+ 2 Shoulder problem, anyone else?
Hey everyone,
Hope you're all having a great week and getting ready for a fun Halloween and weekend!
I'm currently dealing with some frustrating shoulder issues and wanted to reach out to see if anyone here has gone through something similar or is dealing with it right now.
Based on my symptoms, everything seems to point directly to a shoulder impingement. On top of the front/top shoulder pain, I'm also getting a lot of ache and tightness in my trap and right around the shoulder blade (scapula). It's getting pretty persistent with daily movements.
I'm curious:
Has anyone else dealt with this exact combination of impingement, trap, and scapular pain? What ended up being the root cause for you?
Are there any specific physical therapy exercises or stretches that gave you the best relief?
Has anyone tried peptides (like BPC-157 or TB-500) for this kind of tendon/joint issue? Did you notice any real improvement?
Any advice, shared stories, or recommendations would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance, and have a great weekend, everyone!

Just so everyone knows - I'm not trying to be a smart arse on this page by spewing out all this stuff, I'm just trying to help people where i can clearly see what the problem is and how you can fix it before it turns into a bigger issue and the tendon fully tears. A lot of this stuff is easily solveable if you just put in some rehab time once per week and do a brief RTC warm up session before you lift
yes right shoulder pain going on two years now. tried peptides but pain and clicking noise is still there, better some days than others. still able to train shoulders and chest but have issues getting dumbbells above my head, so have to use smith
Thats Supraspinatus problems mate - literally any issues with the arm going overhead, lifting to the front or to the side is to do with that tendon. Its the main one that gets torn by people training as anatomically it is under the most strain and awkward shearing stress positions continually. Infraspinatus and teres minor on the back purely get involved with rowing actions involving the back/turning the arm outwards and tend to just become frayed over the years, and the subscapularis on the front is like a second chest/pec muscle that is involved in the bench press and rotating the arm inwards. If your supraspinatus is affected by a small tear then you will have big problems balancing dumbells especially overhead mate.
Need to do specfic rehab work for it like the exercises I have mentioned below and also get an MRI done to see the condition of it.
Yep… surgery on both shoulders. They hurt all the time. Can’t do bench barbell or dumbbells… have to use creativity on chest days. With that said, still mange to pull of capped shoulders
My left shoulder has a bone popping up near my trap and I get horrible pain down my back and lats. horrible haven’t lifted the same since except when I’m running tb and Bpc. The day after injection each time it feels healed for some good time
I injured my left shoulder when I was playing football in high school. I never had to get surgery, but there was significant pain when lifting that never went away.
That is until recently after I cranked up my gh dose. I can't speak to other peptides like BPC or TB - never tried em because I've seen so many conflicting reports.
But I truly believe high dose GH cured my shoulder.
Remember rich piana? I once watched one video where he talked about injecting gh right on the affected area, is that what you did?

Nah I do subq in stomach
Exact same problem in my left shoulder often. Usually happens late in a push day for shoulders or chest. Muscles tire and form gets bad, elbows flare out and there’s the pain. Time off helps, had good results with band work too. Never used bpc or tb for my shoulder but did for pain in my left pec and it worked very well.
Supraspinatus issues again mate - when the elbows flare it puts a massive tension across it and it gets stretched to its maximum level. This is why when pressing you should try to flare only to a maximum of 45 degrees out to the side as the stress is way less and safer. Even when shoulder pressing watch for them flaring out to the sides - Unfortunately when the elbows flare we get the best muscle activiation in both the shoulders and chest so naturally you want to do it as it feels good and gives the best pump afterwards - but its the most destructive on the RTC. Full can raises mate - do them for a few weeks and make sure not to do any pressing movements at all the day afterwards to let the tendon heal. Peak protein synthesis in tendons occurs at 24 to 36 hours in after the rehab session so if you train at this point you will undo all the repair work that you have done. See if it helps
Whenever I start to get any shoulder pain at all I always take a week off from Chest / Shoulder training. When I come back to hit my chest / shoulders again following that off week, I always do a chest fly day with zero pressing. This way you can really gauge how the shoulders are feeling going forward, and if all is good with fly's then the following chest will have some light pressing included in it. Make sure to always do a good long warm up with bands / cables to get your rotator cuffs warmed up as well. I always do this on all chest / shoulder workouts, I'll spend a good 10 minutes warming my rotators up.
