Finding a new gym
I'm moving in the next two weeks. Right now I have a gym membership through the school, but I graduate on May 6th and the I'm moving so I can be closer to where I want to work and be in the jurisdiction where I can actually work. As much as I hate working out at the school gym, it has very nice equipment and not many people are there in the morning when I go.
But since I'm graduating and moving away, the school gym is no longer an option. The gym that is right down the street from me is a Snap Fitness and I'm not sure if that would be conducive to my weight training. I never had to really look for a gym before and I'm not sure if a Snap Fitness would help me get any bigger. I know that they don't have that many free weights, but I could still use a smith machine and dumbbells for exercise, but if the dumbbells don't go up that high, then is it even worth getting a membership there? Snap doesn't have showers either, but it is only two blocks away, so I could always just run home and shower after. The good thing is that Snap is open 24 hours a day, so I could go whenever and don't have to worry about waiting for the gym to open up.
I could go find a gym about 20 minutes away that would have showers and more weight options, but then I would have to drive 40 minutes round trip every time I wanted to work out. I'm only planning on living in this small town for a year, and then I will be moving to a better area with more gym options, but I don't want to get a membership at a shitty gym for a year and lose any muscle mass that I have gained in the past year.
Would Snap be good for me to keep getting bigger?

try looking up gyms in your area on powerlifting watch website. they will have a list of "hardcore" gyms in your area you might not even know existed (garage gyms, warehouse, barbell clubs things like that) some of those are the best places to train if you really want to get huge
X2.. any gym without a bench isnt much of a gym. even planet shitnes has a bench or two in the place
Mate you have answered your own question about snap fitness. You sound tentative about it for a reason. Listen to that instinct. We have them for a reason mate. I usually pick a gym for its leg equipment. If all the leg gear feels good then I go for it. Most gyms with quality leg equipment noramly have decent dumbells as well. You can get around most other things in the gym just with a power rack and a basic pulldown/row machines but as for legs it's a different story bro. A bad legpress can blow out your knees when you start pilling on the weight. As can a bad extension machine. As for hammies well you will either feel it or you wont. You need that stuff to work mate.
Thanks for the advice. I think the dumbbells go up to 100 pounds and they have bars, but the only thing they don't have is a bench. They have a smith machine... so I might test it out for a free week. But I'll be looking for a legit gym too.
