+ 3 Essentials

ad

I wanted to help clear the air on supplements one would need when first beginning a workout program. I'll list the essential supplements and the reason why I suggest you use them.

  1. Isolate Whey Protein - The reason I suggest a Isolate Whey Protein juxtaposed to a regular protein complex is the absorption rate. Your body metabolizes the isolate much quick and therefor more efficient at providing your muscle with the necessary nutrition. When you make a protein shake there is two important times you need a fast metabolizing protein. The first time is as soon as you wake up. For the entirety of rest, you've fasted for several hours, so your body is in a catabolic state. You need to stop the catabolizing immediately. So drinking an Isolated Whey Protein will supply your muscle much faster saving muscle mass overtime. The second time you need an Isolate Protein is immediately following your training. After your training your body has depleted its glycogen levels and it's stating to consume muscle for fuel, causing yet again another catabolic state. This is bad, you need to supply your body with more protein and simple carbs to stop the catabolizing and replenish your glycogen levels. [If your worried about putting on weight, thinking about weight gainers? Don't waste your money, most of the weight gainer out contain processed carbs, so just grab a banana or two and eat with your protein shake.]

  2. Fish Oil/ Multivitamin - Fish Oil contains Essential Fatty Acids, EFA's and Omega-3's are very important fats your body need for your major organs including your heart to function properly and healthy. A good multivitamin is necessary to make sure your body has all the essentials required to grow and maintain overall good health.

  3. Glucosamine/MSM - Helps lubricates and protects joint health. Lift causes a lot of unadjusted strain to joints, and this is more so when you first start out and your form is perfected. Overtime you will regret it if you choice not to supplement with this.

  4. Essential/Branched Chained Amino Acids - Aminos are the building blocks of protein synthesis. Animos are also another barrier against cortisol, [the catabolism causing hormone] your body produces during your workout. First your body will consume the amino before it's able to break down the protein in the muscle fibers. I would advise getting a powder form of the EAA's which include all nine, and mix it in with your water. sip it as your work out.

  5. Casein - Casein is a slow release protein, some casein complexes has a slow release of 8-12 for you long sleepers. This is a recommend protein to take right before bed, to help prevent catabolism. I often take and mix a scoop in my post workout shake to have a slow release of protein after my body has metabolized the Isolate.

Everything else really is a waste of money, your body can only absorb so much of one thing, before it becomes detrimental. When it comes to supplementing and AAS, more isn't always better... Hope this helped.

What about Creatine? Isn't that considered one of the top supplements?

I would remove # 3,4, & 5. And add vitamin D, vitamin C, and a good probiotic. And liquid pasteurized egg whites if you count that as a supplement.

A good multivit should contain the full range of vitamin C and D. And the egg whites would fall more under the category of food/nutrition.

I take 3000mg vitamin C and 2000iu D3 per day. Pretty sure that's a lot more than is in a multi. Also use the liquid egg whites like you use the casein. As a slower digesting protein in my shakes. Different strokes. But definitely wouldn't call glucosamine essential. Deca does a way better job :-). Peace bro! Oh, and add rolaids/tums (antacid) as well!

LMAO Deca does a better job, I couldn't agree more, however this is about essential supplements for beginners not AAS. By those numbers I say it's safe to assume your not a beginner, or as I like to call them "griefers". Stole it from south park, it stuck around gym.

Thank you sir. I wrote this yesterday to help beginners understand how to use carbs to their advantage. By choicing the proper type of carb and when it's most beneficial to consume, based around your training.
