Job for a full time student...?
As some may know, I finished my 5 years in the Marine Corps about a month ago. I have one more paycheck coming in, and then...kaput. I missed the fall quarter for school, so I will be starting in January. I will be living with my father for the next two years until I transfer to UC Berekely. Im dual majoring in Chemical Engineering/Material and Science Engineering, so I plan to have one hell of a work load for the next 4+ years.
But in order to continue this lifestyle I have grown accustom to, I may need to get a job, because im not sure if unemployment would cover it. Now I dont go around spending my $$ at will, but with a few bills, and a shit ton of food, money has been on my mind lately.
My buddy from the Corps is doing Aflac insurance sales, and is doing pretty well for himself. Im going to look into that.
What other jobs could a full time student be involved in? When school kicks off, I plan to get my work out in the morning (waking up around 4am). Not sure how my schedule will play out, but it will be a lot (shit ton of chem classes...and physics...and math).

I may be wrong but I don't think you can get unemployment being a full time student. You have to be available for full time work.I understand you probably are but the state may not think so being in school full time. .....can you get unemployment after leaving the military? I wonder if they count that income to decide if you are eligible?
In NY if you are on unemployment without a degree, unemployment will pay for school, as long as you are full time student. You dont have to look for a job while being in school and you continue to recieve unemployment payment insurance. It also extends your eligibility for benifets by two years. You have to maintain a really good GPA in order to recieve this special treatment.
You can get it here and go to school. I'm not sure about the military aspect though. I know people who have collected and gone to school.
Bartenders licence 3 hr course and your good! Always cash in your pocket!
Web cam modeling. Muscular guys can make good money. You have to be homo friendly cuz that's your clients, but you can work on your own time. This may seem like a joke, but I know people that do it. It's good money and very convienient for a student.

Also being in military means your school should be completely paid for. apply for federal student aid as well as state aid. With being military you should have everything paid for
Ohh and the aflac sales is definetly a sales job, that pretty much anyone could take. Its mostly a commission type job, so be prepared to be trying to sell insurance to strangers over the phone, and family members
With your military backround you should apply for a security guard license. Easy job that lets you rest your body and gives you oppurtunity to study and eat on the job. You could do a few overnights.
Restaurant is a great job, especially if they let you eat there. I wouldnt reccomend any blue collar labor type jobs. You'll be too burnt out from work and school.
Also you should consider taking some civil service tests. There is a such thing as part time police officer. Personal Training is also an option, you make your own schedule and gets 25 an hour.
dont worry dude, your first two years are not that bad. for my first two years in a similar program i took some of the same classes. im sure you have the discipline after being in the military. as for a job, work at a restaurant or pick up bar-tending. on campus you prolly will get paid minimum wage but you can work in dining services, the recreation center, work-study, or custodial job. keep all options open. a lot of jobs on campus are super easy.
and if you do work study you get to choose your hours you work. Also gets a little more than minimum wage since it is federal program
Good luck bro, i'm currently unemployed and with tons of bills, even my Audi R5 got repo and i have been getting rid of furniture appliances around the house and shit. is fucking rough, don't know what to do since nobody is hiring, i wish i could find a way to make money but hey it is what it is, i try to stay positive. All i can do is hope that god send something good my way!

since you will be in the science field, some labs have undergraduate research positions that are paid. You are already on campus so its easier to keep up with the work load. At my school there is an undergrad research director that yiu can talk to. If Ufc berkeley doesn't have it just ask the department chair, they can point you in the right direction
