The question is wrong.

liquid measure and weight are not the same thing. 8oz volume is not the same as 8oz of mass (weight).

8oz of mud does not weigh the same as 8oz of water.

I can take a firmly packed cup of tilapia and it will not weigh the same as a loosely filed cup. Because you can not be consistent in how you fill your cup, you can not be consistent in its weight, nor calorie count.

Hllwd is right on point. for $10 or less you can pick up a scale.

Greg's picture

thing is about using a scale, after a while you'll get good at eyeballing the portion. making using the cup or scale unnecessary.

HllwdBdBoy's picture

really?! you'll spend 100's on gear (hopefully 100's on food and supps) but won't kick down $10 for a scale? Almost makes me want to BAN you on principal >: /

Buy single ply toilet paper and spring for a scale!

Greg's picture

A scale can cost less than $10 new.
buy a scale at goodwill or a garage sale
borrow one and never return it.

Stand at the off ramp for an hour with a sign, "need food scale, anything will help, god bless"

I think if you try real hard, you'll find a few coins to buy a scale.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

Buy a digital scale..... make life easy and stop you blowing our minds...... height of tilapia in jug........ DUHH!!

A cup is 8 ounces so just do the math.
Not a big fan of talapia. They are bottom feeder fish and are used to eat the feces of other farmed fish, then they harvest the talapia. Eat them in moderation. Just my .02.

vhman's picture

No problem. I think your making it harder than it is or I am not understanding the question. Oz on a fish package is weight. Are you trying to convert that to "a cup" size? Then trying to figure the calories? Vike has it right below on calories.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

So we are looking approx 190 cals for 8ozs.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

There are 96 calories in 100 GRAMS ... we dont do cup measurements in the UK bro so you got me head fucked here lol.

100 grams is approx 4ozs if thats any help.
