Using Circle App for Bitcoin transactions?

ad

So I decided that I would get the Circle App so that I can finally take advantage of the bitcoin discounts offered by Eroids sources. I download the app, enter my info, add a debit card and add money to my Circle account - easy, no problem.

But.... then I try to use the app to send funds by scanning a source's code. The app tells me it needs more info. I have to upload a photo of my Driver License and take a selfie - hesitant, but I do it. Then I try to make the transaction - doesn't go through. Try a couple different codes after refreshing the order page - still won't go through. Then i get an email that says Circle has to review my account and I will hear back in 3-5 days?

I am a little pissed, Circle had no problem taking my money and loading it to my Circle app but now I can't use it or cash out my funds? Wtf? Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone had to go through this verification stuff? I am hoping someone just has to review my pic and ID and give the ok to activate my acct but Idk?

Yeah I went through the same issue. But out all worked out fine. Took a few days get rolling but it was fine. only issue I have is that my debit card is a prepaid card through my bank but it's not linked to an actual checking account but it is backed by my bank. Anyways when I purchased coin it got held up for aabout 2 days before they cleared it because It was a prepaid card. All worked out but I havnt used It since due to the hassle, been waiting until I have a different cars to use.

It takes a couple days for Circle to get you rolling, bro..even with the debit card...after that you can transfer in minutes...

THE_MECHANIC's picture

Got it. Makes sense, guess a human has to verify your identity before Circle allows you to complete transactions?

MedDx's picture

I'm not sure what all the process involves. I just know starting off was taking too long....however when everything was all finalized, it was easy rolling...

I use circle.com all the time, but I wouldn't send btc to pay as it can be tracked. Use circle.com to transfer to another anonymous btc account and then to the source. I believe it's safer that way and harder to trace.

I checked in to this today...so now I have two more accounts to play with...

I'm starting to think, we may need a heading/group,: EVERYTHING BITCOIN.

These topics keep popping up, they're all the same almost.

Now I understand bitcoin is new and the Mods haven't mentioned, "the no payment talk", probably because it is new and different.

But if all these topics keep popping up, .........

I'm just thinking, all info, in one place.

That's an awesome idea!

I was trying to be as vague as possible to stay within the rules but obviously, I am not the only one having issues trying to figure out bitcoin transactions.

I've never had this issue with circle pay in 3 years... don't do it. Withdraws are instant and the info they are asking for is not required.

Are you using the app "circle pay" ?
Found here :

https://www.circle.com/en

THE_MECHANIC's picture

Yep, that's the app I downloaded from Playstore. Oops, I already did it. Every site I read said that Circle is under some sort of regulation that requires ID verification?

twistedsister's picture

Oh really ? Wow this must be a new thing bro I've never had to buy then again haven't used it in a couple months maybe it's for new customers I'm grandfathered in I dunno.. if they are being stupid now the second best thing imo would be coinbase. I have both apps on my phone I prefer circle but both imo are pretty comparable.

THE_MECHANIC's picture

Cool, thanks bro. I will check out Coinbase

twistedsister's picture

Yeah man that's weird I wonder if it's not the wallet you are trying to send to.. if you have another device you can set up a second circle account and try sending money to it then withdrawing it there..
No problem hopefully that helps

What most fail to realize is that any financial services company doing business in the US faces the same brutal regulations that banks now do including know your customer (through ID verification) and monitoring transactions for suspicious activity. Sometimes the activity is clearly suspicious (sending funds to the DarkNet). Other times it's not so clear and you may get questioned on it however they are under no obligation to keep your account open and will many times simply close it when there are concerns as it's not worth their time to investigate. Nothing you can do about it either. Circle has a very stringent user agreement.

Transferring funds to an intermediate wallet is useless as that can easily be traced without much effort. The safest option is to use a mixer. Most don't as it gets a little time consuming and confusing.

Mixing on sending funds isn't for me. To cash out dirty coins sure. There is the shared send feature on blockchain though and that is worth using.

THE_MECHANIC's picture

Understood but worst case I should be able to get my funds back, right?

For sure

Bro I tried to do the buy btc and send and it didn't work the last two times so I had to get a refund, i ended up doing the straight cash transfer option which was easier. And The scanning code shit is not for me

Get the refund and just use the direct cash transfer option

If you don't purchase bit coins and go directly to send, put the money amount in and it lets you an option to pick and send directly from your debit OR btc you may have already purchased or left over. It's really easy but but without mixing these things up in wallets and confusing other mixers, I'm not sure how safe... but... I don't really care about sending a couple hundred here or there... It's personal and I'm not buying huge bulk so they can fk off

Yeah, pretty frustrating... everyone gives a bitcoin discount though, sometimes with specials up to 40-50% off. Would really like to figure this out so that I can take advantage...

It's the same read what I wrote above, your still sending it as btc
