49 and Thinking About TRT

ad

It's not even thinking about it, it's how do I get started. I've played with steroids, did a small var cycle 2 years ago, and some SARMs. But after cruising for a long time, I figured I'd go get labs to see what my natural test levels are. They came back today and no wonder I feel like shit.

Testosterone,Free and Total
Testosterone, Serum 192 Low ng/dL
Free Testosterone(Direct) 6.9 pg/mL
Estradiol 18.2 pg/mL

From what I know, 192, is very low. So my question is, how do I get started TRT? Should I go to the doctor, my GP and show him my results, or just self medicate? I'm in good shape, but noticed the fat hitting my mid-section, and libido is almost gone. Sucks getting old. How did some of you get started in TRT? Did you just go it on your own and self-medicate, or go to your GP?

Thanks.

In the same boat. Labs just got done.
Test was 247 (normal starts 348)
And my estradiol was 5 (low).

I'm 40. Thinking calling my general doc.

Any advice about how to approach doc?

Sure. follow me.....
I'm having a lil problem in the bed room. My wife is just more aggressive than I am, Im a little older than her and honestly she chases me for it and I would like to provide that for her but I'm just never in the mood. I looked at my testosterone and its low, can ya help me out with that? I don't wanna lose my wife over this.... I would like to be in the High normal range if at all possible.. And Im willing to change my diet or take statins if cholesterol starts to go up.

Dude I just gave you a 100% a 100% hook up with test. now go use it. You will get a script fro test before he even checks your levels. Take that to the bank.
thank me later.

I self medicate now, but I started at a TRT clinic for 3 years. I say start with the MD than if it's cost effective you can do it yourself with a baseline dose.

What the hooker said. Go to your Dr. Most male Drs will just give it to you for asking. Some may want an endo consult. Screw that shit, Endos will shoot you short. A GP will often give you a rule of thumb dose and check you in about 6 months, so drop your dose the last month by half and get your lvls checked and then ask for more. There is no shame in telling your Dr you want to be in the high normal range. Some will respond in a very positive fashion its cat and mouse. You will need to keep your lipids in check. None of it is worth it if its gonna take yrs off of your life.
I'm an RN with a BSN and on HRT. If ya got any questions hit me up.
You came to this site for a reason. That reason is not sub-optimal testosterone levels.
lot of people can help you here.

At your age a pcp shouldn't frown. Don't self medicate because it is very important to be monitored on trt no matter what route they give you. If doc says no, try endocrinologist. If he says no Google anti aging clinics in your area but those guy's don't except insurance.

I know. I moved recently due to a job, and had to change PCPs, sucks. I was friends with my old doc back home, had him for 20 years. Now I have to feel him out. My first appt is next week, so I'm thinking I just go in and say "Hey doc, I felt like crap so I got some bloods, and here they are!"

juiceball8082's picture

Pretty much that's all you need to do! You got proof that your low.

I would go to a doctor bud. No reason they will not treat you unless your FSH and LH are low. Than they may try and bring you up naturally by kick starting those two hormones with some clomid and HCG first.
