so i fucked up my shoulder awhile back, and since then ive been working with a trainer a good one i shopped around for a few months dude is a monster to ssy the least. back in point i started working with a trainer to make sure im lifting things properly and safely to avoid further injury while im in treatment and physical therapy. things been going good however today we did my 1 rep max and im utterly disgusted. bench went down to 285 deads are now lower at 275 my squat was terrible 275 (yes i benched more than i squatted). obviously this is not good. the trainer is going to put together a routine for me to get things back in order.
what do you guys suggest so i can compare notes?
i am honestly shocked that my bench isnt worse than the others cause ive been neglecting damn near all pressing motions and i dont know why things are so uneven right now...

If you are in physical therapy and treatment, why would you be doing a bench 1rm? I would question the intelligence of my "trainer" over that one. I wouldn't be trying anything near that until you are way past healed, and been back into lifting for a good while.
Squats shouldn't have suffered at all, unless training stopped for a while.
Same with deads, unless you couldn't hold any weight. Might all be in your head.
Be very careful. Once injured, it's very easy to re injure. Especially when you start feeling good.
training stopped for awhile and i started laying around moping.
might be in my head cause i dont want to go through it all over again i dont know.
If you had it, it comes back. Just take it slow. No need to injure yourself again. Although, if I could go back and do it over, I would never have started training for very heavy weight. I'm paying the price for it now, some 20 odd yrs later. Shoulders and elbows especially. I train differently now, but it still hurts like hell.
Give it time don't let the mind overcome the body
Very true words there, the mind is were the real battle is fought!!!!
AnonI always tell dudes that ask about a max rep on amything? What is your goal? Most say to get big, and be more attractive to females. As vain as that is, we probably all were that way at one time. And I reply, "well when the summer rolls around and your at the beach chasing the cat, let me know if any of the cat you meet ask your max reps on anything."
I have been asked what I bench by women. I guess they see that question as an icebreaker or something. If you're a total Pinocchio who can't tell a lie worth a shit, it is nice to have an answer that impresses.
nah im married that stuff doesnt matter to me. i want the raw power. but like i stated below i dont train like that all the time. i do alot of high volume training most of the time
Is 1 rep max increase your goals? Has your body composition changed? Honestly, 1 rep maxes are useless unless competing. Hard to critique a trainers program without seeing it, and the effort you put into it. Gains come effort put in. Exceptional effort can overcome a subpar training regimen at your stage.
Not useless at all if done properly. Keeps CNS accustomed to lifting heavy and keeps the connective tissues strong to help avoid injury. And it's a lot of fun to see what you can lift IMO. Moderation and common sense are key.
thanks for the imput and yeah things have changed alot bf went up strwngth is all out of whack... i dont train that way normally i do every now and again to see if i got stronger
