Triceps
ad
Just want to see what people think about training triceps. I seem to feel more burn and lactic acid when I train my triceps with light weights with more reps. If I go heavy I don't seem to feel it so much.
I do
Close grip bench press 4 x 10/12
Triceps push downs 4 x 10/12 superset with above.
Over head tricep extensions. 5 x 8/12
If I do the above light it burns like shit. If I go heavy it don't seem to do much.
I injured my shoulder doing dips so I avoid them now.
So what do you lads do??

I recently started lifting in the 6-10 rep range with dumbbells and barbell exercises. If I am using cables the sets will typically be in the 10-13 rep range. The key to big arms is lifting moderately heavy to heavy weights, high volume, controlling the weights on the way down and squeezing the shit out of them on the contraction.
I try to get in 16-20 sets total. In just over 2 months I have added more than an inch to my arms following this method.
a lot more than that, to be honest
your questions scream novice
What sort of experience do you actually have?
So again. A mix of reps. So if you go heavy what exercises would you do that still have an impact on breaking down the tricep tissue.
backonroidsClose grip bench heavy , Weighted dips heavy , skull crusher heavy , maybe a couple heavy tri pull downs heavy then The rest I do medium and light weight .
As far as breaking down the muscle all will have impact aslong as your form is correct elbows in , when i talk heavy I don't mean to the point your swinging or sacrificing form for weight .
When I close grip bench I feel it too much in my chest , arms have been stuck at 17 3/4 inch for months !!!
backonroidsHave you tried different grips , point of contact etc ? What do you usually do on tris ? I feel every individual muscle destroyed after a work out , ill hit all angles and try all approaches.. youll find what works for you .. I always mix it up keep the body guessing
My triceps approach is different from most peoples. But I'm happy with the way it's working because my triceps have tripled in size and they're bigger than they ever have been.
I do my triceps twice a week. On chest day, and then again on arm day. Each time I will pick three tricep exercises to fit into my routine. The first tricep/chest day I will go heavy on all three workouts. Then on arm day when I'm doing my triceps I will go light weight and do twice as many reps. My goal from this is to hit the triceps from every single angle possible. And also working out different types of muscle fiber. I don't want to just strictly go heavy or just strictly go higher reps. So I get both in during the course of the week.
JM presses are my favorite. You can load some serious weight on the bar and still be very deliberate. Far superior to CGBP, IMO
Put very nicely bigbadbrad. That is how I feel. I get more concentrated attention on the triceps when I drop my weight a bit. I also mix up reps and weights with all exercises. Maybe this just comes with experience.
backonroidsI like to do heavy and light with everybody part to be honest to hit both fibers , I tend to do heavy on compound workouts then lighter for more reps and realy concentrate on really squeezing the muscle and the stretch to try and sculpt .
I switch it up between heavy and light weight. Low and high reps but I can hit my triceps sometimes 3 times per week just because I love doing them! They are my best body part too!
NotNatural23I prefer light but I also have a shoulder injury so I do light weights high reps till failure. Sorta the way Gaspari has done his way. I am always sore after workouts. The triceps don't need a lot of heavy weight cause the size of the muscle. plus I find you can isolate the bicep or triceps better with light weights so u dont use other muscles. U seen guys curling a lot of weight but swing their bodies or stuff like that to me. I can do so much different stuff with light weight a great form. U can do slow negatives or hold for isometric position for a little then finish with rep and much more. I do miss heavy weight at times though but as I have gotten older my joints just aren't the same. Love to hear any other metbods guys do.
Today is my chest tri day but my gym is closed today so I don't want to talk about it
Lol! I feel your pain bro. I found out mine was closed after I took my pre-workout and pulled up in the parking lot. I got all pissy and then went to planet fitness LOL
