beginner seeking advice dealing with injury

ad

Ok so a few days ago I supposedly had a hernia in the lower right hand part Of my stomach. It was barely noticeable looking at it but it hurt like crazy, went to ER, they thought it was my appendix but said come back...went back in 2 days and told them I thought it was a hernia and they agreed. Now 3-4 days after this happened there was no pain at all but still a very small bulge. Now all symptoms are gone. My question is #1. Does this sound like a legit hernia? Either way I have worked really hard to get my body in shape and I refuse to give up. And #2. What kind if exercise can I do and any advise on how to stay on shape or if I should try to go back to gym full force. Thank you on advance for your help.

Update for this post. I'm not sure what my injury was bc I don't have insurence so the dr wouldn't do tests other than to make sure I wasn't dying. I was down for about 2 weeks and now, about a month and a half later, I am back In the gym and back to lifting where I left off. I didn't lose very much muscle but I have put on some weight which was actually needed.

My biggest mistakes have been the result of improper lifting, so I have corrected this and tweaked my exercise program.

Just to make you all aware I've been chatting with this lad on pm. Came here wanting govern a cycle and listened to the advice it was premature. Having taken that on board he's changed his plan so I'd appreciate everyone helping this guy on anything to do with training, diet etc.

Unlike most of the idiots we've seen recently, this lad is a good 'un with his head screwed on so let's help him out.

Thanks.

your actions are solid and worthy of praise and although that was not your intention it is another's obligation to give it anyways. Sometimes it can be a tough crowed maybe even overwhelming to some but what room filled with this many monsters and littler monsters even tiny monsters full of testosterone wouldn't be.lol
I read about that young man's struggle with addiction and me being a 6 year sober recovering abuser myself I can't thank you enough for your full endorsement of him. it only takes a moment of kindness or sharing of your time to give encouragement and guidance that may forever change one path from desperate to determined. I can't speak for him but I know how your willingness to befriend a young stranger that surely looks up to you and has discovered the passion to climb the mountain you've been climbing for years.
Asking all knowledgeable members to please help this kid and give sound advice if asked. Seeing how Respect for one can give a total Stanger a seat at the table no questions asked and how powerful that really is. You have much respect and you already had my respect before for always trying to do the right thing, always give the deserving of praise praise and the ones who need a kick back in line get a kick. Your a solid dude and I hope your young apprentice stays the course listens to you and stays off the shit. It never did anything good for me it's a no brainer.

Appreciate your words mate. I'll help anyone that genuinely listens and commits to the hard work this lifestyle requires. I haven't quite got the patience I once had with the clowns, but the door is always open for the "good 'uns" like this guy.

Sadly it's the clowns and the ungrateful cunts out there that fuk it up for the rest of us by pissing of all high fliers that can truly help the ones willing, dedicated and most importantly in need of learning the right way to achieve the best and safest route to success. Please all you clowns as Catalyst put ya Stop pissing of all the brains on here with bullshit better left unsaid I know I've probably out of ignorance been a clown but not just to be one just becuse im not that smart. it will be a bunch of questions being answered by a bunch more questions.Im just saying guys we ruin a great thing .

Catalyst is an awesome guy. He really
Showed me a ton of support and told me some things that will stick with me. He also shared a lot of very helpful information with me that I have incooperated in my routine for the better. He is in the big leagues, hopefully I will one day achieve half of what he has with his bodybuilding. And from looking at his profile it looks like he may be competing still. Great people like that is what makes this community so great.

Phew. I got away with the "you need a haircut" line.....

No problem mate. You know where to find me if you need me. Real impressed with what you've achieved. Should be proud of yourself.

If it is a hernia get it fixed. It will not get better but can easily take a turn for the worse. All you need to do is sneeze, cough or look at your dog funny to make it worse. Lifting in the gym is probably a guarantee it will get worse.

At this point maybe it's just wishful thinking. Maybe nobody has pushed surgery much bc my lack of insurance. I guess with the lack of testing it just leaves me with a lot of un answered questions bc I like to know what's going on with my body as I go to great lengths to take care of it. Thank u for taking the time to reply bro.

Glad to see you back askin questions....hopefully you are wearing a lifting belt when lifting and working...hernias can heal...but idk if they heal as fast as the one you think you might have had.

If that lower right area is itchy and feels like its tingling...then it probably was a hernia and has partially healed.

Take care of that area and be easy with weight and movement. Always take your time and use good form...

Did you get any blood drawn?

UserNumberNine's picture

Thanks for the reply! There has been no itching or tingling, in fact there isn't any pain at all in the area it was. Obviously I'm afraid to do anything too strenuous. The pain happened out of nowhere and gradually got worse to point I couldn't stand up straight and was just about crawling within 6-8 hours. I went to ER had blood work and urine tested. everything comes back looking good. In fear of appendix rupture we did cat scan as well but they said they couldn't see anything. Told me I could stay or go home but come back next day. I went back a day later and told them my opinion that it could be a hernia. They agreed, with no tests or anything they sent me home from there and said to get rid of it Id have to get insurance and have surgery. Thank u for taking the time to help I do appreciate it.
