Protein Powder Question.

ad

God I love this forum. Anyways, I am trying to keep my cholesterol low and am wondering if taking a normal amount of Protein Powder will just jack up my cholesterol levels? Is there any way to take some sort of protein (powder, amino acids, etc) that doesn't come with increasing cholesterol?

Trust me, I know that the best thing for me to do is speak to my doctor but he's completely against alot of stuff that I do so figure I'd get ADVISE from the peeps on this forum. I had a widow maker heart attack a year ago and am cleared to work out as normal (I know its amazing but the damage to my heart didn't affect the left ventrical alot so I can still lift pretty good) but want to take some sort of protein. I just don't want to clog up an artery while I'm doing it.

Thanks

Why would you think that amino acids would clog your arteries?
Not unless the powder you're using is some low grade, fat and carb filled, throw in the trash mix, you'll be fine.

Maybe I phrased that part of the question wrong. I know that aminos don't but wasn't sure if they are as good as protein powders or should be used in conjunction with the protein powders. I'm just super nervous about cholesterol for obvious reasons. Thanks brother for the input.

I read your other post, where you outlined your heart history. Makes sense. Good quality protein/aminos would be fine for you. There are plenty of companies out there that produce product that would fit the bill for you. Just don't mix it with other fatty things. Stick to water as your solvent.
