Tall guy, small guy

ad

Its said that taller people are at a disadvantage from the shorter guy when it comes to building muscle. The shorter guy is able to build muscle faster because there muscles are distributed over a smaller area. So they will only get that small powerful look, and once they reach a ceIrtain size there wont be much room fo grow any further either because of there smaller frame. Although taller guys have a harder time putting on weight, with some hard work there will always be room to grow. For example looking at particular exercises. Pullups are one of the best strength gaining exercises. But the exercise isnt a tall persones exercise. Being that the taller person would have to use a wider grip compared to the shorter person. If you are,a tall person its unlikely you will have short arms. Another example would be the biceps. In a taller person the biceps are longer instead of the shorter guys. So the shorter guy can build muscle quicker because the taller person has more of an area to fill wifh new muscle cells. So al in allif small or tall you can build muscle. If your tall you might have to work a little harder. But there is no excuse why you cant pack on some muscle.

6"4 checking in! I feel your pain. I was once 170lbs... shit. It has taken years, years, gear and years to get to almost 300 now. My first show I looked like a damn swimmer on stage and was a light-heavy lol. then next a heavy and still looked like a bitch. Anyway took years away from cutting and got huge. The pay off "my opinion" is when the 5"6 walks in all huge then a 6"4 super heavy walks in I know what I think is pretty freakin awesome. So in summary work with what you got. We may not be able to change our height but any size guy can be a monster. Stay focused.

Mate it's not who builds quicker or slower. You touched on it briefly. The fact that a shorter guy looks to have built more muscle is the fact that the smaller frame has less room than the larger frame. A guy who is 6'4 can just as easy put on 20lbs of muscle as a guy who is 5'6. But the 20lbs looks a lot more as it doesn't have as much room to fill is all.Lets look at two very good bodybuilders of totally different statures. Arnold and Franco. The much shorter Franco looks very impressive thats for sure but when you get a tall guy with the same amount of muscle on his frame then they take up a lot more space and do look more impressive. All that being said a tall guy can put on just as much as a shorter guy, he just needs to put more on to look the same. Hope that helps.

The advantage to us midgets is exactly that....compact. I'm 5-4 so if im shredded at 200 and you're 6ft with same weight then yes. I'll look huge while you'd look average. Levetage, arm spacing etc if a falloucy.. I have to press from chest to lockout just like you. Best way though in my opinion is whether you're going onstage to compete. The guys in the heavyweights for some 20 years now have been straight monsters! Paul Dillet and Lou Ferrigno are two tall examples. Lou was 312 shredded in his last Olympia. For us midget...imo...it looks aesthetically better under 212. Not to say a short dude can't hit the 230's but to say that there's still the idea of looking like a statue....a work of art.

So really....you have to think of your particular ideal weight/size. I can get over 210...but i liked how i looked n felt at 202. And i don't bump my head on doorways ;p haaaa!

Its all perception, leverage, size to weight ratio, shorter distance to move the same weight for a complete rep.... Blah Blah Blah! When its all said and done, I can still reach the stuff on the top shelf without a stool! LOL ;-P

No, I don't think you even know there is a top shelf! LOL ;-P
