meal prep
i was wondering from some of the guys on here how man days or meals do you prep at a time.
most guys who know me on here know im not trying to be the lean guy but recently ive had a change of heart! ive decided to stop the see food diet and start doing it right.
for the past week and a half ive been just doing 6 meals the night before. my questiom really is how many can you make in advance and freeze without worrying about the food going bad?
example of what im doing:
6 oz chicken breast cooked in olive oil
1 cup brown rice
mixed veggies i really like the cauliflower broccoli blend
2 dinner rolls and im having either water or 100 fruit juice with each meal
all that six times a day then i have a builder bar 2x a day and i have a syntha 6 protein shake with 16 oz whole milk instead of water.
to add a few more calories ill put a tbs of seasoned olive oil in the rice.
how does this example look to the diet pros on here? this was just the first day.i did 90 percent lean ground beef one day turkey one day pork another i dont fuck with sea food so thats out!
looking for solid feedback thanks bros!

I usually do 3 days max in the fridge. Meats can start to go bad beyond that. Freeze them if u need them further out.
And also eating that way doesn't need to be boring..right now for my preworkout meal I'm eating a bowl of 7 hardboiled eggs, smashed up with half an avocado and some hot sauce...tastes phenomenal! Then I just eat a head of broccoli and I'm good, solid meal with well over 60-70g of protein, 20g of fat and 10g of fiber from the broccoli.
Dude that is wayyyyyy too many carbs, you just said you wanted to lean out yet your eating well over a 100g of carbs with each sitting so thats 600g of carbs a day!? 6oz of protein is not enough protein either if you're trying to lean out. I spent a lot of money to work with a nutirionist so before people jump on me for having a -5 karma rating hear me out (that was because of my aggression last cycle and bugging out on the haters on here lol). Heres what I do.
For 3 weeks or so cut all carbs (almost) completely. If you're running gear you should be able to preserve most of your mass without any issue. My diet consists of NO starchy carbs the only carb source I have is green veggies. The motto to go by is the bitter the better so think stuff like collard greens, broccoli rabe, swiss chard, mustard greens, etc. You want something with tons of fiber which will help your digestive system work like a machine. There is no need to measure the green veggies just eat as much as you can as they are not very calorie dense. With protein I try to go for 8oz minimum and 10-12oz post work out (paleo means you can't drink protein or eat those crap bars you can only eat real food, trust me you'll feel better overall this way). Then you want to shoot for about 100-150g of healthy fats a day avocados, olive oil, kerrygold butter, almonds, shit like that. Again this is just my opinion and something I do on or off cycle even when bulking so I can stay lean, I just increase fats and proteins during a bulk phase and might eat an additional meal or two every day. After the first 3 weeks you'll see drastic changes and what it does is allow your bodies natural insulin production to stabilize, then you can begin to slowly add starchy carbs back if you intend on bulking up or keep them low to continue leaning out. This is honestly the best way I have found to bulk and cut without ever getting that fat overweight physique and doing this keeps fat off in the long run if you ever go periods without training or eating that well. It's about training the body and make it's homeostasis the same diet all year, when people cut and bulk with crazy changes they are only fucking themselves up in the long run. I used to eat carbs like that and I was just fluffy and super inflamed spilling out fat from the excess carbs all over my stomach despite looking pretty big. I'm telling you you'll appear bigger when you're leaner because of the increased definition. At least give it a try for 2-3 weeks and see how it goes.
Just to note the green veggies help you maintain solid shits in the beginning because when you cut carbs and increase protein it usually leads to diarrhea so just try to eat as much of those greens as you possibly can.
6oz of chicken breast is about 32 g of protein as well dint know where you got your math from. the bidy can only absorb up to 50 at a time the rest you piss out its a waste... lol not trying to say you dont know what youre talking about but it sounds that way..
you didnt read it lol i said i am stoppung the see food diet and doing it right i never said i wanted to lean down... i had a change of heart about the way i eat not my build i dont want to be a pretty boy never have never will... im not cutting carbs fuck that i did it once and was completely miserable ill never do it again. thanks for taking the time tho
i maintain a certain physique im not chiseled or ripped but im over the top strong and thats all i ever wanted. my muscles have agility for days i plan to keep it that was. i go under 300 g carbs in a day i feel like shit its just not worth it
Every Sunday my girlfriend and I prep for the entire week. We portion it out for each of us and it's good just staying in the fridge for one week. I wouldn't freeze many things other than soup or spaghetti sauce.
