what brought you into this life?

ad

In all honesty my friends I am just curious as to what drove you to pick up the weights for the first time. You all have become a part of my life while on eroids and am interested in your backstories.

My path into this starts with motocross...the rest in a nutshell is on my profile. We all make this place what it is and a peek into your beginning would be a fascinating read...knuckles

Women! Wanted to get them and I was lead to believe they like a athletic physic.

Now I realise they like a man who's confident in himself.

Now I work out because I want to get away from a woman!

isn't life ironic?

bolt781's picture

Hahaha fk! That was pure awesome! Knuckles brother needed that laugh!

My growth in my teens was all height and no beef. Like a bean pole lol, so I would go down to a local gym. At first it was to try fill out a bit, didn't have a clue what i was doing. Bought a few bodybuilding magazine's and started to learn the basics.

The one thing that struck with me was how they preached technique and to be strict with lifting which has stuck with me till this day.

Like most i just carried on, later on i was unfortunately in and out and really got into it, all natty to, holding back from gear was definitely a benefit that I didnt realise at the time. And now as I approach 42 i can genuinely feel the benefit of gear use.

I got in to the underground co-Ed fight scene when I was twenty. There was something truly addicting about fighting women, getting clawed, and having my hair pulled and shit. I started to work my way up in the ranks and get a name for myself and finally earned myself a light heavyweight title shot against this chick name Jamima "the Gooch" Johnson.
I trained really hard, grew my fingernails out and shit are really prepared to take that effing belt. Well, the day of the fight came and while I was in my dressing room, The Gooch and her husband Amy Franklin decided to jump my ass. They beat me up pretty bad and to add insult to injury that bitch Amy held me down while the Gooch rubbed Icy hot all over my balls. Pretty much the worse day of my life. It was then that I vowed to do everything possible to shrink my nuts small enough that I could handle any" icy hot-to-the-nuts" attack that the Gooch and her bitch woman husband could throw at me. That's when I decided to start juicing, simply to make my really big balls small.
As for the title shot..well, I got my ass kicked but I think that's only because I didn't think to wash off that fricken icy hot.
So here I'm now. Juiced up to the bone!

All my love, no homo
Ed

Like I said...fascinating reads! Colorful mind you have brother...author of childrens books I presume Haha Fkn shithead...and I say that with respect brother real shit! Knuckles ED

I too was involved in the underground co-ed scene. However my fate was much worse, after the Gooch beat me unmerciful, she decided to take me as her "man husband", somedays I cry myself to sleep...

Engineereddisaster's picture

Shit bro. I feel for you. I know the Gooch has a mean streak especially when she's all trenned up.
I have a cousin who dated her and as you are aware that the Gooch is a redhead...he can't look at a redhead and not piss his pants.
I took his ass to a "carrot top" show in Vegas thinking it would help....holy shit bro.
He just sat there, thumb in his mouth, rocking back and forth, piss down the front of his pants, making this high pitched noise..."ehhhhhhhh ehhhhhhhhhh ehhhhhhhhhh"
That shit was embarassing.

Pale's picture

Lmao! All truth..

My father spent a lot of time in the gym when I was younger and I always went to the daycare there. Then he bought my first bench set when I was 13 and put it in the house and I became a Man.

Always wanted to take care of me. Just never had the time. Well there is time just wasnt focused enough. Did the I'm gonna work my ass off and get everything early in life. Well did it. But had to take a loss on that one. Relationships sometimes don't work out. I do me now. And this is something I've always wanted to do and now I have the time. I could of probbally fit this in at that time. But it's a crazy world we live in. Anyways I'm here now and loving every minute of it

lmao... yep .. you think you can stare down the grrl ?? lol

bolt781's picture

I got this!

Catalyst's picture

Gyms have always been one of the few places where I truly feel like I actually "fit in". I work in an environment where I'm surrounded by high level academics and geeks because of career choices. I come from a very different background to most in my field, so I don't tend to comply with their social scene. I don't relate to a lot of them, truthfully probably because I don't wish to!

People in gyms are more like me, I relate to them. I started lifting weights purely to get stronger for judo when I was 12 years old. Quickly became apparent I was stronger than most people and I enjoyed becoming stronger than ever and the effect it had on my judo. When I stopped competing, those hours spent on the mats became more hours with the iron.

bolt781's picture

Ha! I kind of lead the same stance concerning the mis match of my job and myself and the people I work with. And just like you...I dont wish to try and fit into the norm of what I do for a living!

The lifting mentality brother...Id rather nod and grunt and let that be the conversation and keep to reppin! Speaking of strength! How is your training coming along? And thank you for sharing Cat you're humbleness does not shadow the fact that a fkn monster is in you...knuckles

Catalyst's picture

It's coming along ok. As I expected, static strength I'm able to compete with the big boys, just not aerobically fit enough for some if the more mobile events. Years of ducking out iof cardio etc are showing my weaknesses.....

bolt781's picture

I hear ya bro! Keep pushin, you'll be running marathons in no time lol!

My love for this thing started when I was a boy and first saw Conan the Barbarian. The Terminator. Rocky 1-2-3-4. I loved watching Bodyshaping and Rick Valente. Guests like Flex Wheeler and Shawn Ray had me posing in my living room before I could shave. My uncles would call out poses and I'd do my best imitation of Arnold and Lou and Lee Haney. Arnold's front double bi. Lou's most muscular Hulk style. Lee's front lat spread. I'd string together moves slow and graceful like Shawn Ray. All this shit from a punk kid who just thought it was the coolest thing on earth to have muscles. I started weight training at 12-13 and always loved it. Hit
My first gym with my uncle and was instantly hooked. I've loved the lifestyle since I can remember.
Gear came by way of medical necessity. Abnormal levels found during a routine panel my MD asked for. Life hasn't been the same since. Whether my body has always matched my love for this lifestyle I openly admit that no it hasn't. But my love for this thing is foundational and will always be with me with or without Gear.

bolt781's picture

Awesome! So you had the love for this from the get go! You mentioning your uncles calling out poses reminds me of how much of a role my uncle played in my youth. Although not calling out poses(fkn rad!) he was clocking lap times.