Thinking back all those years now to when I had an impinged shoulder, the only thing that got rid of it was taking a full 2 weeks off weights - you need to rest your upper body totally and it will relax and open back up.
I have this exact issue, right shoulder. At one point years ago It was so bad that I couldn't raise my hand out in front of me any more than 1/2 way.
It's improved since then but it will flare up from time to time and really give me trouble. I'm sure one day it will just blow out and I'll be in for surgery, but have managed to be nurse it along for over a decade.
Hopefully you have a sprain or something that will heal, but you're going to have to take it easy and let it heal. Don't be like me and just push thru it.
Its your supraspinatus that most likely has a partial tear in it mate - front flexion and abducting the arm to the side up to 90 degrees are impossible when you have just done this. Get an MRI mate to see the size of the tear because most likely in time it will progress to a full tear like mine did. OR really get into RTC rehab exercises - the best exercise to do is the Full can raise at 45 degrees, lift the dumbell up to 120 degrees then resist it all the one down taking 4 or 5 seconds to do this. This single move done like this strengthens the tendon more than any other exercise, tendons grow stronger and repair themselves most when resisting the weight on the decent rather than the contraction on the way up. Also side lying dumbell raises work well, or using a resistance band abducting both hands out to the sides.
This is what my physical therapist is having me do. I’ve never been humbled by so little weight, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t work. Also got some dry needling done which at first worsened it, but ultimately helped
Were gonna have to discuss this further lol if there's a chance to rehab it I'm all ears. As of now just trying to nurse the damn thing
What do you do to keep under control?
Initially I took about a month or so away from barbell pressing. Only dumbbells, but even then I didn't give it enough time to heal. You should probably stop pressing altogether and just do band work for a while and after a couple weeks REALLY ease back into it.
If it continues hurting stop and scale back and if that doesn't work see a dr
Heavy bench or overhead press can cause this. If going to heavy the bigger muscles can outpace the scapular stabilizers.
Go a lot lighter with more reps, but let it heal up a bit first.
Incline bench feels worst, incline dumbbells as well.
Is there a specific exercise you feel has caused this problem?
How are you lifting your arm when it hurts - to the front, side?
Mostly chest bro, like incline dumbbells, high to low cables things like that
Mate ditch the Incline Dumbells for now - they are the most demanding exercise for the rotator cuff and any impingement problems/bursa inflammation that may be going on. Dumbells require much more stability than a barbell as they can sway left to right and ALSO forwards and back - a barbell can only go forwards or backwards. Never told anyone this, but when I tore my supraspinatus 6 months ago when I was trying to keep training before the surgery date I was doing incline dumbell press and actually tore it again!!! The incline angle puts extra stress on it all as opposed to flat.
Have you done any rotator cuff tests to see if its likely you have torn this? Such as the Full can test and also Horn blower test? It you have partially torn the cuff its most likely the supraspinatus. I have had an impinged shoulder many years ago from benching and it feels like the shoulder is clamped shut and unable to move or open up. An MRI or Ultrasound would be your best bet here so you can actually diagnose the issue rather than guessing. For 2 months I actually thought I had torn my infrspinatus from online disgnosis but I hadn't in the end.
Indeed brother, i really feel it when i do dumbbells and high to low cables, i have been doing some really good exercises physical therapy related, and it feels a little better, so the plan going forward is to take it easy, light weigh and high reps and of course avoid exercises that can stress the are more than it should.
