ad
Hello
I am about to have a blood test for my IGF-1 levels.
Am I suppose to fast before my blood test?

For all the pre-planned blood tests I've done in my life the lab requested me to show up on a fast (including for IGF).
I see you want to do this to test the quality of your hgh, so make sure to take a baseline test before and to run the hgh for at least 3 weeks before re-testing. I mean, theoretically you may re-test earlier, but as far as I know the igf won't be near-peak (still it should be increased from baseline if your hgh is genuine).
Hey I just went through this a couple times since last March. Bloodwork is always ordered (properly) as a fast for most hormone panels. I fasted and took mine early morning initially, and then used some dietary tricks the second time. The first lab panel showed my IGF-1 had mid range, but I successfully lobbied the doctor to retest and consider a GST follow up for GH deficiency/insufficiency. IGF-1 is the strongest indicator of GH deficiencies but requires a follow up GST as even IGF-1 can mislead diagnostic decisions in many, if not half, of patients. If you want to trick the IGF-1 values the best way is to eat a crappy, high carb, low fat diet a few days or week prior to test. Claim you jave fasted on morning of blood draw, but wake up and take Glycine on empty stomach, then eat purely high carb food the hour before test. It isn't a sure thing, but it worked the second test of mine so I recommend trying. Some say stay up all night and do other shit to increase cortisol and stress, but I like my sleep too much lol.
As an aside, you can always trick testosterone values by loading up on high carb, full meals and tons of sugary soda the hour or less before the blood draw. I've scored low while on trt during checkup labs to have the dose upped. I've also been on cycle and scored in lowish normal ranges. It is fool proof.
No need, assuming you're taking gh
I'm taking HGH and IGF-Lr3. Just want to test the quality of my source.
Thanks for the replies
