Hey mate from what I remember is red meat is higher in ATP than white meat. That could be the reasoning behind that. Phil I have a question. During the last week are you drinking demineralised water? This also helps in getting drier mate and helping with the subQ fluid retention, as does taking a potassium sparing diuretic the day before. By having slightly higer potassium levels it helps draw the fluid from subq into the muscle making the muscle fuller.

Demineralised water? Is it bottled water and not mineral water? I'm using aldactone now @ 75mg X 3 ED and was instructed to switch to lasix on Frid and Sat. I do have potassium pills and wonder if by taking them with the lasix will I be able to retain potassium for that fullness effect? Thanks for giving me something to think about.

Hey mate its in a bottle. It is water that has no minerals in it at all. It was used in car batteries. It is safe to drink though. As for the potassium pills I would still be a tad careful. You don't want too much as it can effect you and stop your heart. Potassium can actually poison you at elevated levels. I have also found in the past that lasix would flatten me out. I used moduretic. It is a potassium sparing diuretic mate. Also when carb loading you need to also limit your fluid intake. Doing this also aids in drawing the subQ water into the muscle.

I will go out and look for some water without minerals. I think I will take your advice on the lasix issue. My coach is dead set on it and maybe I can use just the aldactone all the way through and not let him in on it. I get unwanted results every time I use it so I agree. I always take in a little amount of fluids while carb loading. I believe it's the lasix that ruins me for the day of the show.

THats it mate. See Lasix is a very harsh diuretic and pulls water from subq and intramuscular as well (not wanted. That flatens you out). I usualy cease water the day before and take the Moduretic (potassium sparing) 1/2 in the morning, 1/2 at lunch and 1/2 at night. Over here you can buy the demineralised water in the supermarket. See as I am sure you know you dont want to cut it out to early, if your body senses that you are becoming dehydrated it will do whatever it can to try and hold onto it. When you are eating your carbs when carbing up they already contain substanitial amounts of water from the cooking process. Hence why I used to drink right upto the day before, then cut it and take the diuretics. The only thing I would do was a couple of esspresso coffies during the day.

What is your reasoning on using fish the first three days then red meat? I always thought red meat caused some bloat

phil113kg's picture

It does have the tendency to do that but i'm instructed to run 75mg of aldactone X 3 ED. That takes care of the bloat.

Well that makes sense, nothing better than nutrient rich food if you can combat any negative appearance it may cause