Thats just it...our love for this will never match up with where we are physically...because we are never done! It's a conatant, slow and steady progression and Im glad you're here to share your story brother!

Outlawthing's picture

I fell in love with powerlifting at 20 I trained and eat and trained some more got burnt out a 25 and fell of the wagon with Coke and pain pills. Lost it all when I got sober I remembered how much a loved the gym so I went back and used it as my outlet for everything would go clear my mind and forget about things been there ever since

bolt781's picture

Physical work is so good for the soul! And beatin the weights the fk down even better! Haha! I here ya...after lifting...peace...the dust of the days stress...blown away! Knuckles brother

bolt781's picture

Fkn amen bro! This place is as badass as it's members...you play a role and glad ya shared your journey! Much more positive to come along on that journey too brother!

Started lifting in high school when I was racing mc. Kept lifting into my early twenties then busted my self up really bad. Stopped everything and focused on my career until a few years back when my life changed overnight. I got depressed drank a lot. Weights brought me back to life brother. Getting back into sports now and learning to love life again. That all started at the gym for me..

bolt781's picture

BraaaaaAAAAT!! Hahah! I know you're a fighter brother! And I know you're fighring through this fkn cut!.... We all go through depression at some point...Im glad you pulled through and are on the rise! Your renewed love of life shines through here bro! Keep your chin high always and always smash on them fkn weights! Knuckles

I miss the 2 stroke days!! I got a 450 now. Just not the same. :-(

bolt781's picture

To this day it still is awkward hearing the thumpers race. I remember Doug Henry was the first to test the 450 during the nationals...I thought no wayyyy..fkn four strokes are for quads and enduro/desert races....

The speed these guys race with now is incredible and the track layouts in supercross these days...undoable on a 125cc or 250 2 stroke. A whole different technique to riding now. All low end torque as opposed to the high top end screaming revved out rpm's. For me...if I still did ride...it would have to be a 1996-98 CR or YZ haha

Mine would be football no doubt just carried over from there. Started when 15 years old now 50 let me tell u the joints, tendons, ligaments, lower back, shoulder, elbows can all tell it's been this long but also one of the main reasons I love to run nandrolone in my cycles helps lubricate me nothing like a little WD-40.. Motocross who would have thought u must have been really into that to train with weights for it. Used to ride but never raced hard on the wrists and knees.

bolt781's picture

Haha I think the majority of us have a little tin man syndrome...deca is definitely helpful in therapeutic doses! For myself the weights actually started after motocross ended...but thats neither here nor there...I appreciate ya sharing and keep showing the younger crowd whats up my brother!

bolt781's picture

Fk yea bro! Instead of being a victim you did something about it! You said it perfect!...self respect was gained most importantly! Once you believe in the person you are...others do as well! I have to say them traps you have now tell the tale..."what now suckas" lol...I enjoy your posts as you always have a common sense approach! Knuckles Tron

My fascination with working out started when I was incarcerated for a burglary due to poor choices, heroin, and crack. I was homeless for 6 mos before I went in. I was 115lbs. I did 6mos in county, lifting daily with the guys I met in there. I was about to be transferred to go up state when my lawyer told me the judge decided to grant me a program instead of a bid. So I went to my 4th inpatient rehab at 19. I continued to work out daily even though there was no facility there. I would pound down my meals and run up to the bathroom to do pull up variations in the shower stalls. Do push-ups and all types of body weight exercises I learned while I was locked up. I felt better than I ever had before.

In that 9 months I went from 115lbs to 145 lbs just eating and lifting regularly. I was hooked. Working out became the foundation to my recovery. Without this foundation I probably wouldn't be here in front of all you great guys writing this today. It's 9 years later. I'm still sober from drugs and alcohol. I got a great education. A great career. I'm very blessed. Couldn't have done it without my family who never truly gave up on me. They only stepped away when they had to. Family, close friends, and these weights. They all helped me rebuild my self esteem which I shattered. These weights continue to give me strength not just physically but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

God bless you brother Bolt! Love the positive energy you bring here. And God bless everyone that's lucky enough to be here.

An absolute remarkable change brother! God bless family right! I'm truly glad you took a negative moment in your life and molded it into motivation, drive, and honestly beat the system with your perseverance! The system wanted you to be trapped...to continue on the wrong path...but you found strength inside yourself through lifting that you are worth so much more to your loved ones and most importantly...yourself! Stay trucking brother each day needs you...and is yours!

My path started with the long slow death of my father. I decided I was not going to just allow myself to fall apart. I decided to resist time..

bolt781's picture

"get busy living, or get busy dying" I'm glad you chose to rise up brother despite the unfortanate outcome of your father. My respects to him and you...if the outcome was different and you hadn't chose to resist...we wouldn't have been lucky enough to be able to call you our friend here! Knuckles brother Darth

Right on. It was also my uncle and grandfather who both checked out way too early as well. But I decided I will find out if it is lifestyle or genetics. Juice probably doesn't help the odds but I guess if my expiration date is shortened I will go out looking swole. Smile

Hahaha that was awesome! Amen brother!
