With age comes wisdom (along with aches and pains)

ad

Ok kids, take notes...This is how one maintains longevity in this game!

Rough morning... Slept in an extra hour because I know the difference between having the "fuckits" and my body saying "just a little more rest, please".

My knees haven't been feeling right the last couple of days so I skipped legs altogether and my left elbow wasn't handling the straight bar all that well, so I had to improvise on my chest routine. I doubled up on dumbell work then hit the hammerstrengths and ended with some cable work. Since I have already made the change up I will maintain this routine for 3wks then return to my normal routine cuz its good to change it up once and awhile.

The moral of this story is there is a difference between between working through the "burn" and working thru the "pain". Most of us older guys HAVE joint and tendon problems because we went with that old school attitude of "no pain no gain".

I can't stress enough that a MAJOR part of cycling is learning about your body and understanding what it is saying to you. That goes for your routines as well as your compounds. If you don't understand what your body is trying to tell you, how can you listen?

I know what you mean. I here my body sometimes and then just don't listen, then oops!, couldn't pull or curl without a fire in my forearm. Had to abruptly stop my "cycle" and take off for 6 weeks!!! Maybe it was a good thing? I'm much more concerned with the exercises feel now. So anyway the Dr. says I have "tennis elbow". I told him I don't even play tennis :-), but I'm wearing the strap and it feels much better. On a "semi" positive note I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss my TRT options since my bloodtest showed a 71 for Testosterone due the the abrupt "cycle" halt and no PCT. Maybe some Pharma Grade is in my very near future :-) But not till I'm done the Eroids Body Challenge!!!

Bro, ulna nerve issues are common - light reverse curls (bar only) will fix that elbow right up. Got that from a(real) OG yrs ago and you'll be amazed at the results

Thanks hllwdbdboy. Just finished my first real arm session in 2 months and it was good. Lost some strength in the left but controlled movements with the tennis elbow wrap on felt real good. I'll try those reverse curls next week to warm it up!

This is priceless information. And it does take wisdom and discipline to do this. It took me a long time to learn how to listen to my body and know when to dial it down a notch. Its better to adjust the workout and go for reps for me than get banged up and miss a month. Thanks for the words of wisdom

An extra hour of sleep means an extra sore lower back for me...LOL
Grrl keeps telling me Yoga and stretching are key. Looks like I'm going to be ZENing out this winter.
It took me 2 hours this morning to walk straight...lol

All I can do is ask.

I spend 15 minutes rolling my back on the yoga ball every morn... would hate to see what i'd be like without it (LOL)

i wish i had listened to my body and slowed down years ago. now i have tendon damage to my right pec and left bicep that just wont go away.

HGH MAY possibly help with that with long-term use. Ask Tread and see what he says about that.

I am actually on 2 days off right now from training because i hit bench and felt "warmed up" then started mma class without warming up my lower body as well and, first take down i landed on my cold knee and not good i tried to tough it out the rest of the class with poor results and now off a couple days for not listening to my body the rest of my body appreciates the days off as well. Rest will only help your body heal, it will never hurt. thanks.
