Ever try synthol..,JOKING. ....Do not use synthol.... like allshot13 pretty much says you gotta hit em hard ..I am in the same boat as you and I try and hit cavles 2 times a week
I do 4 different sets. Only allow 15 seconds rest each time. If they do not hurt like a mofo in a day or two then you need to train harder with less rest.
No1its genetics not your workout, look at how arnold and other bodybuilders get calf implants
Mine are also really stubborn so I do tri sets now, Seated calf raise to standing calf raise strait to Leg Press calf raises 10-15 reps on each stretch for 1 minute then repeat x5 finally seing some seperation.
Calves are the most genetic muscle in my opinion. I know guys that have never exercised a day in their lives that have calves comparable to olympia level bodybuilders. There are also guys (like me) who train hard as all hell and have baby calves. What I've noticed is training them just as I train other body parts (multiple movements, heavy weight, 10-12 reps) works best for me. I've done 100 rep drop sets, and other things, which works for many people, but hasn't helped me much. If I go heavy and train them 2-3 times per week, I make the most improvement.
I have good leg genetics but still train them hard, at 35 took them from 16" to 17-1/2 natural, now almost 18" after a couple of cycles. What works best for me is to hit them at least 3 times a week, often 2 days in a row, resting two days and repeating. Many times I just do one exercise, single leg calf raises with bodyweight one leg after another, no resting, all 5-6 sets to failure...
I work mine atleast 2tiimes a week. Heavy heavy heavy !! Get a good stretch !!
Hell yeah bro FULL REP RANGE!!! Complete stretch at the bottom and squeeze at the top!
