+ 2 Canelo Alvarez

ad

Is Canelo Alvarez the best ? I think if he fought a prime Floyd now it would be a different fight. And has he been on more Peds than the boar meat incedent. He's surely up there with the best super middleweights. Where will he go from here?

ladykiller's picture

Arguably greatest P4P of all time imo and if he continues the way hes going he will solidify that.

Mightymike's picture

He just seems to get better and better each fight who could give him a serious challenge atm?

The sky is the limit for Canelo right now. Are you a fan of Fury as well? I'm interested in who he will fight next. I believe Usykk could be a problem.

How can you not love Fury? The way he came back and beat Wilder. That third fight is up there with the rumble in the jungle for excitement

Usyk is a problem for anyone. Fury is special though, his boxing brain and his speed for such a big guy will see him through. He’s proven too that he can take some heavy shots and get back up. There aren’t many harder hitters out there than Wilder and he got back up and beat him comprehensively.

The way Usykk moves though is very interesting. I expected to see him slow down on the later rounds with Joshua. Instead he was high energy all the way and schooled him.

I think fury would use his extra size and reach to weigh him down like he did with wilder

Problem with that is unlike wilder Usyk can box and use his feet. Wilder does nothing but look to drop his 2. He has zero ring IQ and 2 left feet. Usykgive fury a much more skilled fight not a brawl. Great fight either way as both are intelligent in the ring and skilled.

To the OP no one is fucking with Canelo at 168 or 175. I don’t want to hear anything about Charlo who isn’t even in the same weight class or Andrade who could move up and become the mandatory yet doesn’t. Benivedez would be a fun fight but his defense is suspect and has awful foot work. Dave has great stamina the fight would go into the later rounds but again Canelo will just break him down and finish him.

This man cleaned out the division in 11 months and went undisputed. Held belt in division below and above his current weight class and is more active than any fighter in the sport. He has earned the title of p4p. He fights nothing but champions while all these so called contenders sit idle and want him to give them. Lottery ticket or he’s a duck. I don’t get it.

Mightymike's picture

I still think fury would be able to use his size and weight to lean on him and wear him down. He could get caught like he did against Steve Cunningham. He did come through that in the end, I think that was the fight he punched himself in the head.
It's just been announced Canelo is challenging Makabu at cruiserweight
What are you're thoughts on that?

He said it himself the other day at the WBC “ I beat all the champions at 168 I can do want I want now can’t I?”

I like him moving up it’s a pattern of his. He moved up to fight GGG before. He then moved up to 175 before dropping to 168. I see him moving to cruiser Which is 190 now not 200 grabbing a belt and coming down to 175 for Beterbieves belts. I really think he goes up to condition himself and then comes down and it’s a walk in the park. I guarantee It’s rough for him making 168 he s very stout and probably rehydrated to 185 plus.

What I love about him moving up is it forces all the dudes playing scratch off ‘s hoping to fight him to fight one another. It’s a joke. Andrade is fighting on a Friday night tonight let that sink in. Charlo got taken the distance by a punching bag who stood in-front of him all night in Monteil. Benavides kills him self trying to make 168 and still needed a 169 clause against Davis last week. Big props to Davis taking a short notice fight and going out on his shield he fights at 160 and moved up.

What should happen is Andrade and Charlo fight to unify which they never will. Benavides needs to fight Plant who just went 11 with Canelo as a litmus. I think Plant beats him by decision. Either way win or lose for Benavides he needs to go up to 175 he’s just hanging at 168 as a bully. Bivol and Beterbiev need to unify. Then I guarantee it will open doors for all of them instead of just sirring around fighting once a year.

For fucks Sake Canelo fought 2 weeks ago beat a champion and became undisputed and just announced his next fight already.

I think Usykk would be difficult in comparison to Wilder as this guy knows how to really box and move. I was very impressed in his bout against Joshua.

He’s a very interesting fighter. It would be a great bout for sure. The heavyweight division is very exciting at the moment. There are some great permutations there. I’d love to see Wilder vs Usyk and Wilder vs Joshua too. My money would be on Wilder to beat Joshua but I wouldn’t like to call the other.

I think Ruiz is going to fight wilder. Who you got for that?

I think if Ruiz puts pressure on him from the get go. He will definitely have a good chance.

I suppose it depends what shape he's in doesn't it. It would be a good fight I think. Wilder could knock him out but I don't think he's got enough defence for Ruiz's quick hands although as we saw with Fury he's tough.

I was mesmerised when he wobbled Joshua all over the canvas. I wish he had come back in at the same weight for the rematch. He was alot slower with the added weight.

Wilder needs to up his boxing IQ he has the power but doesn't have the boxing style for counter shots etc he was relying heavy on that one shot kill.

You’re definitely right there. The problem is with a guy like him is it usually only takes one shot. Fury is one tough cookie to come back like he did. I don’t think Ruiz could come back if he does get caught. I sound like a Wilder fan, trust me I’m not.

I'm a fan of boxing in general. You have to appreciate the power Wilder has and you could clearly see in the Fury 3 fight that he had learnt something new but as Mike Tyson famously quoted "everyone has a plan till you get punched in the face" that's when Wilder reverted back to his one shot kill method. Fury tuck a serious shot no idea how he got back up. On slow motion you could see the impact ripple through his entire body. Monstrous.

I’ve been a huge fan of Fury for a long time. The way he outboxed klitschko was one of the best performances in recent history. My one worry for him was if he could take a proper hit. He’s certainly proved that he can. He looks unbeatable. I’m sure the reason Wilder was so determined to get the 3rd fight was that he believed (as did many) that if he finally caught Fury once he would knock him out. I still don’t know how Fury got up from that.
