diet for first cycle

ad
Default - Use Group's defaults.

i'm a week into my first cycle and i wanted to ask for some dietary advice from you all because i'm not 100% positive that the way i'm doing it is right.

prior to my cycle my total caloric needs for maintenance were around 2200 a day at 189 lbs.
i should mention that i'm typically pretty sedentary besides my workouts as i'm unemployed at the present time, which is why my total caloric intake is low.

i was eating at around 2100/200/60/80 (cals/protein/carbs/fat) for macros trying to very slowly lose a bit of body fat before i started without sacrificing any strength gains.

since i've started the cycle i have bumped my calories up to between 2700-2800 and am consuming a macronutrient ratio typically of around 2750/300/100/100.
the carbs/fats go up and down a little but i'm hitting the protein mark first before i eat other foods.

i know when weight goes up i should adjust calories accordingly.

i'm currently eating every 2 hours as much as possible and consuming atleast 20 grams of protein every meal, typically more.

my goal for this cycle is to gain between 10-15 pounds of LBM and the cycle is projecting to extend out to around 13 weeks before PCT.

my question is am i eating enough? should i add more calories?

Also how do I get the @ to be blue. I am unsure I am doing it right and am afraid the people I'm asking will not be notified on my question. Anyone please reply if they read this. Thank you... I'm computer/online forum Illiterate

@XvBeast when not on cycle rule of thumb is 500 calorie surplus for bulking is good place to start until you find out if you can take in more calories. And 500 caloric deficit when cutting. So my question is what is rule of thumb while on cycle regarding caloric surplus/Deficit thank you kind sir..@hrdbdyGRRRL ill ask you aswell Smile thanks

waltr said it .. eat everything .. I suppose if you are into counting calories then 5 to 6 k is what you want to aim for .. the cleaner the calories the less fat you'll have to be concerned about stripping off later but the reality is that it is much easier to lose fat than it is to gain muscle... so .. my rule of thumb is eat and then eat some more ...

I asked this a while back myself and GRRL gave me solid advice. The body processes food at an exceptional rate while on cycle so there is no "standard" calorie amount to eat for gaining weight. Just eat everything, like lots and lots and lots of food. Obviously if you eat 10 double cheeseburgers a day you'll hit a lot of calories and you'll probably put on some fat because of the high fat content of the food and if you eat all chicken breast/tuna you'll get less calories but it'll be higher quality ones.

I've been working on a good balance, mostly healthy "clean" foods, quality carbs (potatoes/rice/pasta) and good lean proteins (chicken, turkey, tuna, steak) but I've found some cheating with "dirty" foods has really helped me get my calorie needs. I started my last cycle at 201 and ate around 4500 calories day and jumped up to 223 with less body fat and I ate some junk food mixed in with my "clean" foods every day. If your goal is to cut just make sure you're in a deficit, but you could probably eat at a surplus anyway and "recomp" or recomposition the bodies fat into muscle while on cycle anyway, so cutting isn't a necessity unless you've got a pretty hefty body fat amount.

that much? i've never been on aas before so i'm gonna have to take you your word for it.
i've read that increased test makes the body make better use of calories and all but i didn't realize i should be eating that much more than my maintenance.

what's your take on protein/carbs/fats if you don't mind my asking?

as i said above i've been shooting for 1.5x body weight for protein and honestly just really filling in the rest.

Beast is right you need to cram the food in if you want to see any gains while running gear. In fact if you don't then don't bother wasting your money on it because without the food the gains will be minimal at best and when you come off cycle you will lose what you gained.

if ur bulking then no, ur not eating enough... u should be eating around 3500 -5000 cal depending on body type and gentics