I'd die of who gives a fuck chicken if I ate off your menu even once. Way too boring for my palate.
chicken is my favorite meat next to like ribeye or prime rib. i dont really like pork or other types of steaks. i think im the only person on the planet who doesnt like bacon or ham shit makes my stomache turn. ill fry up some porkchops every now and again but im a pretty picky eater ground beef and chicken almost everyday lol alot of times i get lazy and buy canned chicken breast mix that shit with miracle whio and seasoning and throw it on bread or crackers 2 to 3 times a day lol im pretty on the go most of the time my job is very demanding of my attention
Man if you can handle that more power to you. Half my problem with diet is I just can't eat boring food. Can't do it.
welp i cant stand bonless skinless chicken breast anymore, so what i do is go to walmart, pickup one of the premade roaster chickens for like 4 dollars, when your rip all the chicken off the bone i get a little under 2lbs so perfect for 3 meals. Its so easy that i dont even bother prepping it. I just go to the fridge, cut off enough until it weighs out to about 10oz. then i have these minute rice cups. its like a half cup i think 40g of carbs, 60 seconds in the microwave and i dont even heat the chicken i just eat it cold and thats my meal. simple. But if im gonna be out all day ill prep it the night before, usually i cook my breakfast, most of the tme eggs and oats or oats and an protein shake, my wife bought me one of those isobags a while ago that holds like 4 meals so ill pack up each meal indivudually and im on my way. so thats 4 meals right up until workout time. post workout ill usually drink i dont know exaclty what size it is maybe a quarter gallon or so of chocolate milk, or if i can stomach it a protein shake, then the wifey cooks dinner which is usually steak and potatoes, and my last meal will usually be greek yogurt and a scoop of whey or a whole egg or 2 and some egg whites. so ill eat chicken like 3 days in a row, then ill have tilapia 2-3 days in a row, again the talipa is so damn easy if im gonna be home all day i dont prep. minute 30 in the microwave to defrost it and probably 5 minutes on the skillet and its done and i add 1-2 cups of rice. But if im gonna be out all day ill prep them the night before and put them in tupperware. Im in real estate, so when i buy a new house im usually busy for about a month straight remodeling it and im gone all day so sundays ill prep food for m-w, then weds an off day from the gym so ill prep food for thurs-sat. Sundays basically an anything goes day, cheat day. so i dont prep anything for sundays, i just eat as much as possible and rest as much as possible. to get the calories up ill add either a tablespoon or two of olive oil like you, or 2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter. I just try to get protein from minimum 3 different sources everyday but usually 4 so i get the different amino acid profiles of each type of protein, eggs, chicken, whey, steak, and greek yogurt, and milk i guess counts as another or eggs fish whey ground beef greek yogurt. I really do all i can to avoid protein shakes. Im so sick of them at this point after drinking them daily for years now. Ive found zero difference in results having chicken or something post workout vs a whey shake.
my only suggestion would be adding more variety as chicken has x amount acids in x amounts and fish has a different amount as does steak etc. I think its fine to have like 3 meals of the same thing i do the same but its good to have something differnet for breakfast like eggs and something different for dinner like steak or ground beef, i think beef in general is the best post workout meal, a big ass steak after your shake or ground beef etc.
Thanks, lots of good ideas here. Trying to get wifi motivated to start cooking with me.
theres a ton of cholesterol in those full chickens (although they are good as shit in comparison to boneless breasts lol)..what do you do on cycle to keep your HDL and LDL in line if you're eating like that?
this is great info. as, far as a protein shake i drink that after the gym cause my stomache is usually fucked up after i workout and try to eat solid food and i puke most of the time, sometimes i can eat it depends if i go in and do deads or squats something heavy on general solid food isnt happening lol
Nice, thx for taking the time to go through all this. Good info and ideas. +1
Walmart has chicken breast 5lbs for $10-$15. Cook the whole rack or freeze some of the raw chicken. If you cook the whole rack, just put meals for the next 2-3 days in the fridge and the other meals in the freezer. Then as you go through them, just "cycle".... you get the point
I do up to 5 days in refridgerator and it works ok for me. Prep 10 meals on sunday to be eaten at work twice a day. Similar to the meals youre prepping.
backonroidsI usually do 3-4 days worth and refrigerate I find chicken and beef etc fine upto that point obviously freezing would be longer but I'd rather cook every 3 days or so .
