What is the most important gear if you could only pic one for your gym

ad

What one piece of equipment would you take over all others? And when I say one I speaking of say dumbbells, barbell/plates etc.

Fortunately we really do not have to choose one. Smile

Dumbells. I can't think of an exercise I currently do that I couldn't utilize/incorporate them into.

However you watch a lot of the younger generation they basically bring their fucking house with them in their gym bag lol. I remember when I used to work out in the family barn (dirt floor) and everything only using dumbells and a leg extension machine lol.

Dumbbell set for the obvious, but also; to a decent weight for rows, walks squats etc

Dumbbells all the way, legs would suffer though without heavy squats

Got to go with the Barbell & Plates - Curls, floor presses, standing press, squats, deads, cleans, rows literally everything can be done with them.

The tibia machine...dumbbells all day.

No argument from me on that one. Pull ups and dips are staples

To hear my wife speak, at my house, we have a dip doing pull ups.

Dumbells for sure, most universal piece of equipment ive seen in a gym yet!!!!

I for one got to go with dumbells even though its been said umpteen times. Hopefully Im not the only one that has 20' thru 50's on a rack next to my chair. Pretty versatile weight at the gym or home. Leg lunges to shoulder presses, curls obviously. Ect ect

Yoga mat....just kidding. Im gonna go with some rusty old dumbbells. Hit mostly everything with them.

I agree with the majority. Dumbbells at least to 100lbs/45 kilo's. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me,lol. Second for me would be the obvious barbell/plates

The leg extension machine.

(Just kidding - dumbells)

Cables you can do everything with cables. If the squat rack includes plates and a bench then squat rack for sure

Makwa's picture

Does a rack of dumbells count?

Armwrestlingfiend's picture

Barbell/plates so I can do all my mass building compound movements and especially my favorite the big three and standing over head press.

A set of 100 lb dumbells. Cant curl them but you could use one. Other than that pretty much all compound movements.

I like dumbbells over barbell, I still work barbell but if I was told I had to pick one or the other I'd go dumbbells - I feel like you get more secondary and stabilizer work and a much better "squeeze" with db's. That would be my pick over everything else. Does an adjustable bench come with it? Smile

Pale's picture

Without a doubt dumbbells

Sam I Am's picture

You could do floor presses.

Or just lay on the coffee table, it's narrow enough. Nobody ever said working out is supposed to be comfortable anyway l.
