withdrawals and opiates are gone

ad

6 years ago. I've been using pain pills for a few years and then tore my patella and quad tendons sending my kneecap up my thigh. After surgery and pt got really addicted for about 4 more years.

It put a terrible strain on my family. Ended up totaling 3 of my cars 2 of moms and 2 rentals. Another dozen or so wrecks all front end and one being head on. All this and still didn't think I had a problem.

A year and a half ago was out of meds and broke going through terrible withdrawals a good friend finally got me into a methadone clinic and been there ever since.
This has changed my life so much and am thankful for him and to my family for not giving up on me.
All this 1st happened when wife was pregnant with son 6 years ago. So glad she never left cause I love my family.

Hopefully I can stay clean and get my old addiction to the gym back and keep enjoying life with family With no more set backs.
Withdrawals and opiates gone for good!

Brother.. good job and let me say get off the maint. drugs. Iv been addicted to every opiate known to man. The maint. drugs are just as bad. Ive always been able to kick with xanax and a couple days of tramadol which will ease the pain. I was what they call a functioning addict. Go ahead and kick every thing! Good job for trying!

LC,
Welcome to this site. Im pretty new here and have a ton of empathy for guys n gals like us. Its a lifetime of vigilence to get and stay clean! Get yourself dosed down I used subutex. Took me a few tries to finally get clean. I found i could still function while slowly goin thru withdrawl. Meetings and steps and hangin with clean folks worked for me.

If you have a doc that is writing you scrips for it, you need to call him and tell him to not do It anymore. I put it off for months and every couple of weeks the urge to get a refill was huge. One day when I called for a refill, I changed my mind and told the nurse to let the doc know that no matter what I didn't want him giving me those anymore.

Been there bro. Opiates are a bitch. Suboxone saved my ass and have been off opiates and sub for almost 3 years now. Never let your gaurd down and think "ok I'm over that, I'll just have one" because that will lead you back down a dark road.

One thing I've realized is that at some point in my life, there is a good chance I'm going to be in serious pain that I will need something. I've accepted it .I've talked to my wife about it. I will just have to be strong mentally and remember how bad I was when using. I have a stupid back which puts me in agony at times. so far I've dealt with those episodes of pain without narcotics. I refuse to take them for back pain, that's what got me in this position. Major surgery, that's a different story.

Good luck bro! Kuddos to your wife for not leaving. It takes a real women or man to stick through the hurt and pain and work on making a better life!

Getting this out it definitely feels alot better and it seems like an easier thing to accomplish. Knowing I told others of what I've been through and they can always ask about it will hopefully keep me in check.

Thanks for listening/reading
