Injections-newb

ad

I read "Steroid 101 for Beginners" and it was helpful but I still have a couple of questions if anyone could help me out. Hate to ask dumb questions but keep in mind Ive never pined. 1)Is the calf a bad site to pin long esters? Ive seen it listed as an injection site but never heard of anyone using it. Im a bit squemish about the needle and have heard of people having problems with quad and delt injections, mentally the calf is just more doable for me but since nobody else uses the calf I was wondering if there is a reason why I should refrain from doing so too. 2)Is the injection more painful if the needle isnt replaced after removing it from the vial? 3)Ive read at least 15 times that before injecting i should "pull back on the plunger, and check that no blood enters the syringe". Again, forgive me if this sounds dumb but even if Im not in a vein, wouldnt a certain amount of blood still enter the syringe when a draw the plunger back? I mean I did just stab myself after all, been stabed twice (not with a pin though) and I bled both times. How do I know if the blood is dirctly from a vein or just blood that was in the muscle I just stabed? (different color etc)

Another question that hasn't been asked is (another noob here): if you aspirate in a vein and some blood enters the vial, do you have to discard that syringe and test or can you still use it in a different injection point?

You can still use it. If blood draws in the syringe, pull it out and choose another spot and retry. Once you aspirate and no more blood enters, youre good to go buddy!

@Ldubb - thanks!

what size pin if shooting test prop i heard 25 gauge 1.5''

It really depends on where youre pinning and a little preference. For example, I use a 5/8 or 1 inch when pinning delts and 1 - 1.5 for glutes and quads. If possible draw with a 18 gauge and pin with a 23-25 gauge. You can draw it much faster with a wider needle. If not you can draw with a 23-25 gauge its just gonna take longer, just dont pin with an 18 lol. Also another reason to draw with an 18 then replace with a 25 is because when you draw the rubber dulls the needle pretty bad so putting a fresh needle on will result in a less painful injection. Hope this helps!

Just pinned for the first time. What really surprised me was how easy the needle gets in your skin. Had to pin twice because in my first attempt to aspirate I yanked the needle out. Aspirating I guess takes a bit of getting used to.
I doesn’t hurt, but it is kind of difficult to control the plunger without yanking the needle a bit. And that kind of stings a bit. It also surprised me that there was no stability. I would have thought the muscles were firmer, or “holding” the needle better.
Just some observation from another noob

Thx, knowing what to expect makes it a bit less scary lol

Any time blood backs up means you should chage your injection point just a FYI after a few times you will get the hang of it

Alot of those questions are really easily answered in research but definetly make sure you aspirate properly otherwise you could wind up in a whole lot of hell. Be safe bro make sure you know what you doin is all. LIke I said though alot of that info you are in need of is posted all around.

Good luck
