It is my understanding that only plain water counts as water. I had a conversation w/ someone at the gym who had a flavored fitness water. Her stance was it counts as water. I say it doesnt... My line of thinking it's really no different than the crystal light one bottle lemonade packs. That can't be the same as water IMO because once you add the powder to it, It turns into lemonade... She says that counts as water too.
I say only water counts as water...

From my understanding, you should watch the "flavor" water, crystal light etc because they contain sugar alcohols which in turn is kind of defeating the purpose of drinking the water. I just drink a gallon of spring water a day, during workouts i'll add my BCAA's.
Water is water. Sodium containing drinks do not 'count' as water intake as the sodium retention and caffeine are offsetting what the body is actually absorbing. Crystal light, MYO flavoring, black coffee, etc. all count as water intake.
Its pretty simple, water is water. You may be able to alter it a bit with coloring or other additives but it still is water no matter what.
I guess I'll tuck my tail and tell her she was right. Probly wont even see her again... But real good to know thanks.
If it started as H20 then the compound doesn't change by adding flavoring. Yes, you may have added some sodium and artificial sweetener but the original water is still there.

seriously bro? diet kool aid does count as water? i dont mind being wrong, but at least tell me why?
I'd say yes and no , yeah its got water but , just water is gunna clean you out and hydrate you . Anything diet , especially if it has aspartame negates the cleaning effects of water because, yeah you're hydrating a bit but for me the aspartame is poison and gives me bad headaches. So I'd say kinda but not near as clean as water cause your kydneys are gunna be working to clean, instead of getting cleaned. Like all chicks ya gotta tell her she's right but know she's wrong. J/k
