+ 4 Importance of giving and receiving good advice.

ad

Hey guys. I've thought about doing this for quite some time, but have never got around to it and frankly I've been hesitant about some of the heat I may take. I just wanted to touch base a little on the importance of steering the uninformed in the right direction, and accepting and utilizing that advice if you're someone who needs it. First I'll give a little background about myself. I'm 32 years old, been lifting weights since I was a teenager, athletic all my life, and I'm a TRT patient. In high school, I played baseball, basketball, and football and was offered scholarships in all three. But baseball was my real passion and probably my best sport. I was a pitcher. I got drafted but elected (told by my parents) to go to college, and signed with a major college in the SEC. I was on top of the world until my first shoulder injury. I tore my rotator cuff when I was 19 and rehabbed the entire next season. When I was 21, I partially tore my labrum and ruptured a bursa sack. Surgery and rehab again. This time, my athletic trainer who was the epitome of physically condition suggested I run deca to aid in the recovery process. Told me all about the benefits it could have on my ligaments and tendons and how much quicker my rehab would be. Sounded good to me. I just wanted to be healthy and play again. I had previously ran a 10 week cycle of test, so had no issues with the idea of using steroids. He got the stuff from somewhere and started administering the shots for me. I stayed on deca throughout my rehab process which was around 6 months. Yeah. No test what so ever. Only deca. Probably around 500mg a week because he was giving me two shots a week. Did them in the bathroom of my schools training facilities. Looking back, I can't believe I allowed that to happen. I was a 21 year old adult. But I looked up to him and trusted him. Honestly, I feel he had my best interest at heart, just didn't have a clue what he was doing. To make this long winded story a little shorter, my shoulder recovered well and I was able to continue playing the sport I loved until I was 26. Two more injuries finally made me walk away, plus momma said it was time for a real job. Unfortunately, not only was I on deca for about 6 months the first time as I mentioned, but I also ran two more cycles of deca only between the ages of 22 and 25. I simply didn't have a clue what I was doing. After baseball ended, I basically did little physical activity, was pretty depressed that I couldn't do what I had done all my life. I went from excellent shape to a sloppy fat ass almost over night. I sustained a back injury and was going to the doctor about once a month for check ups. She noticed that I was gaining weight at an alarming weight between each visit and after picking my brain about a few things, had a full panel ran on me including my test levels. Results came back and I had very low test. All the deca had repressed my natural system really hard. They started me on TRT with shots of cyp a couple times a month. I started to notice a difference pretty quickly and ultimately, it turned my life around. I lost about. 80 pounds and got back involved with basketball and a men's softball league. I also went back to hitting the weights, which has become my new passion. My point of all this rambling is twofold. If youre someone with a moderate amount of knowledge of AAS, be sure you know WTF you're talking about before dishing out advice. Be careful what you say because it may be wrong and could seriously effect someone's future. My trainer thought he knew what he was doing but clearly did not. Secondly, if you're a young kid or just new to this world, take what these knowledgable vets say as gold. You do not want to go down the path I did and end up on replacement therapy your whole life. There's better ways to spend your time. Also, it's pretty damn embarrassing to be 23 or 24 years old and have a bad case of anorgasmia, or blow ghost loads every time you get off. Not good for the ego or self-esteem. Utilize the resources this site has to offer. If eroids were around back then, things may be different for me now. Hope someone is able to take something away from this. Thanks for your time friends :-)

man sorry to here that. that's one reason I'm so iffy about using deca. it would be my luck I would be the few that has all the sides.lol I think it's sad when some 18-21 y.o gets bad advice about running some pretty crazy cycles. that's why I got on this site in the first place to get the right advice. I learned more stuff in the past few months on this site than I could have some where else.

Deca is an excellent compound when used responsibly. My use was anything but. I'll be the first to admit that I have a great deal more to learn about this game. But I can pretty accurately tell you what you shouldn't be doing and the ramifications of making those mistakes. I'm actually pretty lucky. Other than my natty test levels and an odd vitamin D deficiency, I'm in good overall health. Just have to be thankful of that.

Did you later injure that same shoulder after deca use? Truth is deca only accelerates production of type 1 collagen. Type 3 is the important one for tissue repair. The ratio of type 1 to type 3 during AAS use masks the issue but does more damage in the long run. It's old bro science when ppl say deca or EQ helps repair connective tissue. It does lube the joints but again, only masking the issue.
To the rest of your post. I agree 100%. Most of us try to be cautious about advice we give. If I don't know something about a particular topic, I'll direct the person asking to someone I know has the answer. As most of the guys here send ppl to me for tren advice. I was like you. I got horrible advice and guidance wen I started. I don't believe it was malicious. Just misinformed bro science. This is the best damn site on the net for AAS information. Good post brother!

Yeah it was the same shoulder. I was in no way advocating the use of deca for any form of joint regeneration. I was simply pointing out what his reasoning was to have me do it and why it made sense to me at the time. I like to run a little npp after cycling with tren because it does seem to give me a feeling of limberness in my major joints, but its definitely minimal. Thanks for your input buddy.

I know you weren't. I got side tracked only because it's a topic i've researched extensively

Someone needs to do a nice write up about being 19 and running tren. These kids are scarring the piss out of me running that stuff so early.

Too true....some of the "gurus" from back in the day. Hope many youngsters or newbs read this and understand that the "it won't happen to me" is very common.

UncleYoked's picture

I think the most frustrating part for me is knowing at age 32, my body has physical limitations. That's not supposed to happen until I'm older.

"A man has to know his limitations".......Dirty Harry. Knowing and overcoming is the battle. Many years ahead of you where YOU set the example with leadership. High five!

Thanks man. I appreciate the support.

Awesome post yoked +1
I'm sure a lot of ppl can relate to this, in one way or another. It's def good to learn all you can about cyling and what different compounds do before you cycle and/or give info to someone about cycling.

Good post brother. I've come to the conclusion that doctors really don't know shit about correct use of compounds. It's a damn shame.
I've got buddies and family members who's doc's put them on TRT. Not a single one realized that it's pretty much a life long committment. The majority of docs don't tell them that.
At any rate, good post.
+1 from me

Thanks bro. There really never was a conversation about trying to jump start anything for me. Guess they thought it wouldnt matter. The only thing they really asked me was if I wanted to use the cream or shots lol. I'll never know know if I could have ever recovered from meds or not at this point.
