreciate your humor, but judging was off in my eyes.
I saw different things apparently
tread-mI'd like that comment but I don't have a damn facebook! :( lol
No brothed each EBC I explain to someone the reason some people feel like judging was off. Mostl y it ends up being not really understanding what the EBC is. Sorry for typos here new phone! Grrrr....
So the EBC has many thoughts built in and the first thought is that "end results" are only one small aspect of it. If end result was all that mattered we would not need before pics.
This means we look for so much more. Much of that is a contestants genetics. So lets take walters as the example. He has great genetics which means I expect great things vs with somone with poor genetics. So maybe you look at somone that scored higher than him in the EBC and think "walter did so much more than somone that beat him". On a simplicstic face of it you may be right......however, I may see an individual that gave a 1000% and feel bevause they had poor geneyics they actually achieeved more than walter who gave less than 100%. Now keep in mind these are metaphorical and not my real thoughts on walter. What a good judge will do in a contest like this one is this....take somone with great genetics and say "this person did well but they don't quite yet have all the knowledge to do what they could have done here. So maybe good judges that have been around the gym and compounds and trainers and gyms all their life do see what one geneti ally inclined individual accomplished. The thing is I may see much further than just seeing who this individual is. I see what they coukd have done in the same period of time. In other words I look for the opportunity you may have missed rather than the few you took advantage of.
Btw...the sckrinv system is complex and simple all in one and is designed to remove bias. I will use doing taxes as an example. On a scoring system of 0-3 for each category it would go like this...."did the contest achieve at all toward the goal of catevory 1? If the answer is yes eliminate the score of 0. Did the contestant achieve the maximum they coukd have in the time given for this category based on abilility (geneyucs etc)? If the answer is no eliminate the score of 3 for this category.
So that gives you a taste of scoring. Very precise and it is always made clear in judges conferences that the system is to be used line by line, category by category and not to let personal desires sway that protocol.
What would surprise you is to see a contestant master 3 categories and come up with zero in 2 others. That kills there chance of wimning when a couple othed conyestants put serious work in all aspects of the goals and just did pretty well in each. Even to have one zero score in a singke categry can hurt your overall in a terminal way. Think of a class you take. During the semester you have 4 tests. You get a 90 on 3 and a 0 on one. You fail while anothed student got an 80 on all 4 ts tests. You may well have been the better student in many ways but the other student will go further and achieve more just being more "well rounded". You had a single flaw and it was the one weak link that took you down. The othed student didn't have as many strong links as you but where fhey beat you is thsy had zero weak links...that's a win.
Now this of course has nothing to do wifh walter he just happened to be the start of fhis convo. I will say this. If yiu had asked me..."Tread if you could pick one of these contestants and train them in the kitchen and the gym and work with them to try and win
This EBC, which contestant would you choose ? It would have likely been walter. He has great genetics and this contest will help move him forward. Its the journey brother, not fhe destination we think of when we refect back. I hope walter is enjoying it because he has much to work with and a lot of fun ahead if he continuez to learn and capitalize on his gifts. I sspect he will.
waltrWhile I appreciate the kind words this was actually my second cycle ever (first was the puro-labs sustanon one I made a cycle log for and is under my profile) and while I did not actually stop and do a PCT after the first cycle (I stayed on 350mg of Sustanon) I would still consider it my second "cycle" per se.
Secondly, I have never been in a gym and lifted a weight prior to January of this year. I played soccer as a child and on into high school until I tore my right hamstring in 11th grade and then stopped.
Thank you for the vote of confidence though, something tells me you probably know a thing or two about this whole bodybuilding thing.
tread-mBrother there was that hint of inexperience showing up considering what you had and where gou took it. Not to say at all yiu didn't give 100%. Its just your 100% VS MY 100 WITH THAT body wold be a very different outcome. Now don't misinterpret that as a negative it tells me you are learning and believe these words " I am very impressed with what you did at your experience level". Tells me if yiu choose to keep coming there is a shit ton of pretty things coming your way.
Think of italian for a sec. In a sense this was unfair to you because his e periemce was so much greater. At the same time I can't punish him for coming in looking nice or having experience. He has earned his way. Also think if this....once you get to where he was coming in it is much harder to get to where he ended up vs where you started and ended up. You start hitting a lot more walls when you get to where he was when he started this ebc. Thats when the experience to kno k those walls down comes into play.
I'm waaaaay proud of you and I want all of this to motivate you and let me say something fhat took me 20 yrs to learn....when you look in that mirror everyday appreciate you now and donf think of fhe ultimate desfination. If you get too caught up in who you want to be you forget about just how good you are today...you look amazing brother and for your age and level in this I could not be more e cited for you.
Brother, I think the same way. I just wrote something similar to BigTurbo earlier today, but you certainly said it much better. That's a great philosophy in life: enjoy where you are now.
tread-mThanks D, I think I lost so many todays thinking abouf fomorrow I am always hopeful people realize fomorrow may never come . Thankful I have today and I have made the most of it ! Lol
Glad to know ofhers are thinking that way though seriously.
